  1. To be fair, we were understandably sitting on a 3-0 cushion at the time and no need to bust a gut for the sake of it
  2. Worldy free kick from JWP! 6-2
  3. McCarthy... Lol Stay where you are Forster.... All is forgiven

    Away tickets

Has anyone asked the club directly why they adopt this over cautious approach and what was their reply?
  5. 1-0 Barnes (8 mins) from a JWP corner
  6. If Hesketh can recapture the form he was in a couple of years ago, whereby he warranted a call up to the first team, he could help plug the gap we have in the out-and-out attacking midfielder department (along with Josh Sims, who's due back in November/December IIRC)
  7. Strong line up. Good to see Hesketh back in action
  8. No recall for Gallagher then?
  9. Reminded me of the heart-on-sleeve interviews that Fonte used to give in the not too distant past after disappointing performances...
  10. One assumes the script is all set for JRod to score upon his return to St Mary's....? My line up off the top of my head (FWIW): McCarthy Bertrand VvD Yoshida Cedric Romeu Davis Boufal Lemina Gabbi Long subs: Forster, Targett/McQueen, Hoedt, JWP/Hojbjerg, Tadic, Redmond, Austin
  11. Sums it up nicely. Which is the reason why we should play Boufal more often IMO. He adds some unpredictability to the mix.
  12. Just back from the game. Another frustrating display. Positives...? Just a few: Gabbi... a superb individual goal and a well taken penalty. Hopefully this is the start of a goal spree for him. Lemina... Another MotM performance from him. A class act. Boufal... made a difference when he came on. Have been crying out for him to get a run in the team for weeks and, after today, if he doesn't replace Redmond in the starting 11 next week I'll be baffled. A draw was just about a fair result as Newcastle weren't much cop either. And I'm hoping VvD's apparent lethargy is more down to lack of matches rather than an underlying attitude issue. He could have done better/more for both goals IMO. P.s. the less said about the ref the better...
  13. All subs out on the pitch warming up so looks like no subs at half time.
  14. What sums it up for me is that we had a free kick 25 yards out and no-one seemed interested in having a crack at goal. Instead, we did the obvious floated ball over to the far post. So predictable. Surely that free kick was van Dijk territory? Lack of confidence or following manager's orders?
  15. At the game. Dreadful. That is all.
  16. It depends....
  17. We're hurtling through the universe at c.823,193 MPH on a path to certain oblivion. Not sure if that helps put things into perspective?
  18. Available to watch on iPlayer catch-up here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b099127s/motd-the-premier-league-show-behind-the-scenes-at-southampton
  19. Long is training normally today it would seem...
  20. Cheers Guys - all makes sense.
  21. I get the underlying principles, but that's not why I raised the thread. I was simply curious as to why the old charge needed replacing with a new one, given the company name under which the charge is raised has remained the same, i.e. 'Southampton Football Club Ltd', despite the change in ownership. Maybe it's a simple case of corporate bureaucracy whereby a charge has to be renewed if the ownership of a company changes, or perhaps there's more to it than that? Hence my curiosity.
  22. No, it's the definition of a Pompey fan
