Pointless argument imo. Regardless of whether or not he was criticised on the press, a lack of ability to speak English well (not haltingly in simple sentences) is a big drawback in any organisation. That 'football is a universal language' argument is specious. IT is a universal language, as is burger flipping. You still need to speak to your staff, not only to convey ideas but also so they get to know and trust you as an individual . Obviously its possible to succeed without language initially, as long as you learn it fast. Having English speaking assistants also helps. But to argue not speaking the language well isnt a handicap is plain stupid.

To me its the combination of giving up privacy together with loss of electoral accountability which is the problem. I don't really care if current Labour or Tory governments have access to my data. I do care about sharing of that data with supra national bodies because imo we are on a path to federated blocs where individual citizens have even less say.
