The bare stats do tend to dispell the "Hughes kept us up" 'mythology', however, IIRC, he adopted a totally demoralized squad that a lot of fans were wondering where we were going to get another point from, let alone another 8. So, it could be argued that he kept us up by getting those 8 points as it was more points than Pellegrino would have likely got us. All that said, I'm firmly in the 'Hughes must go' camp as things stand.
