You think if there was a French/Spanish/German/Italian etc 25 year old who was the 4th top scorer in the Premier League with 18 goals in 35 games for a relegated side... he would be worth £6m?
-
In 2009 he was 28 years old at at his peak, he is now 34 years old... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/7803353.stm. We also had a terrible team that day compared to that current one... Davis, James, Perry, Lancashire, Skacel, Smith (Holmes 69), McGoldrick, Gillett (Schneiderlin 56), Surman, Gobern (McLaggon 56), Paterson.

James Milner 2014/15 (league only): 1 goal every 349 minutes 1 assist every 219 minutes Raheem Sterling 2014/15 (league only): 1 goal every 435 minutes 1 assist every 381 minutes

Rodriguez has returned - BREAKING: NEW CONTRACT SIGNED
Matthew Le God replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
At times we did. Like with Koeman, we didn't use the same formation throughout the entire game & switched back and forth. Under Pochettino we sometimes had either Wanyama or Schneiderlin as a DM, two CM's in front and then Lallana, Rodriguez and Lambert as a front three. Or we used a 4-2-3-1 system with Davis for example in the number 10 role. Plus the labelling of formations is very subjective, one person's 4-5-1 can easily be viewed by someone else as a 4-2-3-1. A 4-3-3 and a 4-1-4-1 can also be mixed easily, or a 5-3-2 and a 3-5-2. -

The requirements would have to be loosened (which could happen in an emergency relocation), as we don't have enough stadiums of the right size (40-45k+), nor the right number of 5* hotels in certain cities. Plus in FIFA's rules you can't have a large number of stadiums in one city, although they seem to have been lax with most of the Qatar stadiums being very close to Doha. -

If you are redeveloping stadiums, then you don't "have the facilities" as he claimed. - White Hart Lane isn't being redeveloped, they are building a new stadium. - Molineux has a capacity of 31,000 - Anfield is currently being expanded - you have listed 5 London stadiums -

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33005152 UK Sport Secretary John Whittingdale MP says we "have the facilities in this country", but we don't. England's original 2018 bid included... - A new stadium in Nottingham - Expanding and improving Bristol City's stadium or building a new one - Expanding and improving Hillsborough - Expanding and improving Elland Road - Expanding stadium:mk - Expanding Home Park Derby, Leicester, Portsmouth and Hull also made bids but didn't get on the final list of the England 2018 bid. All would need big changes to their stadiums. -
I just did it quickly, point still stands if I worded it like... "The game after the Everton game was the Crystal Palace match and Schneiderlin was available again after missing the Sheff Utd game. It was hardly a surprise Reed missed out."
-
He is only 20 years old and he played in 25 Premier League games (starting 16 of them) this season. Plus he was injured from the Swansea game on 20th September until the Burnley game on 13th December! How many other 20 years old in the Premier League had that much game time? Let alone one playing for a team that came 7th, with the extra competition for places that brings. Its a tiny number of players!

The game after the Crystal Palace match and Schneiderlin was available again after missing the Sheff Utd game. It was hardly a surprise Reed missed out. They play in different roles and Ward-Prowse is more advanced in his development... being an important member of the England under 21 side and due to be called up by the senior team later this year. Ward-Prowse isn't in competition for a start with Schneiderlin and Wanyama in the same way Reed is. Ward-Prowse plays in a more advanced role and Koeman played him 25 times in the Premier League (plus he had a long injury). How many other Premier League managers give that much game time to 20 year olds?
-
Based on what? He is 20 years old and wasn't going to displace Schneiderlin or Wanyama in central midfield last season and is also behind Ward-Prowse and S.Davis in the pecking order. That doesn't mean Koeman doesn't "rate" him, if he didn't rate him then he wouldn't have been used as much as he was last season in match day squads.

DONE DEAL: Saints sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loan
Matthew Le God replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
No I wouldn't, I'd think he was nuts. I've been critical of managers in the past, but for the last 6 years under Liebherr ownership we've been extremely successful. -
He has been released by 17th placed Aston Villa because he isn't good enough for them, Saints will have their sights sets a lot higher. Weimann is close to joining a Championship side... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32989516

Lower numbers of years for parachute payments mean that if a relegated team are promoted again quickly then Saints get a % of the money. In the case of this season, Norwich being promoted after only one year in the Championship means that Saints get a share of the money Norwich would have had if they stayed in the Championship. With the parachute years reducing it increases the chance of Saints getting more money.

DONE DEAL: Saints sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loan
Matthew Le God replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
Two of his games for Fulham were against Saints, we won 3-0 and 2-0 but he wasn't at fault for any of the 5 goals, nor did he make any notable errors and he actually made few good saves. His problem at Fulham appeared to me that the team in front of him was terrible defensively. Fulham 0 Saints 3 http://www.player.saintsfc.co.uk/latest-news/article/3650415/date/20140202235800/page/0/name/extended-highlights--fulham-0-3-saints Saints 2 Fulham 0 http://www.player.saintsfc.co.uk/latest-news/article/3512956/date/20131027235900/page/0/name/extended-highlights--saints-2-0-fulham I was at both games. -
From 2016/17 parachute payments will be over 3 years not the current 4, if relegated in your 1st season after promotion you only get 2 years of payments. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jun/02/parachute-payments-clubs-relegated-premier-league 2014/15 Championship - clubs receiving parachute payments 1st - no 2nd - no ............... 3rd - yes (1st year payments) 4th - no 5th - no 6th - no ............. 7th - yes (3rd year payments) 8th - no 9th - yes (3rd year payments) 10th - no 11th - yes (1st year payments) 12th - no 13th - no 14th - no 15th - no 16th - no 17th - yes (1st year payments) 18th - yes (3rd year payments) 19th - yes (2nd year payments) 20th - no 21st - no .......................... 22nd - no 23rd - yes (2nd year payments) 24th - yes (4th year payments)

DONE DEAL: Saints sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loan
Matthew Le God replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
Was he? He was signed by Martin Jol and was injured on his debut in August 2013 and returned in late October, when Felix Magath took over he fell out of favour for reasons unknown (could be anything with Magath in charge!). What did he do wrong exactly brief number of Premier league games? That is a tiny sample in comparison to his 400+ senior game career for Ajax, Roma and Holland. He must have been doing something pretty well previously. -

Stekelenberg was willing to be a backup keeper in 2014/15. If he joins he'll play a lot of next season and could also feature in cup games when Forster is back. Fraser Forster is our long term first choice and will play when he is fit again. Forster certainly didn't join us to play second fiddle to anyone. -

Targett and Ward-Prowse are both in the 23 man squad, with Dier, Bamford, Woodrow and Afobe the ones to miss out from the original 27 man squad. -
It doesn't really prove anything about van Dijk, Boyata may simply be Denayer's replacement. 2014/15 Man City loaned Celtic centre back Jason Denayer 2015/16 Man City sell centre back Dedryck Boyata to Celtic
