Might be a conflict of interests if Barclays ran a football club given their association with English football (although not directly the Football League, granted). Makes sense in principle though.

Fair point...! Is this the chap...?

That was a strange thing for him to say unprompted IMHO....perhaps there's a hidden message he was trying to convey.....well worth a conspiracy theory or two.... Perhaps our mystery money man is big in chickens....?

So, in theory, when Pinnacle submitted their overnight response on the latest FL position back to the FL earlier today, the FL will have replied either: (a) "Thanks for your reply. We will have someone available to look at this next Tuesday. We will keep you posted" or (b) "Thanks for your reply. Our top man was expecting it and is looking through it now and we'll get back to you by 5pm with a decision one way or the other" ?

If MLT wasn't linked to Pinnacle what would you think now?
trousers replied to modern matron's topic in The Saints
So, it would be MLT as chairman and Crouch as 'President'...perhaps? -
Such a picture did the rounds last time so there's one out there somewhere
-
No, it was reported that way...on the formal Stock Exchange announcment at the time....it stated categorically that the SLH board appointed the administrators. Yes, Barclays withdrew their support but the actual act of going into administration was an action taken by the SLH board.

Indeed. If, as some are saying, that technically the Football League does not recognise the existence of the current PRE-TAKEOVER 'version' of Southampton Football Club then why have they included SFC in their starting league tables and fixture list for next year? Why does a change of ownership affect the status of the club in the eyes of the Football League?
-
Apologies for the 'bump' but does anyone have an inkling or insight into the frequency and duration of Pinnacle's meetings with the Football League? I'm not after exact times and places just whether we've got the services of a dedicated FL 'team' or whether they are having to squeeze in chats into the already busy schedules of the FL reps dealing with our case. Thanks

Perhaps they are chasing him?

Cheers - yep, I got the gist of your point...I was just throwing the devil's advocate hat into the ring by asking what would be the 'flaw' in Crouch being back at the helm (under new ownership). That said, it's an old chestnut debate that one so probably best if I didn't disturb the dust on that one! -
Now the exclusivity period is over, isn't Fry duty bound to interact with anyone who approaches him regardless of his own personal confidence levels with the Pinnacle position? In other words, he couldn't turn around to 'consortium X' and say "thanks for your request for a meeting - I will have to decline though as I'm very confident that Pinnacle will complete very soon". Could he?
-
Just to clarify.....Are Pinnacle in 'constant' discussion with the Football League or are they having to wait until the League representatives dealing with this case are, for instance, out of other meetings? In other words, do the FL have a dedicated rep, or reps, on our case?
-
When was that 'announced'? I always understood it would be the existing (solvent) Football Club that the new owner will be buying. Where does a 'new club' come into it. Advanced apologies if I've missed a statement to this effect somewhere...
-
Sounds like the 'estate agent' didn't get the planning permission from the council in writing then? As such, and to extend the analogy, why would someone get so far down the line to buying the house and land without seeing a written guarantee, much earlier in the process, that the adjacent land could be used for the purposes mentioned in the estate agent's original sales patter? Caveat emptor?

Indeed. A bit like buying a house with planning permission for an extension already in place, or some way down the approval process. -

Fair point. I'd have still filled out, and sent off, the appeal form to at least get an appeal reference number from the FL....just to get a foot in the door in case Malwhinny changed his mind about accepting an appeal.....Ah...! -
That reporter had a brief second to snatch the contract out of his hand. What a missed opportunity...

Very good question. Someone on here ( ) has been banging on about what the 'current' SFC Ltd board has been doing this last 2 - 3 months....there must be a simple explanation for the inactivity on instigating the actual appeal process in that time....what harm would it have done for Tointon or Jones to have filled out a form and sent it to the FL straight after that TV interview with Malwhinny where he said the club could appeal ? At least the wheels would have been in motion long before now... Something doesn't add up -
Did you just say "hope"...?

I was thinking the same too. Would we (SFC) 'care' if we didn't know what points any other club was starting on? I wouldn't. As you say, it doesn't matter at this stage of the season whereas the Football League are saying it does matter. -

Ok, so the FL are saying to Pinnacle (perhaps): "Ok, you've got a good case BUT if we give you the right to appeal it will take longer than between now and the start of the season to resolve due to length of the appeal process and that's why we can't agree to an appeal" So, in other words, the FL aren't (possibly) dismissing the right to appeal in principle, rather they are saying there isn't enough time to go through the appeal process any more.... I can sort of see where they are coming from if that's the case
