  1. Sure. Im not trying to stifle the debate. I have doubts about him at that price too.
  2. Ooh. Thats doesnt sound good.
  3. Whether its a big gamble or just a calculated one depends on whether you understand the reasons for his dip in form and whether you know the remedy for it (I don't pretend to to). Whether related to injury, Blackburn's defence setup, tactics, morale or some other reason I think I'd trust NA to make an informed judgement.
  4. Sounds more like a sail training vessel than a Royal Yacht. Cameron says " it’s going to promote our country around the world, flying the flag for British trade and bringing new business and jobs back home". Really? People are going to buy pharmaceuticals, financial services and software because a sailing ship crewed by teenagers has rocked up to a docks near them? Its a hodge podge of ideas and rolled up badly into one project - a backward looking exercise in nostalgia looking for a purpose.
  5. Ron Vlaar. Available and being messed around by Villa http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/aston-villa-fc/2012/07/23/aston-villa-are-set-deadline-over-ron-vlaar-deal/ Feyenoord coach Ronald Koeman has set Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert a week’s deadline to decide on a deal for his defender Ron Vlaar. The Holland international has been surprised by Villa’s cool approach since he spent the previous weekend at the club talking over a transfer. The 27-year-old is keen to join but now says: “Feyenoord is in my heart and I have been through a lot here. “I think the chance I will move to Aston Villa is not so big any more. A transfer is off for now.” Koeman is pressing for a decision from Villa after admitting his surprise that there had been no follow-up from the club. He said: “They know what Ron costs, and yet a week later there has still been no contact. He wants clarity. It should be decided around this weekend or else he remains at Feyenoord.” Villa boss Paul Lambert remains more focused on getting the players he does have fit for the new season and his progress has been jolted by a second injury in the forwards department. Darren Bent (thigh strain) will need a couple of weeks’ rest and now Gabby Agbonlahor faces the same time out because of a knee injury suffered against Chicago Fire.
  6. Perhaps he'll get paid one seventh of what he's owed under his contract.
  7. It might be picked up by conspiracy theory weirdos, but I wouldnt be at all surprised if there wasnt some kind of rumour mongering going on by the NRA or other gun lobby organisations to deflect attention or public support away from gun control.
  8. Whats with everyone (well Stephens and the Daily Mirror) using 'Centre Half' again. Its like listening to Association Football on the wireless.
  9. Why has he gone to SMS then? "bye lads - Im skipping training today, dont worry about the gold, be back later". Can't see it somehow.
  10. Yes but what about the bleeding obvious? That he isnt good enough to compete at the Olympics without mechanical aids. I'd be a cert for the rifle shooting with a 20x telescopic sight for a start - not those piddly iron V sights they usually use.
  11. Lol. They should have just done what I did, pick the cheapest of the three and respond to that.
  12. Thats my point though. The bigger clubs had more money. If Saints offered KK £500pw compared with the £400pw he got at Hamburg Man U, Chelsea etc could afford to outbid us with £600 even then. And it wasnt one or two specials - at one point there were six or seven current and former England players in the team.
  13. We do. Cant help thinking the sports science stuff is overdone. Saliva and **** samples every day. Questionaires before and after every session. It would just irritate me. Football isnt only about your body - it mental freshness and creativity too.
  14. I still dont get where the money came from for those early 1980s big name signings. We had less than half the attendances of the big name clubs and there was no tv money to speak of. How come Saints could afford them and others couldnt or wouldnt? (yes I know wages were a lot less, but so were ticket prices)
  15. It would be ludicrous if he were allowed to compete. He has completely different 'equipment' to any other competitor. Could he use a ten foot version to step over the high jump? Yes he has done amazingly well and respect to him for over coming his disability - but you cant pretend its possible to recreate an even playing field.
  16. Lets face it almost nothing is going to top signing the reigning two times European Footballer of the year, probably only Lionel Messi.
  17. I used to work for a grant making charitable trust that gave money to social and environmental causes. The environmental projects were invariably more interesting and ground breaking (sic) than the social ones - mainly because social problems have been looked into for hundreds of years and there is still no adequate answer to how society should deal with people who find it difficult to cope in day to day life - whether through mental illness, low intelligence, personality disorders etc. I doubt that there is any variation or combination of financial inducement / penalty, training/education, counselling/ drugs, social / criminal policy that hasnt already been tried somewhere at some point and been found wanting in some way. There is no silver bullet.
  18. I got a glass verandah made of this stuff. It works (the glass needs some sunshine on it to work best - it oxidises the dirt and the rain washes it off). http://www.pilkingtonselfcleaningglass.co.uk/
  19. The article is largely right, but totally misses the pont. Large problem families exist because generally, doh, the parents have problems. Its the same around the world - poor people with little educational attainment that have few opportunities apart from scraping a living in a bad job have bigger families - whether there is a benefit system or not. Compare middle class and underclass family size in any developed or developing nation regardless of benefits. Throw in low self esteem, the attractions of lots of kids telling mummy they love her and a bigger house (big house = success right?) and you can see why they do it. So yes, its not right that people have children they cant support. But what are you going to do? allow the kids to grow up in absolute poverty and breed a new generation of crims and problems? force sterilisation of the mother and take all the kids into care? Have the whole family 'disappeared'?
  20. Gibraltar is only 30,000 people and they have 1 football pitch. Its a special achievement to lose to them.
  21. They dont seem to close interesting popular threads that havent turned into a *****fest or ****ing contest. So my guess is they closed whatever thread it was because so it wasnt an interesting popular thread that hadnt turned into a ****ing contest / *****fest.
  22. Dont you just connectb the iphone to the pc using a usb cable and then select the appropriate drive?
  23. Agree a bit of needle adds to games. Nothing more enjoyable thsan sticking it up people who thought you werre going to roll over.
  24. Theres no mileage in a local radio station presenter telling one third of his audience that their club must die.
  25. I really like it from the outside. With the sweeping roofline its a little different and sits down into the hillside. Yes it looks a bit crap inside, but thats because its basically not finished. When you see it with the additional 8,000 seats in this season it will look a lot better. However it cost three times what SMS did, and its hard to see where the additional money has gone.
