  1. Half your age plus seven I thought was always the accepted wisdom. Of course the older you get the less of a factor I think it is. As a 38yo I went out with a 21yo for a while, strangely she got more flack (hello Harry) for it than I did.
  2. 2 cyclists dead in first 7 hours of the year
  3. Awesome, you get the feeling he could play almost anywhere. Huge coup if we can get him to sign.
  4. Best moment: 8-0 Worst moment: seeing J-Rod get injured, can't recall being more gutted for a player. Just hope for his sake (not even ours) that he comes back at least as good as he always was.
  5. Leicester level
  6. Just an observation: If you think you need a new road bike, do a few miles on your flat bar winter slugger and then hop back on the summer road bike. It'll feel like some sort of £9k ultra-lightweight carbon Shimano Di2 weapon. Until you puncture Seriously need to either get some puncture-resistant tyres for the road bike, or put the flat bar on a diet...
  7. i hear they were a little bit naughty last night, got baton charged by police after the game.
  8. Honda CRX VTEC - revolutionary car for its day Toyota Mk1 MR2 Supercharger (if you can find either without too much rust, mechanically they're bulletproof.) On the subject of Jap Crap I think the late 80s Hondas are very distinctive - the thin nose and angular lines really stand out. Late 80s Prelude or even a Civic Aerodeck Clio Williams Mk1 Alfa 164 Cloverleaf BMW M535i (should be in budget unlike the M5) Celica GT4 Carlos Sainz if you can find an unmolested one Most of the Mk1 MX5s are slowly dissolving these days - some of the rare special editions claim a premium. I've got a RS-Limited - carbon fibre bucket seats, LSD - only 500 made worldwide. I think an absolutely stock ultra-low mileage old dear's MX5 is a bolt-on future classic - preferably a UK car 1.8 in red (most of the red ones have gone pink)

    Pelle

Bit late to the party but have we not considered "for he's a jolly good fellow' as the basis for a song? Oh Graziano Pelle oh Graziano Pelle Oh Graziano Pelle He's gonna score a goal [clap clap] He's gonna score a goal [clap clap] He's gonna score a goal [clap clap] Oh Graziano Pelle oh Graziano Pelle Oh Graziano Pelle He's gone and scored a goal [clap clap] He's gone and scored a goal [clap clap] He's gone and scored a goal [clap clap] Oh Graziano Pelle oh Graziano Pelle Oh Graziano Pelle He's gonna score again [clap clap] He's gonna score again [clap clap] He's gonna score again [clap clap] Etc... Easy to learn, easy to sing, clapping bits for those who does sing, etc..
  10. Genuinely nice bloke off the pitch too, family man and does a lot of stuff for local community e.g. prize-giving for local Youth football team.
  11. Goals up on YouTube
  12. Emailed support, should work now. Site was struggling under high demand. Anything that gets me a pie/pint quicker has to be good although I guess those dedicated service counters will take any contactless payment option.
  13. Safe to say it will be a bit quieter and calmer than when you lot play Ajax Always preferred Feyenoord, more passionate fans, more working class due to Rotterdam being a port city. If you want to meet Pelle before the game they usually arrive at around 11:30 for a 15:00 kickoff, they always stop and sign autographs for fans - and if you have your flag and maybe a Feyenoord shirt I'm sure he'll say hello... There a lots of pubs nearby but if you want to walk a bit further the Grapes in Oxford Street is usually full of Saints fans (also plenty of places to get food there). If you want to stand (and not be constantly asked to sit down by stewards) then get tickets in the Northam Stand but not too close to the front. Best view is from 10 rows back - block 41 or 42. If you want to sit then as others have said go for the Kingsland/Northam corner as you'll will get the noise without the standing.
  14. Anyone else have trouble signing up for one of these? Reckons I'm not authorised even though I'm an ST holder and got the invite email.
  15. Don't know if you're still looking but discs are a really good idea on a commuter bike. Also consider adding cross top auxiliary brake levers as can be tricky grabbing road bike brakes quickly. Flat bar road bikes (lightweight solid fork hybrid) also worth a look. Whyte Dorset look good, definitely on my list. I also like the look of the Charge Plug range. If you want to go for steel then take a look at Genesis. Love the traditional look and build of their Croix de Fer and Equilibrium and Day One bikes But as others have said, great value on the Boardman and Btwin bikes (Decathlon exclusive) - I've got a Triban 3 I inherited from my brother as my commuter bike
  16. Laptop comes with me for night games because I come straight from work. The mobile phone regulation is laughable and unenforcable in this day and age. Ironic that the club sell an electronic version of the program which according to those regs you can't view at the game.
  17. Remember mid'70s in my Panini sticker book Joe Corrigan was the only goalie over 6 foot.
  18. Trending on Twitter as "Callum Chambers" and apparently he's a centre half [facepalm]
  19. This. And chose his words really carefully re the Board, the people running the club, etc. I took it to be he thought there was the opportunity to push on but the backing wasn't there.

  21. Makes huge business sense as long as the Academy production line keeps rolling: 1. Play kids on low wages, maybe get relegated 2. Gobble up parachute payments, sell a couple of kids who looked impressive for inflated fees 3. Walk The Championship 4. Rinse and repeat Result: huge pile of cash, exciting seasons guaranteed, possibility of a cheeky cup run, sorted.
  22. Julie Christie! Julie Christie! Julie Christie! Still can't watch Billy Liar without screaming at Tom Courtnay's character, how the hell could he not get on the train? I've somehow never come across (badoom-tish) Maddy Smith before, she a Hammer girl? As for Helen Mirren she's been getting her kit off from the age where you'd probably get arrested these days - check out an obscure Aussie film called Age of Consent which was about the same artist as the one in Sirens. I'd also add Eve Marie-Saint Audrey Hepburn Ingrid Bergman Grace Kelly but they were unobtainable goddesses on pedestals (unless you were a Monagasque prince or Italian movie director)
  23. Draft Morning/Wasn't Born to Follow/Get to You (The Byrds, Notorious Byrd Brothers) - helped because it is actually a run. The quintessential essence of 60s hippiedom replete with crazy phased stereo effects After the Gold Rush/Only Love Can Break Your Heart/Southern Man (Neil Young, After the Gold Rush)
  24. Huge regret of mine not to have taken the option on some gold circle tickets for Live 8, that set was mindblowingly awesome and now never to be repeated. If I could go back in time it would have to be November 67 - they supported Hendrix @ Portsmouth Guildhall
  25. Over 100 AIDS researchers on the plane flying to a conference in Melbourne. The guy who developed the original AIDS drugs back in the 80s died on the Lockerbie Pan Am plane, and a number of other researchers also died on SwissAir 111 Not one for conspiracy theories and I'm sure renowned AIDS researchers are always flying around the world but its a tragic coincidence.
