  1. Weird sort of non reaction from the person / people filming it. The only sounds you hear is when someone in the vehicle steps on a dog. I know they were probably on the look out for some sort of Taliban attack, but even so.
  2. Im starting to loathe those papers which are just interested in misrepresentation and slapstick politics. Labour are saying spending a bit more now (an extra £12bn on a current deficit of £120bn) will lead to growth and higher tax receipts and therefore a lower deficit in the medium / long term. The Tories are saying cut now so that when the upturn eventually comes the recovery will be stronger. You pays yer money and makes yer choice. Everything else is just paper spin.
  3. More of a discovery than invention - electricity. Almost everything we rely on - cars, tv, IT, planes etc needs electricity.
  4. They've got one of those on Brighton Pier. £2 a go. You never win anything with that one either.
  5. The rucksack thing is a non issue imo. They look similar enough to me, and if you are going to attempt to pull off some huge conspiracy involving hundreds of people, Im pretty sure they would go to the effort of making sure the rucksacks match. Listen to the eyewitness account given in interviews (householders). Ive heard two where people have said he was stripped naked and put into a police car by the local police (the video you saw) and then was later dressed again and taken out of the car by the FBI. Its not yet clear what happened then but its claimed the younger brother drove the SUV at them presumably in an attempt to free his brother and actually caused the injuries. Who knows, maybe the FBI did shoot him but that doesnt mean it was a plot. 3. Not true. The householder says he clearly saw "a good amount" of blood in the boat before he called the police. http://edition.cnn.com/2013/04/23/us/boston-attacks-boat-owner/index.html?iref=allsearch 4. Watch the London marathon coverage and tell me if they mention every security organisation and every group present . CISPA - thats democracy not conspiracy! You have proponents of the bill, mostly cyber security and commercial traders online ranged against those concerned about civil liberties. It wont pass it its present form because Obama has vowed to veto it.
  6. Not good news since the amount we spend on players seems to in inverse proportion to how much they play. Cant help but feel you get more value from well chosen players who have had a rough time elsewhere and are picked up for for not much, than some £16m signing that feels his agent should have got him Man City.
  7. Thats weird. The doctors who talk about treating the victims of the bombs are lying and part of the plot along with the gagged complicit media - but the doctor who is talking about treating the bomber, sorry patsie, is telling the truth to a different, free media. Funny old world
  8. We probably are in a relative decline - ie the gap between our income and other nations is narrowing - we are being caught up. Absolute decline i dont think so. The Chinese manufacturing boom was built on cheap labour and artificially cheap and easy accessible capital, driven by government policies to grab market share. What I hear a lot from friends who know about this stuff (i dont) is that the Chinese government have miscalculated. Yes they have captured the market, but their labour costs are rising rapidly, a lot of manufacturers arent making money, defaults on loans are going through the roof, the cost of transport to Europe is becoming a higher % of the price obtained, and attempts to raise prices are just resulting in buyers sourcing from elsewhere. Some manufacturing and services are even starting to return to the UK. Im not that pessimistic. Yes we wont necessarily be kings of the hill anymore and can only look forward to very modest growth for a decade or two, but thats not the same as falling living standards.
  9. Quite. You cant keep that many people quiet. People blab about having slept with a soap opera star in order to get some attention, the idea that you could keep a fully fledged conspiracy like that secret like that when its necessarily been shared by so many people and so many agencies is ludicrous. People often mistake failure for conspiracy. Most terror attacks are foiled or broken up before they happen - for example in Northern Ireland by the end of the troubles 95% of Republican plots were intercepted before execution. Sometimes though security services just don't know enough to act, without a full set of 'when' 'where', 'who' and 'how' atrocities can still happen. When those failures do happen Im sure there are cover ups and 'spin' after the fact to protect intelligence sources, by individual officers to hide personal mistakes or just poor performance by a team. Similalrly there will be state sponsored attempts to undermine governments like North Korea and Syria. Both of those are a world away from officially sanctioned attacks by government on its own people. By the way OSM there are some more liars here. You know what those doctors are like for conspiracies. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/04/23/doctor-suffers-nightmares-about-treating-patients-from-boston-bombing/2105037/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2312810/Boston-Marathon-Bombing-2013-Heroic-doctor-Natalie-Stavas-SPRINTED-help-victims.html http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/news/1000687-469/mass.-man-who-works-in-nashua-lost.html
  10. Theres a fantastic link from there to this http://cigpapers.wordpress.com/2013/04/03/tony-blairs-islington-people/. Tony Blair is a cross dresser done for importuning young boys and Cherie Blair is well known witch - but D notices on the press have choked that news. Everybody else is Jewish so no more explanation needed apparently. Its the Jews wot dun it!
  11. Lets test that. 'Pap' (not real name) from 'Pulpteth' (doesn't exist) in Liverpool (pop c500,000), claims his right to name missing students as bombers, to say that the 16 people with limbs blown off were liars and actors. That the dead 8 year old and his mutilated mother and sister were frauds. That the US government and international media is in cahoots with the FBI, Watertown Police, Boston Police, the ATF, Massachusets State Police and a few thousand other people in a huge wide ranging (but absolutely watertight and whistleblower free) conspiracy but gets outraged by 'anonymous attacks' when Tim (real name) from Hassocks (pop c5,000) dares to call him out on his bizarre and inconsistent rants. We can now add hypocrite to fruitloop. Would it hurt less if you knew my address and children's shoe size 'Pap'? I don't care who you are, why would I? it wouldn't fill the logical voids in your arguments nor change my response to them. FWIW if I was some power mad President seeking world domination and subjugation I would pay people to act exactly like you. Nothing rallies support to an authoritarian government more than conspiracist headbangers effectively sabotaging and discrediting measured and thoughtful debates about civil liberties.
  12. I think you are underestimating Pap Hypo. Not only does he have a special insight that none of us have, he also has unique bravery that allows him to stand alone to start a fight to cut out the cancer of bent and twisted reporting with the simple sword of truth and the trusty shield of British fair play. So be it he is ready for the fight. The fight against falsehood and those who peddle it. Or is he a munchkin who posts up personal details including pictures of his daughter then gets shrill and claims privacy invasion when someone questions the wisdom of it. I forget.
  13. I think there is a little confusion. Far be it for me to speak for Verbal but I think he actually said the whole 'Its a fake and government conspiracy' guff is a product of the American loony survivalist far right and that Pap is lapping that nonsense up. I doubt anyone here apart from Pap actually doubts the attacks happened, which speaks for itself. FWIW I found some of the interviews with the uncle and other Chechen emigres interesting - basically saying that settling into the US required a major mind shift and change in attitudes, some immigrants could do it and some failed and became disaffected. The older brother was a good amateur boxer and there is website showing him as 'boxing for a passport' . Maybe thats what happened. One or both were trying to become naturalised and get citizenship but lack of holding down a job and being investigated on the Russian's request about possible links to terrorism put the kybosh on that and they had just been turned down.
  14. Its not though. The backward nonsensical views come not from the religion itself, whichever one it is, but from a certain mindset found in most areas of the world compounded by a lack of education or outside influences. They views of a an Afghani muslim tribesman from the remote regions wont be much different from a non muslim one from the same area - whilst the views of middle class Islamic clerics born in Britain will have much more in common with a middle class Anglican than his Afghani counterpart.
  15. The lax control on guns is bad enough but in most states there are no controls at all on ammunition, you dont even need to go to the gun counter and talk to someone, you can just pick up as many boxes as you want put it in your trolley and walk to the checkout. Walking into a Wal Mart in Minnesota last year the first thing I saw was the 'Offer of the Week' , a pallet piled high with shotgun shells, $14.99 for a gross (144). The Boston bombs were almost certainly made by someone spending an hour or two emptying the cordite out of ammunition freely bought, surrounding it with BBs and pellets and packing it into a pressure cooker with a simple battery, timer and percussion cap taken from one of the cartidges. Surely it should be made a little more difficult than that?
  16. What a great post Verbal. Coherence and balance that the conspiracy sites dont even strive for.
  17. Pap you might find your paranoia about government might diminish somewhat if you learnt a little about the way it works, and how CNN works come to that. How about actually reading the bill, a routine annual appropriations (finance) bill to see what it actually says rather than what some cerbrally fantasist claims it says. Btw ireport on CNN is just that - anybody can and does report and post up anything theiy like, mostly crazies desperately seeking a platform.
  18. Pretty easy to find out CB. National Express ferked it up so badly they volutarily handed the franchise back because of zero investment, complaints and the fact they were losing money. Nov 2010 Elaine Holt, chair and chief executive of Directly Operated Railways said that when it had taken over morale was low and investment had "all but ceased". "During the year, we've started the process of putting back the skills and infrastructure to enable us to deliver optimum performance," she said. "And while there are signs that these efforts are starting to pay off, I anticipate it will take several more months before we are in a position to sustain our targets in this area." "During the next year, we'll remain focused on getting the basics right, fixing the problems we inherited, improving and building for the future, and restoring the pride in the East Coast railway," she added. Elaine Holt, chair and chief executive of Directly Operated Railways said that when it had taken over morale was low and investment had "all but ceased". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-11699539 Sept 2011 THE East Coast train company, which is run in the public sector, has increased its annual profitability, it was announced today. The company, which runs services between London and Scotland, also increased passenger numbers. For the period from April 2010 to March 2011, East Coast made a pre-tax operating profit of £182.8 million and was able to pay £177 million to the Department for Transport for whom it runs the company. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/east-coast-train-firm-records-1404542 Sept 2012 A railway company which was temporarily re-nationalised by the Government three years ago reported increased profits and an improvement in passenger satisfaction today. Directly Operated Railways (DOR), which took over the running of the East Coast line from National Express, said its operating profit increased by 7% in the year to March to £7.1 million. Turnover for the year amounted to £665.8 million, an increase of £20 million, leaving a profit before tax and service payments to the Department for Transport of £195.7 million, an increase of £13 million. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/east-coast-rail-firm-directly-operated-railways-boosts-profits-8181255.html
  19. Its probably part of some Government conspiracy to pave the way for tightening control on artists materials.
  20. I work in fundraising for a charity and in common with most others, would never use chuggers, door to door canvassing, 'pay for my holiday' or emotional blackmail. Its a nasty technique of exploiting people's 'niceness' and reluctance to say no. Ive heard of pensioners on £100pw having 1/3 of their income going out in direct debits to charities. Its not only immoral but its counter productive as you end up breeding views like St Mikey's - which are totally understandable. Prior to working where I am now I worked for a major funder and still remember the look on one CEOs face when asked how much he raised from chugging and was then informd that he had now lost twice that amount in grants from us.
  21. Coal mining isnt dead in the UK, UK Coal is still going, its just much smaller than it was because the economics of deep mining and competing against China and Eastern Europe just dont work, as with many other industries. The decline of the car industry from c1960 is a whole different story, and largely due to poor management and low investment rather than union militancy. Friends of mine who are now senior managers at Toyota and Ricardo but formerly working at Ford and Austin-Rover talk openly about every time the car companies got an excess of cars they couldnt shift because of weak demand for substandard product they would go and sack a senior shop steward to deliberately provoke a strike. The strike would be prolonged by a refusal to negotiate for a few weeks until the excess inventory was shifted (saving on paying the workers). Once the backlog was cleared the shop steward would be reinstated, the unions would end the strike and could claim the management had caved in. The unions and workers were played and manipulated by a cynical short sighted management who failed to see they solved this weeks immediate problem but in the process gradually destroyed their companies reputation and workers commitment to quality. Its not coincidence Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mini (BMW) etc all have excellent labour relations. The workers are same, its the management which is better.
  22. Went to Playa del Carmen for a couple of days last November and it was good. Nice beach, clear warm water and good hotel. Also did this amazing caving river tour http://www.riosecreto.com/ . The thing with central america is that they are poor countries and often the fancy strip of good hotels in palm lined roads are one block away from people living in real poverty with all the social issues to boot. If you arent comfortable with that youi'd be better off somewhere like Cayman Islands, Florida, Seychelles etc.
  23. Calm down, you guys need to pick and choose which websites you give creedence to. This iosnt the BBC or the PL website, itts just the witterings of a Californian teengager who has probably never been to one of the grounds, let alone all 20. http://bleacherreport.com/users/866364-kathleen-so
  24. lol. Jack should get better lighting and decor in his en-suite.
  25. Its a pity you dont realise just how sad and damaging your conspiracist crap is Pap. Just for your benefit heres a picture of the guy rolling around pretending to be injured, next to the girl in blue who's already dead. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BH8oDt2CAAAksi_.jpg:large
