  1. I dread to think how such a common sense approach will go down on here! Baton down the hatches!
  2. Save up to £220 on watching Saints in the Championship when you renew your season ticket. Saints have announced the details of season tickets for the forthcoming 2011/12 Championship campaign. A season ticket secures you a seat at all 23 home league fixtures for what is set to be another fantastic year at St. Mary's following the club's promotion out of League One last term. What's more, your season ticket is the only way to guarantee you can get your hands on tickets for all of this season's biggest games, including the clash with local rivals Portsmouth, not to mention being first in the queue for Cup games and any potential play-off matches. With Adult Season Tickets starting from just £380 it is ideal for those fans desperate not to miss a minute of the action, and there is plenty to look forward to once again, as Nigel Adkins and his team set their sights on taking the Championship by storm. 2011/12 Ticket Details: You can make a saving of up to £220 by getting your hands on a Season Ticket when compared to the cost of purchasing individual matchday tickets, a saving which means fans essentially get a massive seven games absolutely FREE - that's almost a third of all home matches! Season Ticket renewals open from Friday 1st July 2011 with priority given to existing season ticket holders until Thursday 14th July before new sales begin from Friday 15th July over the telephone (0800 2800 050) or at the box office. Sales of all Season Tickets will cease on Friday 5th August, on the eve of the new campaign. Adult Match tickets are also available from just £23 when bought in advance of a matchday over the phone, at the box office or online. An Under 11s category in all areas has been introduced, and all under 11s will be admitted FREE when attending matches with a full paying adult in the Family Stand. In keeping with last season's policy, there will be no half season tickets, but an instalment plan will be re-introduced, details of which are listed below. * Match tickets purchased online or through the telephone booking service will continue to carry a £3 booking fee. This will not be applicable to Season Ticket purchases. * Tickets bought on a matchday will be subject to an additional £2 surcharge over the match ticket price as the Club looks to encourage the pre-purchase of tickets to reduce matchday queues. The Season Ticket instalment plan will require a 50% payment up front (along with a 5% admin fee) in order to release the first 8 match tickets of the season. Three further instalments will then be required from all customers on the following dates: • 1st September 2011 • 1st October 2011• 1st November 2011 On the receipt of the final payment in November, the second half of the season ticket will be issued. All sales cease on Friday 5th August 2011

  6. Good morning. Who won?
  7. I use a photo of Steve Grant on my Twitter profile too. It's a well known under-cover technique on there
  8. I'm assuming this'll be a 23:23 announcement in the traditional fashion? :-)
  9. So, when's the big party at Convers Towers...? They must be able to fit all 10,000 employees and a few top fans in their HQ I'd have thought: http://www.officespacefinders.com/office-property-Bank-5
  10. Does this mean we're not doomed anymore? Phew
  11. Panic over... jordansibley: For all of you asking about season ticket details, tonight is the night. Details will be on the official site later this evening. #saintsfc
  12. "Removed due to a claim from Simco Limited ("Syco") and Sony Music Entertainment UK Limited ("Sony")" ???
  13. 70s and 80s were better. Fact. :-)
  14. A very well crafted article. Not seen the 'counter cuts' argument put so eloquently before... http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23955926-debt-isnt-always-bad-we-may-even-learn-to-love-it.do "A favourite gripe of my father's generation back in the Fifties was that their taxes were being used to pay for the Napoleonic wars. In truth, it was not a very serious gripe, and certainly not the biggest thing to worry about in those times, but it has a certain resonance. Politicians today talk about the burden of public debt being passed on to our children and grandchildren. In truth, every generation of taxpayers has had to pay the bills of its predecessors. Even today, though Napoleon has been taken care of, the Kaiser hasn't. Today's taxpayers may neither know nor care but a small slice of what they hand over to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs every year goes to pay the interest on a couple of billion pounds of debt run up to pay for the First World War and still outstanding. Have a look some time at the Government securities section on a stock market prices page and locate War Loan. Launched in 1916 it is still going strong. And it is you who is paying the interest."

  16. Erm...not sure how I can agree with something that I don't know the reasoning and background to. But, looking at it on the surface (which is all we can do on an internet football forum) "ambivalent" is probably a bit too emotive as a description for Cortese's attitude towards season ticket sales I would venture. I think 'calculating' would probably be a better description given his business acumen.
  17. I'm only going on what OldNick is telling us.... ;-)
  18. Dang....I've been out analogied again... ;-)
  19. Would you rather spend £100 of your hard earned cash on your kid's Christmas presents or £1,000 that you'd stolen from the old lady who lives next door? What would make you feel better? Giving them something bigger and better by immoral means or buying them something you could afford?
  20. And those people will probably attend next season on a 'pay as you go' basis thus contributing to the club's takings, albeit via a different route. Whether they will spend as much at the club on a PAYG basis compared to what they would have spent as a season ticket holder is open to debate of course, but I don't think any of us will know for sure.
  21. I've never crunched the figures but I would imagine there's an optimum number of season ticket sales they would be aiming for rather than an absolute maximum. Collectively, the casual/semi-regular spectators add as much to the coffers, if not more, than season ticket holders do (over the course of a season). I would imagine there is a 'maximum revenue' pivot point which is a fine balance of season ticket holder numbers and 'pay as you go' punters. What is that figure? Who knows?
  22. Pompey (new owner syndrome and all that...)
  23. Walked past Convers Sports "head office" today..... http://www.converssport.com/contact-us It's part of a serviced office complex. Lots of small companies based there it would seem. Space available for anyone interested in a central London office location... http://www.officespacefinders.com/office-property-Bank-5 Looks quite nice from the outside mind you... Make of that what you will. That is all. IMHO of course
  24. I partially agree. But disagree that this would somehow have been different if wholly under public control. The main perpetrator in this case appears to have been mentally predisposed to behave the way he (and his accomplices) did. Indeed, there are reports this morning that he was on a decent wage and that he saw it as a cushy well paid job. So using the 'poor paid and trampled upon private sector worker' plea doesn't wash in this case (as far as I can tell)
