  1. I've been wondering if we are hanging on for any International manager reignations as and when their teams don't qualify for the World Cup but there's nobody jumping out of that list that look likely to be a fit. Having said that I'd take Liechtenstein's Konrad Fünfstück just to see how often he gets his name spelt wrong on here.

Only if preceded with "Chinky chinky.."
  3. Spors & Viera are getting the band back together🤞 "AI Overview Patrick Vieira's backroom staff at Genoa included assistant manager Kristian Wilson and goalkeeping coaches Stefano Raggio Garibaldi and Alessio Scarpi, but they are no longer with the club. Genoa replaced the entire coaching staff with interim coaches Roberto Murgita and Domenico Criscito following Vieira's departure in November 2025"
  4. That's why I can never understand it when our fans refer to our club as a laughing stock amongst other fans. Why? There are 92 clubs. Fans of most of them are too worried about their own clubs to care about ours. I would hazard a guess if you pick 100 random fans if other clubs around tge country many if not most wouldn't know what division we are currently in let alone position/points/performance level. Are we currently laughing at Wolves, or Fulham, or even Pompey? Are any of us searching out odds for the next Norwich or Boro manager? We are in our own little bubble, it's important to us but the rest of the football world just get on with their own thing...as they should.
  5. Yorkshire County Cricket Club managed it for years
  6. This squad in this league *should* be capable of that level of form. It's just a matter of whether they can be arsed .
  7. To me he brings to mind a decent athlete who is trying his hand - trying his feet and head would be a start - at a brand new sport and still has no idea when or where to make a run, how to find space or how to get the better of a defender with or without the ball. Definitely needs regular fame time on loan or the U21s/B team/reserves, whatever it's called these days. I want him to do well but at the moment I reckon THB would make a better replacement for Stewart than him.
  8. BiB- but they're don't .Most PL games are complete or close to sell outs. Lower leagues are seeing increasing attendances. Simple economics of supply and demand tells you that therefore tickets are not "too much". There's probably a valid case that certain age groups/earning brackets have been priced out and/or the make up of the crowd is different to what it was 15- 20 years ago, but that's a different argument to whether they are priced too highly.
  9. Yep hands up, I knew I had it wrong but too late to edit it. Thought I'd get away hoping no-one else would be old enough to remember it. 😂
  10. Phil Boyer, Phil Boyer, 1st Division Top Scorer (Hershsam Boys, Sham 69) Ruben Agbooka do do de do do.( Intro Geno, Dexys) On no Mick Mills, Oh no Mick Mills Guess they're all age relevant
  11. Good lyrics, what's the tune?
  12. Not one person has suggested that, just like no-one has suggested that the entire 250k living within the city boundary all want to go to games either. But if you want to attempt to ridicule others to cover up your embarrassment for not knowing what the difference between an "urban area" and a city is feel free. This might help you. Ikea choose their locations on there being a population of at least 2 million within a 40-60 miles radius (around an hours drive). They picked Southampton. Not all will want to shop there. But enough will. Saints have 2 other competitors within that radius. Neither can expand without moving. We can.
  13. The city (approx 250k last sentence) is defined by it's boundaries. An urban area includes the city and all areas considered commuter towns for the city. The figure quoted is almost certainly correct. They wouldn't sll necessarily condider themselves ss "from" Southampton Just consider West Quay shopping centre. Average daily visitors 46500. Do you really think that would have been built on an expectation of every Southampton resident visiting it once every 5 days? Btw the South Hampshire urban region which includes everything Totton to Havant is around 1.5m and the most densely populated region UK outside of London. No wonder our roads are so slow.
  14. Around 250k is correct for the city of Southampton. The urban area is correct, that includes the likes of Hythe , Marchwood, Calmore, Totton, Eastleigh, Chandlers Ford, Hedge End, Botley, Bursledon, Whitely, Park Gate, Locks Heath, and all the smaller places in between. Roughly coincides as our realistic catchment area although I'd add Salisbury Andover and possibly Basingstoke to that as well.
  15. I don't see what the location of the away fans has to do with it. I love a bit of back and forth banter with them as much as the next fan, but primarily we should be causing an atmosphere to encourage our own players and make the opposition players feel intimidated but it's hard to do that unless the sound is able to spread round the whole ground. If anything singing "at" the away fans only encourages them to sing louder. Best way of shutting them up is to go 2 or 3-nil up.
  16. I was in Chapel in the block closest to them. First time I've been that end since the creation of the "Northam Wall". On at least 2 occasions you could see literally the whole end - which is what? 8000? - had hands above their heads clapping in unison which looked impressive, yet from the other end I had no idea what they were singing. Not a criticism of the fans, but we're never going to create an intimdating atmosphere if the layout/architecture of the stadium acoustically stops noise from reaching the other end.
  17. Sounds like it would take forever, but extra 8K based on £750 per season it would only take 5-6 years. Extra boxes/hospitality would make it even quicker
  18. He does, but the post was specifically about CFs that helped us get promotion. Were we already in Div1 when he signed?

    Tyler Dibling

Or he could be encouraged to play his heart out for 20 odd games and prove to Everton and anyone else who might be interested that he is actually worth what we value him at, and we'll let him go with our blessing for that price in January.
  20. Sounds like a Subbuteo practice session. Did Gwen flick it back again?
  21. So the club has joined the CoT with their dubious clues now? But the candy stripes we are expecting didn't exist when that match was played
  22. He would, but when it comes to Free Agents we are as likely to sign him as we are Ronaldo, Modric and Neymar - although I think we've already missed out on the first two (very Saintsy, we were too slow there 😂), the latter AFAIK is still available.
  23. Possibly but he's been in all 6 squads since despite Ramsdale playing in the PL
  24. Didn't Trafford get into recent England squads whilst playing in the Championship with Burnley?
