What was the answer?

Slight tangent I guess, but anyone know of any research into how much subsidiary/peripheral business and jobs a professional football club the size of Saints brings to a City such as Southampton? i.e. local shops and pubs, transport providers, etc. If this could be quantified then surely the council would be able to justify investing a proportion of local tax revenues in protecting these local jobs and businesses that benefit directly or indirectly from the Club's presence?

Cheers for that. I guess that's reassuring for any new owners and/or the Administrators.

As an aside, when does the current Flybe sponsorship deal come to an end?

For those who missed/ignored it first time around....

Perhaps he's just had bad role models?

Doesn't "existing" suggest they have "already invested" - unless I'm reading your reply wrongly?

Let's have some names of potential new owners then...

It's this last Lamb clue that intrigues me most... -
Cheers Derry. Got a link to the website that appeared on? Thanks

"Criteria City status is not, and never has been, a right which can be claimed by a town fulfilling certain conditions. The use of specific criteria could lead to a town claiming city status as of right, which in turn might devalue the honour. All applications are considered on their individual merits. Must a city have a cathedral? No. " http://www.dca.gov.uk/constitution/city/citygj.htm#part2

I've never understood this 'bid situation' malarkey. It seems a pretty fine line to me. Surely we've been courting investment in some shape or form over the last 24+ months yet, a tyre kicker knocking on the door seems to be a good enough trigger for the boys and girls at the LSE to raise the 'bid situation' flag....

Who are 'they'? The usual few suspects or a significant number of people? Who? (quotes would be helpful)

The only part of your post I agree with is the 'selective memory' bit.... Name 5 posters who "have been pleading" for Admin (along with supporting quotations) and I'll eat a badger. (I may of course have selective memory over that last bit in due course....)

a.k.a. Phil knows about something going on behind the scenes.....? -
Cheers. Yep, first name sounded like Kevin, but the surname was a bit muffled. I couldn't see a 'Kevin' anyone on the Administrator's list of partners though...hang on a minute - perhaps it's their head man? Isn't the firm called Traynor? Could be what they said. Anyway, it's not that important....he's only the bloke in charge of our football club right now!!!

Lowe still a director of Southampton Football Club Limited
trousers replied to Beer Engine's topic in The Saints
Yeah...that's the fella's name who I couldn't hear very well on the audio. The Administrator was quite clear that all previous FOOTBALL CLUB directors had gone, apart from David Jones (aka the bloke in charge of the finances the last few years....) -
But, rightly or wrongly, in their minds it was a 'no choice' scenario. i.e. "Admin was inevitable so let's stop burying how heads in the sand and accept it's going to happen". My understanding of the thrust behind this thread is that the likes of Stanley & co (whether wind ups or not) were that they were making a choice between "Admin" or "no Admin". There's a subtkle difference between WANTING admin when there is a viable, more attractive alternative versus making a judgement that Admin is inevitable. Difficult to articulate but I believe there is a difference.

How about Aviva repossess the stadium, effectively writing off most of our debt and take us over in the process. Ah, forgot they're in trouble too....doh

Suggest changing the thread title so it talks about a singular person than plural people then....?

Semi- serious question on the back of this 'new team' thread....what is the deadline for entering/registering a new club into whatever non-league we would have to enter at for next season? Is this something 'someone' ought to be thinking about 'now' in parallel to what's going on with the 'current version' of club? I'd hate to see the situation where SFC went under after such a deadline and we're left with nowt for next season, not even a phoenix version of the club.
