Saints v West Ham Build Up - Game now Saturday 6th Feb 1730
Matthew Le God replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
The lowest we can be by the end of the weekend is 10th, unless Palace have a 12 goal swing in goal difference. 10th Stoke and 11th Everton can't both overtake us. -
How do you manage to post something bizarre every single time? Why have you jumped to the conclusion he is a "fitness liability" because he misses the game tonight?

Saints didn't need him unless Wanyama left... Wanyama didn't leave.

Transfer Deadline Day Thread
Matthew Le God replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Premier League clubs cannot loan in any players this season after today. The incoming transfer and loan window for Saints ends today. In a weeks time the emergency loan window opens and we can loan out players to Football League clubs. -

Prime example of click bait. -
Which two clubs do you think they'll get a Champions League place from these... Leicester, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, Man Utd? I think there is a far better chance of us being above West Ham at 10pm February 8th after we play them at St Mary's than West Ham making the Champions League this season. Possible for us to also go above them on 2nd February.

Its not a story by Sports Bible, they have rehashed it from an article in The Sun and even link to the Sun. Not that the Sun is a reliable source either, for example their recent bizarre Wanyama swap for Townsend story.
-
Its not that mysterious, Adam Blackmore said Koeman told him on Thursday that Targett and Davis had been suffering from stiffness during the week and were doubts.

How many Premier League managers have been on 1 year rolling contracts in recent history? It is unusual if you can't name many more than one manager in recent history who has managed a Premier League club on a rolling contract. Ferguson also is slightly different as he was a club legend and was 64 years old when he started using a 1 year rolling contract. At the time they were unsure when exactly he'd retire, okay he carried on into his 70's, but it is a very different situation to Koeman.

We'd probably have 7 defensively minded players plus the keeper. I'm not sure what else beyond pressing you want the 3 attacking players in a 3-5-2 system to do. If they are constantly deep we'd have no outlet.
-
What is your definition of helping out defensively, because if you press high you need the forwards to do a lot of work which both Mane and Long do. That is helping out defensively.
-
Why is having 3 attacking players "Kamikaze" if there are 3 centre backs, 2 wing backs and 2 defensive midfielders behind them?

19th - Inter Milan - €164.8m 20th - West Ham - €160.9m 21st - Galatasaray - €159.1m 22nd - Southampton - €149.5m Pompey nowhere to be seen. http://www2.deloitte.com/content/dam/Deloitte/uk/Documents/sports-business-group/uk-deloitte-sport-football-money-league-2016.pdf Will look even better once we benefit from the new TV deal next season.

Switch a few words around and I think this works for you... It really is painful to read your posts of the last 10 years. Cheer up ffs Alpine.

I'd go with 3-5-2 again, Clasie back in for Ward-Prowse... Forster van Dijk Fonte Bertrand Cedric Targett Wanyama Clasie Davis Long Mane Subs: Stekelenburg Yoshida Romeu Ward-Prowse Tadic Pelle Austin If the subs looks like that on Saturday I think you could make a good case for it being the best ever Southampton subs bench in the history of the club.

It's OK ...as long as your face fits.....

A 4 and a half year contract means it is until 30th June 2020. -
Can you enlighten me as to how saying Stekelenburg did little wrong isn't an opinion? It just happens to be one that doesn't match yours it seems.
-
Forster being back is certainly pleasing, but it isn't the reason why we've had two clean sheets in the last two games. The outfield players have played so well in those matches meaning Forster barely had anything to do apart deal with a small number of very tame shots, a couple of crosses and some back passes. I'd prefer Forster in goal over Stekelenburg, but the latter did little wrong when he played. He recieved a lot of harsh stick on these forums for goals he had no chance of saving. His kicking and distribution was also good.

Very heavy rain over a prolonged period and 3 home games in 7 days. What did you expect it would look like after that?
