  1. I don't know either - but its certain that if we were to leave then EU wide regulations would be replaced with British ones. I suspect that for most there would be no difference and for many changing from a single EU wide standard to differing UK and EU standards would be more onerous and time consuming. What is portrayed as red tape is usually consumer protection - food safety, car standards, electrical goods safety and performance. Some companies might not be happy we have those standards - they want to palm off the shoddiest crap they can, without a guarantee period, but I am.
  2. As a relegated team they've got little bargaining power. They'll be lucky to get £30m imo.
  3. Uppsala is a great little University city, and actually closer to Arlanda airport than Stockholm - about 18 minutes by train. The match ground is in Solna, which has its own stop on the Uppsala - Arlanda - Stockholm line. (not that Im getting ahead of things...)
  4. Exactly, its less than 0.4% of GDP. A mild recession over a couple of quarters would be more.
  5. You can be incredibly facile sometimes, which is a pity because you have the wit for more. Why are you obsessing about what most people thought? Its irrelevant to the evacuation and abandonment of the match. Whatever they think will be irrelevant to the next police action too. The article says the threat on the mainland is substantial with a particular risk around the time of the Easter Rising anniversary, which was two weeks before Old Trafford. Old Trafford was abandoned because the police thought it was an IRA pipe bomb. Thats a fact. You can dissemble about Paris police but its not relevant to this incident nor to Sour Mash's post blaming it on Islamic terrorists. .
  6. They like the bigger girls down in Pompey
  7. Lame, Sour Mash's post was about the impact of the evacuation and abandonment of the game. Old Trafford was evacuated because security services thought it was potentially a viable device as used by the Real IRA. In case you missed the current attack threat from them is rated as severe. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/may/14/police-severe-terror-threat-ira-northern-ireland-bomb-attacks. 52 Real IRA bomb attacks in the past year in the UK. How many from Islamic terrorists?
  8. All over the net. The IRA used pipe bombs for decades, primarily as harrassment 'we're here' devices. They are the preserve of groups who dont have access to conventional military ordnance. IS do. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/irishsun/4309879/Pipe-bomb-3k-you-pay-6k-if-it-works.html http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/2778431.stm http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/pipe-bomb-discovered-near-school-29572036.html This is the old Trafford device.
  9. You think the security services who looked at the bomb and then ordered evacuation had no idea of the kinds of devices used by different groups? wow.
  10. Pipe bombs are an IRA speciality, not Islamic terrorists. hth
  11. Or pay more. Pay differentials between top and bottom have got way out of kilter. Allowing wages to rise would reduce the benefits bill aside from all he desirable side effects.
  12. ugh
  13. Nah the funniest part is when office boys from Hampshire start trying to use cockney rhyming slang.
  14. Wouldnt it be better if they built the whole new Olympic sized stadium then rented it to us for next to nothing. Then we could sell SMS as development land for a huge profit.
  15. I hope we aren't going to be unreasonable barring his progress upwards to the Champions League...
  16. I went to a party in Kristinhamn in central Sweden. I was the only person who had gone a shop and bought booze. Literally everybody else had made theirs.
  17. Good news, I'd never heard of Olexandria and Poltava Lviv / Lvov is supposed to be great. I'd love to go there.
  18. I fancy Ukraine too. Lugansk have qualified, but Im not sure whereabouts they are playing their matches.
  19. You're missing the point. Small countries like NZ and Switzerland have free trade agreements because they dont have industries which would be threatened by China. The EU does not allow China free trade because of its positions on dumping, intellectual property theft, counterfeiting, foreign ownership of property in China and state interference in business. Given thre trade imbalance if we were to have a 'free trade' agreement it would be to our disadvantage and their gain.
  20. The club seems to have accepted the Seville model, but Koeman seemed to have tired of rebuilding every year at Feyenoord, hence he moved on. Maybe thats where the tension comes in
  21. They joined the EEA instead - the EU without a vote. Thats why they didnt happen. Not hard.
  22. Misleading as ever Johnny. Those are the EEA deals plus preferential trade deals aimed at development in poor countries. The EU biggest trade partners are the US and China, but you knew that.
  23. How about a small stadium with a mostly flat atmosphere where people moan, eat pies and drink bad beer?
  24. People do tend to get more right wing with age - if they've accumulated some assets. The baby boomers in particular like to convince themselves everything they have is because they've been uniquely clever and hard working and everybody who doesnt have the same is a shirker. The fact that they just happened to be born at the right time when houses and shares were cheap before the Thatchers deregulation doesnt come into it.
  25. So you didnt need to call them to give them grief because they hadn't made a mistake, you had. No doubt you recognised your error and apologised.
