Wasn't there a birds/animals link to every opponent in the 2003 cup run as well? So we start this time with Eagles ....

I'd say it's a mixture of both. Doesn't matter if half the ground want to sing it's hard to for them all to join in with a fast song as it's over before it reaches them (how many times are Blocks 38/39 and 1/2/3 singing together?). BUT you're right as well, too many nowadays just can't be arsed. BTW even the demographics don't always fit. My wife was sat with me on Wednesday. Female, old(ish) - she won't be reading this I hope - occasional visits. She joined in with loads of songs, seemed to be loving Lovren You're a ****, she had no idea who Lovren was but was joining in anyway

Said it before and I'll say it again. For a song to spread it has to be relatively slow with at least one longish note for people to latch on to. How many of ours spread more than a couple of blocks. If we're lucky (and including a few old ones) OWTSGMI Slow version We're by far the greatest team When I was just a little boy Lallana Song (or anything to Sloop John B) Marion Pahars (or anything to that tune) Dusan Tadic All fit the above criteria. Chants or fast songs simply can't spread, acoustic effects make it near impossible to get in time if more than a couple of blocks away. Wembley for th JPT was weird, the same song seemed to come from two different directions and got killed before it got going. Same with other clubs, thinking of some of the classic football songs YNWA Blowing bubbles Delilah (Stoke, what's that all about?) Blue Moon Take your pick from a dozen ManU songs Hate to say it but PUP Was good to hear We Nottingham Forest..... on Wednesday even it wasn't coming from us All slowish, at least one longish note to latch onto and tend to spread around the grounds. The only fast song I can think of, (which shouldn't have been a fast one anyway but the backboarders made it so) that spread was the Ricki Lambert one, and even that most were just la-la-la-ing to the tune. Don't ask me for suggestions, i haven't got any, but if we want to hear singing around the ground slow with long held note9s) are what's required. Oh, and easy to remember words.

This. This. This. Singing the same song over and over when 6-1 down is not atmosphere it's gallows humour. Atmosphere should encourage the team and intimidate the opposition. Fortress St Mary's ? it's more like a rest home with the inmates having the occasional singalong for old times sake nowadays.
-
Obviously already singing it but if got louder and longer because of their "encouragement". To be fair, different kind of game altogether that one with regard to atmosphere.

The Vitesse Arnhem fans loved it. En masse. all turning and pointing to the Itchen or Northam when it was that section's turn to respond. Comes to something when the way fans conduct the home fans singing for them.

Remember the 79 League Cup Final? Left the sunny south coast in the morning wearing just a t-shirt only to arrive at Wembley whilst they were still shoveling snow from the approaches to the turnstiles. Cold? No, well maybe it was, but you just had an extra whisky with your beer and got on with creating an atmosphere. #GoodOldDays

Security at St Mary's in light of the Paris attacks

So you DID phone before hand to check shoes and underwear are ok then? Or did you just assume? -
Security at St Mary's in light of the Paris attacks

Think your "logic" is flawed there. The only reason for the situation to have changed is security concerns. Why is a laptop a risk but not a tablet or mobile?. Attempts have been made to blow up planes using explosives in a shoe and in underwear, So by your own "logic" it would be sensible if the club banned those too, no doubt you checked to make sure it was ok to be wearing both of those before you left home for the ground on Saturday, and wouldn't have been surprised if you'd been told barefoot commando was the only way to get in . -
Received same letter despite only going to 4 games so far this season, so it's not just ST holders getting them. My guess is "Outraged of The Northam" has contacted the club complaining that no matter how hard they try the away fans still ignore them, with blocks 1 to 4 receiving all of the visitors "friendly banter".

French national anthem to be played before Saturday's game
Wurzel replied to simo's topic in The Saints
Maybe a simultaneous across-all-grounds rendition of "Stand up if you hate ISIS" would be more appropriate. Certainly easier for the majority to join in with -
Maya scores in comfortable win over Singapore minnows

So why doesn't he appear in THIS list of players making most defensive errors then? -
League Cup Quarter Final Draw - Liverpool at Home - Tickets £18
Wurzel replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
I got charged £1 each today (post out). All other purchases I've done the free print at home but that wasn't an option when I purchased online this morning -
We moan about early leavers leaving 5 minutes before the end. Their early leavers left 5 years ago.
-
I've often wondered if there is any H&S requirement for the club to open the exit gates X number of minutes before the end. I'd love it if one day they just didn't and all those early leavers sheepishly make their way back to their seats pretending they'd just been for a p!ss .... although I guess that would cause twice the disruption for others.

Bet this guy writes a letter of complaint every time he doesn't win a raffle. Jeez, he'll go int total meltdown if he ever gets"bumped" off a scheduled flight.
-
Wondered where that story had come from. Saw it all clearly, it did look like the player was aiming towards the smaller child but aimed too high and the nipper that ended up with it caught it fair and square without any pushing or obstructing the youngster or his family

None of which is really relevant though until we qualify and know who else is in there with us. It's the ranking that would determine the seeding, we could increase our coefficient but unluckily find more teams with higher scores than us qualify as well that time round, or conversely we could climb the rankings with a lower coefficient depending on other qualifiers.

So that's where the "Claus spent a hundred grand on grass" rumour started.

It was the "Don't thing Long" that I spotted first. Ironic post of the first order from The Prof there. Hoping this doesn't now spark a debate on the meaning of irony

Getting them drunk first usually makes it easier.

Hmmmmmmm ......... methinks you may be coming in a little low there.

Is a player-issued but never worn away shirt for the 2003/04 Uefa campaign one worth hanging on to?

Used it in February boarding at Ashford. Definitely showed passports AND tickets to both the English border official then the French one 10 yards further on before being allowed into station. Couldn't say how much attention they paid to the name on the tickets but both requested them. Can't remember what happened coming back but with the current migrant crises I would hope they'd be even more thorough than usual.
