  1. Nice one. Enjoyed that
  2. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46467268 "Championship strugglers Reading have sacked manager Paul Clement"
  3. Its as far removed from textbook as one is likely to get
  4. The thing is, even when a team goes up a few gears there's no guarantee that they'll convert the increased number of chances they'll get. There are plenty of games like last night where the team coasting along get pipped by the team going full tilt depending on the rub of the green. All ifs and buts I know but the bottom line is we had enough decent chances and near misses to nick a point, despite Spurs not being in top gear.
  5. Spurs fan on the radio just now: "Southampton played well. They were unlucky not to get something out of the game. The scoreline flattered us"
  6. Whilst accepting that Spurs had several gears they could have moved up into, if we'd had the rub of the green (e.g. 3 strikes against the woodwork) then a draw wouldn't have been a totally outrageous result IMO. That said, with the usual schoolboy errors in defence, and our cutting edge up front being blunter than a sponge, Ralph has certainly got his work cut out if he's going to haul us out of this relegation scrap.
  7. Off the bar AGAIN!!! FFS Goooaaalllll !!!!! Austin
  8. We've had enough decent chances to have scored 2 or 3 here.
  9. FFS! Loris save
  10. Targett off target FFS
  11. Shoot Davis FFS!!!!!! WTF?
  12. How has no-one got on the end of that JWP free kick FFS?
  13. Redmond off the bar
  14. That 'logic' assumes that we'd have finished 17th if Pellegrino had stayed at the helm. If, in that alternate reality, Pellegrino took Saints down to 20th, then the person who steered us to 17th had a positive effect on the outcome.
  15. If you feel we'd have got the 8 points we ended up needing to survive with Pellegrino still at the helm then, yes, he would be worthy of the same level of credit as Hughes. (If you take those remaining games in isolation) I happen to believe we'd have been relegated had Pellegrino stayed, ergo the appointment of Hughes was a factor in us staying up IMO.
  16. Thought he was injured? If he's fit then yep, agree, it'll be Long instead of Obefemi.
  17. In which case, guess we're looking something like the following starting 11....? ---------------------------------- McCarthy ---------------------------------- ------------ Stephens ------------ Yoshida ------------ Bednarek ----------- Cedric ---------------------------------------------------------------- Targett ----------------------------------- Romeu ------------------------------------ ---------- Hojbjerg ------------ Armstrong ------------- Redmond --------- ---------------------------------- Obefemi ------------------------------------ (or JWP in for one of the 3 CBs if playing a back 4)
  18. Good. I do like it when people agree with each other on here. Long may it continue! p.s. if we finish in, say, 12th place this season, will that be something we can put down to Hasenhuttl replacing Hughes, or will it solely be due to 8 teams not getting as many points as us?
  19. No.

  21. Didn't realise Glasgow had yet another login
  22. I'd have been equally happy with Marcelo Bielsa (would have been little chance of us prizing him out Leeds, I know, but the question seems to be coming from a theoretical/philisophical perspective?)
