I haven't read back through the whole thread from 2014, but my impression from reading the first couple of pages is that there was generally a positive vibe about our dealings. Much more so than this time, that's for sure.

Interesting (perhaps) to compare reactions to this transfer window with that of two years ago when we were in a similar scenario (new manager, a few key players leaving, etc) Here's the post deadline day thread from 2014: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?51659-September-One-Judgement-Day And a summary of the transfers: Most seemed happy with the business done in that window (headline profit of £23.4m).

Cue SWF stock answer to that kind of question...

Sir. Could I be so bold to ask that you precede such posts with a "### PRAGMATISM KLAXON ###" in future? It would give readers fair warning that they are about to read something unusual and potentially startling on this forum. Thank you kindly.

If they're following the script, cue a "so, alternative opinions on a message board aren't allowed now are they?" retort from one of the usual protagonists any moment now. Act 7 Scene 3.... And, action....

To be fair to the mods, they usually catch up with goings on about 5 weeks after everyone else.... (no offence Jimmy_D )

Club sticks to philosophy shocker
-
Whether we (the fans) like it or not, the club have made it crystal clear over the last few years that our adopted philosophy is to "breed not buy success". With the current regime in place, that is what we will continue to do. They are simply carrying out the philosophy laid down by Markus Liebherr when he bought us. It's been a relatively successful philosophy the last few years. Maybe one day it will stop being successful. Or maybe it will continue to serve us well for the foreseeable future. Who knows. All we do know is that the only way this philosophy will change is if/when there is regime change at the club. So, as fans, we can either go with the flow or call for regime change. I'm currently in the 'go with the flow' camp. That may change, or it may not. Who knows...

Fair point

Ok, fair enough. I asked just in case you had put some thought into possible alternatives. No worries.

Didn't one of our financial gurus on here recently explain why we might need/want to sell early? I think the logic was that if we sell assets before the end of the financial year (i.e. 30th June) then we get to spend more on wages in the next financial year? And the more we increase our wages (within the FFP) the more, in the longer term, we can spend on players. (It seemed to make sense when I read what they posted but I can't recall the reason in depth.)

Which alternative player(s) would you entice to sign for us to sit on the bench for much of the season?
-
Edit: sorry, I lost it there for a moment. Couldn't believe you just posted such a notion on the SaintsWeb Forum....
-
We won't know the answer to that until the end of this season. The new intake might end up being better than those that have left, or they might end up being worse.
-
Ah, that would explain the recent rise in certain activity on the main board on here then...

Stop moaning FFS!!
