  1. Me too. I liked the atmosphere, the winning and the turn up an go (in) of lg1 and the championship. Fighting for tickets, high prices, posturing and excess of being sold a product in th PL - meh. Obviously a lot of new 'fans' will turn up in the PL so there will be a nett gain - but it would be interesting to know how many others drop off.
  2. And for England only its 80.8 - directly comparable to Sweden. Scotland and NI are a full 3 years less.
  3. Where the **** is he supposed to go then?
  4. Only for the op itself. The pre and post care will still be done locally.
  5. Good news indeed. The review needed to be done though.
  6. Exactly this.
  7. There may be some movement on the TBH deadlock. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/local/murder-probe-launched-after-man-s-torso-found-in-bin-bag-on-southsea-beach-1-4018682
  8. Doh. He says he is a left back because he is playing at left back currently. Just as Bale could easily move back to playing there. Most of Buttners games were in midfoeld. Given we have four left backs already and no LM is it too much of an extreme leap to suggest we might want him to play in the postion where he has spent most of his career?
  9. We agree on that. He's also a good example of why you shouldnt let your career moves be dictated solely by money.
  10. tbf Bridge isnt a good example of what any other player who wants to advance his career would do. He has a habit of staying too long everywhere.
  11. We know, it was posted before. And preovsaint was right. He has played predominantly in midfield, as indeed the article says. If you're going to nitpick, at least be right.
  12. The words 'wanton destruction' are key to his thoughts about the bombing. He knew what he was saying. Definitions of 'wanton' from dictionary.com. I doubt OE dictionary is different 1. done, shown, used, etc., maliciously or unjustifiably: a wanton attack; wanton cruelty. 2. deliberate and without motive or provocation; uncalled-for; headstrong; willful: Why 3. without regard for what is right, just, humane, etc.; careless; reckless.
  13. I'd pay good money to see two rocks hit each other at the speed of light. We used to drop them out of Canberra towers in Weston but local physics bye laws meant we could nver get them above 120mph.
  14. Yes he wanted the bombing to be more effective in winning the war. Bombing that helps you win a just war causes no moral quandary. Bombing which is "mere acts of terror and wanton destruction" does.
  15. "The destruction of Dresden remains a serious query against the conduct of Allied bombing. I am of the opinion that military objectives must henceforward be more strictly studied in our own interests than that of the enemy. The Foreign Secretary has spoken to me on this subject, and I feel the need for more precise concentration upon military objectives such as oil and communications behind the immediate battle-zone, rather than on mere acts of terror and wanton destruction, however impressive." Winston Churchill 28th March 1945
  16. I'd settle for getting a seat on the train.
  17. Those tvats at CERN making all this stuff up. You remember that last nonsense they came out with - the worldwide interweb or something, never heard of again after all the hype died down . Science is just a big waste of money. We should go back to banging rocks together.
  18. If its a 1950s /60s American car and noisy the chance are that its been deliberately modified as a street rod (ie built for show to mates and clubs) and has a straight through exhaust (ie no sound deadening baffles). Its illegal, but as to whether you can get anyone to do anything about it...... Phone up the local police station and see if you have a beat copper, and get them to have a word. I used to have a Chevrolet Bel Air and it was very quiet apart from a low rumble from the engine.
  19. All PL clubs apart from Forest when the majority of those games were sold. Would be interesting to see how many switch allegiance with promotion /relegation since.
  20. I havent memorised the joke but he made some really crass comments about the girl whose nose and ears were sliced off by the Taliban
  21. Jeez. That means (unless there are other things in that figure that United are paying 11%pa on that debt. The banks must think there is a real risk that they / the Glazers will go pop.
  22. This. Buttner has even said he likes the new Vitesse coach and hinted if he doesnt get this move he will stay and walk away for nothing next season.
  23. I got an infraction for this addressed to Hypochondriac. Should have got a prize imo. "What a prize **** you are. I suppose taking the **** out of fans who coined the 'Win It For Markus' slogan two days after his death with your oh so amusing 'Win it for Rickie Martin' avatar is "respecting the views of others". Youre not even a good troll, you just bandwagon jump. One sad individual. And I havent forgotten the Afghan girl joke either. "
  24. Fair enough, I hadn't picked that up. The issue seems to be centred around the fact that Barclays were charging at the higher end of the libor range and there may have been some questions from both politicians and BoE as to why that was so - and whether that questioning constitutes undue pressure or signals tacit green lighting. I didnt even know libor had a range so I guess Im out of sensible thought....
