I can only assume they used that word because it took up less newsprint than "toe curlingly awful and cringeworthy".

Its something to to do with the pronouciation of the German speaking Pennsylvanian Amish sounding like 'Dutch' instead of 'Deutsch' irrc. Asked some people in Utrecht (not part of Holland) what the difference was and if they cared - no-one minds.

Drove five miles out of my way on the way home from an overnight flight to get a MacDonalds breakfast. Sausage and egg muffins are worth it. Macdonalds gets a lot of bad press press but its marginally better than a lot of of other fast food like Burger King or KFC and no worse than a lot of ready meals you'd find in Tescos. Good choice as a rare treat.

Weirdly enough it was my ex who had the midlife crisis. She moved out when the youngest was 18 months old - couldnt cope with being a full time mum - so decided to go part time with them and take up a new younger bloke, going out a lot, weekends in London etc. Six years on the kids are more closely bonded with me than her, new man is on the rocks and she is trying to repair things with me - which Ive got no interest in. Ive started seeing younger women and bought a fast convertible since my marriage broke up - because I can and its fun. Its only a crisis if you throw in your job and happy marriage in order to do those things.

I'm not an expat and can't sort you out with a job but I've spent the last few days in Singapore and reckon you could do a lot worse than look for a job here. Its a really livable city -organised and together, accessible to everywhere else in ASia.Everyone speaks English and the labour market is really tight - employers find it difficult to get good staff. Two separate singaporeans told me its really easy for Brits to walk into jobs, preferred over locals. Was even talking to one guy who came out gfrom uk for a holiday- he was offered a job without even looking -- and he's got a bad stammer and nervouus twitch. You should come out here for a looksee. If you can put up with living in a highrise and no car (big taxes on cars) you can have aa great lifestyle.

Good stuff, just so long as there isnt so much Japanese interest in the Championship and the Southampton area that someone is inspired to come in with loads of cash and buy Pompey

I know probably 10 people who emigrated to Australia intending to stay permanently but all bar one have come back after periods ranging from 6 months to 20 years. Initially seductive as a holiday location people seem to miss all kinds of things once they are there. Only person who has stayed was my uncle who went in the early 1960s, to Perth as it happens, when maybe things were bleaker here. When I was in my teens I thought about emigrating all kinds of places - but then i was young with a crap job and no ties. Now with cheap airtravel you know you can always visit somewhere again if you really want to - or lots of different places each year. That takes away a lot of the desire to move permanently imo.

Lots of interesting pics, but Im pretty shocked he buys pickled onions and Heinz ketchup from Tescos....

Three players from Crewe in the squad. None from Chelsea, Newcastle, Arsenal, Spurs etc. Says something about the future of the game in the UK.

Odd. It was the most popular thread of the month by miles on the Ugly. P'raps he didnt put enough FAF!! and "I ****ged your mum" jokes in for you.

Quite. If people dont find posting here fun anymore then go quietly and take a break. Involuntary spasms of pique telling everyone how lame and wrong they are are just funny. Though not, tbf, quite as funny as Paps master class in ownership of Turkish/Del Bianco and of Boris/St Romsey Saint /Dave Benson Philips. http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/fb_mb.php?m=v&t=48552#183

He's certainly dribbling

Ah Pavlov's little friend never fails to appear.

Better than that it actually seems to renew itself. Ive noticed a lot more lurkers starting to post in the space created as some of the most tedious and metronomic posters are around less.

'It's hard on the players because they've earned those wages by attracting record attendances and healthy profits, so it's unfair to have them taken away. Oh'

Ive been shafted

Yes. We'd be beating Barcelona if Butterfield was playing regulalrly.
-
Not dissing Richardson, he is probably the better right back but Butterfield is more vocal and the team as a whole plays better with him in it imo.

Depends on how much debt and how many millstones they can ditch. If they can get Chanrai's and Gaydamaks debentures / ransom strips declared void and cut expenditure then they do have a chance of somebody taking on the remainder of their debt for a nominal £1 and wont go bust. If not.... we all know no-one is going to pay £50m to get control of the club and inherit running deficits of c£1m pm for a club headed towards lg1.
-
Maybe its just the games Ive seen, but Ive always preferred Butterfield to Richardson. He adds something to ther team, not just the position.

Something soothing for Bearsey (in deference to Pap's sense and sensibilities)

If you're going to learn any Spanish before you go make sure its South American Spanish not the Castillian (Spainsh Spanish) that is most often taught in the UK. They're quite different. Punta de Choros in Chile is stunningly beautiful and great for wildlife. The mummies of the Atacama desert are interesting too. Take a basic PADI course in Belize and go diving on the blue hole.
