Its depressing if you always (and with you always means ALWAYS) look for the negative. This thread is based on something that isn't true, a read of the article it is based on shows that. The BBC were unable to comprehend the article and gave a very poor summary which distorted it to say something it didn't. "It will happen" - why on earth would Koeman want to leave Saints to go to Newcastle? We'd be better off if this thread was locked by the mods to stop the likes of alpine_saint having panic attacks and slitting their wrists.

None of us have even seen Alderweireld or Mane play at all for Saints, let alone giving the other new players a good amount of game time before writing them off compared to those they replaced. The only player I'm confident won't be an upgrade... is Bertrand for Shaw, but even still he's been very solid so far.

Along with Harrison Reed the England senior team during the week also used an Exeter City keeper and Barnsley midfielder to make up the numbers in training. Reed does look promising, but by itself him training with the senior team doesn't appear to mean a huge deal. Later that day Reed was on the bench for England under 20's, so was the Barnsley midfielder and Exeter City keeper. Looks more like them just using players from the under 20's who weren't going to start for the under 20's that day to make up numbers for the senior England side who were training at the same training ground.

For a £27m (rising to £31m) player like Shaw to be on £50k p/w, it stands out as extremely low. Again as Steve Grant said, perhaps the £50k p/w you believe it to be is after tax, which given the bracket Shaw would be in makes his wage significantly higher than £50k p/w.

As Steve Grant said to you, it might be £50k p/w after tax. Because a £27m (rising to £31m) player on £50k p/w stands out as being extremely low. If he really is on £50k p/w he needs to find himself a new agent, because others could get him a far better deal than that, especially when negotiating with Ed Woodward!
