  1. Ones that don't also play in the u21s (I guess?)
  2. Loan in a new first choice I guess?

  4. According to this 2024 article, a likely reason Spors didn't get the Newcastle DoF job is that his philosophy was/is that clubs should aim to buy players that play in the same country, and his lack of experience in England counted against him. Not something that discouraged Sport Republic from employing him then...? Could this partly explain our slow transfer window activity so far...? https://www.geordiebootboys.com/news/how-johannes-spors-may-have-talked-himself-out-of-newcastle-united-sporting-director-job/
  5. Whilst I generally like @Matthew Le God, he does do a disappearing act fairly often when asked a question to which he can't quickly respond with one of his pre-prepared "gotcha"s. A quick "yeah, ok, fair point" would suffice but I'm not sure backing down like that is quite his thing... #trousers:amateurpsychologistextraordinaire
  6. Probably right, although there were plenty of us who commented on how good he was after the Rotherham game... I even remember myself saying that he had a bit of a Jordan Pickford vibe about him (I was at the game that day, in the Northam just behind the goal, so got to see him close up). I'm not usually one for hyperbole but I remember flagging this fella as someone who looked a bit special. But, yep, there'd have been plenty who would've been unhappy if we'd signed him for the PL.
  7. Cheers @S-Clarke for going to the trouble of documenting our transfer history under SR.... Grim reading indeed. This post needs to be pinned somewhere so it's easily referenced after every inept SR transfer window...
  8. Tweaked it for you
  9. It did occur to me to caveat that when asking the question... It is still school holiday season after all....
  10. Good job we've got a top-notch recruitment team who'll obviously spend it wisely... Ah...
  11. That'll be certain other posters rubbing off on me...
  12. And there was me thinking a club with aspirations to go up automatically this season would want a top level player (in this division) in such a key position to maximise our chances of achieving that aim... Maybe I'm just a tad too old fashioned...
  13. Where would you rank him versus his peers in this division? Genuine question.
  14. Cheers for the info. So, is anyone happy that a team with the 19th best keeper in the league is well placed to push for automatic promotion?
  15. No, I think some people are "melting down" because it rubber stamps Bazunu as our first choice keeper and without a decent 2nd choice keeper pushing for his place. Lol
  16. That only stacks up if you're happy that Bazunu is one of the best keepers in the division. If that's your viewpoint then fair enough.
  17. Nope, too sensible...
  18. Classic first post. Take a bow sir 🤣
  19. For those who don't see having Bazunu as our No.1 keeper as a significant issue, where would you rank him amongst all other championship keepers? Genuinely interested. If Bazunu is one of the best keepers in the division then I have no issue with getting in a squad filler as 3rd choice.
  20. So, now it's been rubber-stamped that Bazunu will be our first choice keeper, where do we rate him amongst his Championship peers? Obviously, to be challenging for automatic promotion we need to aspire to have the best (or almost best) players in all positions, or at the very least in the key positions, such as goalkeeper. So can anyone name 2, or more, better keepers than Bazunu in this division...?
  21. Dragan Solak: "We have learned from our mistakes"
  22. Martin may well be better at coaching, per se, the trouble is, often what he coaches isn't necessarily the best fit for the players he's coaching....
  23. Indeed. And this is what the "don't worry, we've got proven players at this level" fraternity conveniently turn a blind to. If the players' hearts and souls aren't fully committed to the club then it doesn't matter a jot how good they are technically and what they've achieved at this level before....
  24. @Matthew Le God - grateful if you could let this poster know that our recruitment team is currently working 24/7. Cheers 👍🏻
