If the 'registration of interest' by city councils in the summer was 'committment free' then I don't understand why Southampton CC didn't register an interest regardless of the uncertain situation with the club at the time. If there was nothing to lose at that stage then surely you register interest and take it from there? Unless, perhaps, it then committed them to start funding their bid campaign ahead of today's decision? Whilst I still beleve England won't win the bid I think there's a whopping oversight by the council here. (it is the council rather than the club that registers an interest isn't it?)

If the level of service being provided by a supplier doesn't match the level of service advertised at time of purchase then one is entitled to a refund. Consumer law and all that.

Anyone know the number of clean sheets in each league thus far this year? (I.e. Prem, CCC, league 1 & 2) I would put a (very) small sum of money on the number of clean sheets across all teams decreases the lower down the leagues one looks. Or, there again, I could be a misguided and irrelevant fool.

Sad news indeed. His 'involvement' in Saints c.April/May 2007 is a period of Saints history that will stay with me for a long time - many a happy evening hunting down his boats and planes! And, from what Cortese said in the press a few months ago, it was the Allen 'story' that first alerted him to our football club. So, in a small, indirect, 'butterfly in bangkok' way, mr Allen helped saved our club. Good luck Sir
