Cue forum meltdown a bit later....

danroan Southampton fans: News Alert-Chairman Nicola Cortese has today broken his silence. Stand by for exclusive BBC interview.

Put some tinsel and fairy lights around Lambert....he stands pretty still these days..... ;-) (joke......of sorts)

Ok. Let's assume for a moment that the Sun made up a 3 line story about a 3rd Division club being up for sale and found space for said story in a fairly prominent place in their multi-million circulation 'Goals' supplement. One question: why on earth would they make up a story as insignificant as that? The fact that 99% of their readership would find this story somewhat mundane would suggest to me that it wasn't made up. That said, whether it came from a 'reliable source' is not so clear cut Just a hunch

Smoke and mirrors? Nah, that would never happen in the world of business and high finance...silly me... ;-)

"The estate of Markus Liebherr"....at which point does someone's "estate" not exist anymore after one's death? Surely, the minute someone else is bequeathed "the estate" it is no longer exists as an estate per se but now belongs to whoever inherited it? Unless of course ML's entire estate was preserved 'in trust' (i.e. as a separate stand alone entity) and as such hasn't actually passed onto anyone? Or it could just mean that the 'company details' section of the website is out of date....

No, it's not distasteful at all. Although no doubt there are a few professional offendees out there who will take offence. As someone else has mooted, there must be different laws in Switzerland as this sort of info is public domain in the UK (i.e. anyone can request anyone's birth/death/marriage certificate within reason)

I see the first consortium meeting has already convened....

New training ground plans available to view now...

Or, it could mean the opposite....i.e. it's easier to sell a 'property' that comes with planning permission for an 'extension' than one that doesn't.... -
Or, maybe, a Cortese/Liebherr 'leak' to the newspaper to arouse interest in the investor community...? Or, maybe not....

SWF Poster: "Hello, is that Southampton Football Club" SFC: "Yes, how may we help?" SWF Poster: "Is the club up for sale?" SFC: "No" SWF Poster: "Ok, thank you very much"

This. Cortese's bankground is investmanet banking (isn't it?) SFC is still a good investment therefore I'm sure he'd be interested in heading up a consortium to take it off the Liebherr's hands, should they ever decide to sell.

We know very little about Markus's day-to-day relationship with the rest of his family. For example, we don't know the reasons why he left the family business, do we? From the anecdotal evidence I suspect you're right but there could be underlying scenarios in the past we don't know about.

Isn't this sort of thing normally published in the Echo first....? -
COAST are playing at the Soul Cellar this Friday. Living proof that the best bands do play Southampton ;-)

Maybe the OP mistakenly typed 'Sun' instead of 'Tea leaves'?

Sigh....getting bored of this "blame the BBC" line.... If the FIFA executive committee are that easily swayed by a TV programme then it says to me that Panarama perhaps had a point. Just think how much they could be swayed by money if they can be swayed by a TV programme....

Why are people surprised we came last? There were 'experts' saying beforehand that we would either come first or last. Something to do with the voting system....i.e. to win it we'd most likely scrape through the first round but then pick up most 2nd and 3rd votes. We obviously failed to do the first round scraping, that is all. Now England supporters know what it feels like to be David Milliband..... ;-)

No surprise. Predicted Russia on here 18 months ago

Substantial snow on Boxing Day too. You heard it here first

It wasn't obvious on 23rd November as it didn;t start snowing until several days later. I was simply using my mystic powers.
