Lets fix another poll - football league awards
buctootim replied to jimbojones10's topic in The Saints
What is it with the Scots producing all those football managers? far more good managers than players. Paul Lambert, Dougie Freedman and Malky McKay- three Scots and three English nominated. -

Curates egg. The availability of jobs has very little to do with whether it is right that someone on benefits should be better off than someone of average wages. That will always be wrong in my view, reagrdless of unemployment rate. It is also undoubtedly true that some people on benefits squander much of the income intended for their children on gambling, fags and booze, so I have some sympathy for the vouchers idea, though not sure if it could be made to work in practice. Agree about the high cost of living. Whilst the government cant influence the price of utilities or food - its policy can have a massive influence on the availability and price of housing. British housing is awful compared to almost any other industrialised country. Generally too cramped and small, hugely energy inefficient and way too expensive. Houses arent dear to build - they are made expensive by lack of supply and artificially inflated land prices. You can build a 1,500sq ft / 150sq m house on a quarter of an acre for £150,000. Instead we build 800sq ft houses 16 to the acre for £300,000. The government could easily, over the space of 20 years, transform the quality of peoples lives by making available much lower cost, much higher quality housing. Build 300,000 homes per year for 10 years and house prices and rents would fall. It wouldnt need to cost the taxpayer anything. The present system forces house builders to tie up capital in large land banks which may or may not get planning permission at some stage. As agricultural land a farm might worth £4,000 per acre, but once it gets planning permission it can be worth £2m per acre. That kind of 'pot luck' speculation doesnt do anyone any favours.

Have got a huge East German flag in a drawer. Doesn't seem to be many occasions to use it nowadays. -

Cant believe they spend over £1,900pa on electricity and gas for a three bed house either. I pay £1,250pa for a 4 bed house and the thermostat is at a constant 22c 6am-midnight 7 days a week.

Prime Ministers question time is just a scripted dance - local MPs to stand up and ask questions that will make them look good in their constituencies and the PM promises to raise it with the appropriate body. Normally it changes nothing (unless the PMs enquiry get addressed to a junior member of staff who then panics)

Pretty pleased overall. Leicester was dire, Millwall better and tonight and improvement again - dominating third placed team second half. More important than win in some ways.

Three points is better than one which is better than losing apparently.

Thought for a while Cardiff will be our main rivals at the top, not WHU.

How can Falque and Lee DEFINITELY be better options? twonk. They might be, who knows? no-one has seen them.

Canesten 2%, or soaking your arse in a bucket of warm bleach and caustic soda.

You can buy most clubs outside the premiership for £1 and a promise to take on their debt.
-
Im not saying the club are being unfair - just saying thats how football works - quite brutal or the ultimate meritocracy, however you want to see it.
-
It is pretty harsh being a footballer. You help a team get promoted and they say - thanks for the goals - you arent up to it in our new division, bye. Clubs give no loyalty and receive none in football (yes I know the money is a big cushion).

When he said to agent "I want £40,000pw or the cheapskate small timers can eff off" what he meant to say was "I realise I have been living in a bubble at Stoke, am coming towards the end of my undistinguished career and having considered all my other options (none), will take whatever you offer". All a horrible misunderstanding.
