  1. And the market most used after England in a list of all Cortese's signings is...? Italy! Which just so happens to be his home country. What Saints have been doing fits the criteria for this in the FM research process and the head of English research was happy that it did. If it bothers you that much, then ask Cortese in game to remove it, or do so in the editor. I believe however it reflects real life events at Saints and Cortese influence over transfers. Something many on the main forum have spoken about in the last 4 years.
  2. It isn't asking you to buy Italian nationals, its players of any nationality from the Italian leagues. Whilst Cortese is chairman it isn't unreasonable to think Saints will continue to scout Serie A for players. It is a market Cortese knows and appears to like dealing with. It isn't a long term set in stone forever philosophy for the club in FM14, just one whilst Cortese is running the club. When he leaves, that philosophy will go.
  3. Under Cortese Southampton have made the signed the following players whose previous club was in Italy... Papa Waigo Guly Do Prado Gaston Ramirez Artur Boruc Dani Osvaldo ...and Saints have been linked in the media with lots of other Italian based players (Astori, Nainggolan, Sørensen, Mariga etc), which shows Saints are using that market more so than any other outside the UK. So is it really "********"? Whilst Cortese is chairman it isn't unreasonable to think Saints will continue to scout Serie A for players. It is a market Cortese knows and appears to like dealing with. It isn't a long term set in stone forever philosophy for the club in FM14, just one whilst Cortese is running the club. If you don't want it as a philosophy you can ask Cortese nicely for it to be removed.

  5. Filmed in 2003 when Saints played Steaua Bucharest in the UEFA Cup... [video=youtube;s3g-IIrb3oE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3g-IIrb3oE
  6. He keeps being linked to big European clubs, does that not suggest to some of his critics he may possibly not be as bad as they like to make out? Yes, he has been frustratingly inconsistent for Saints, but you can see he has the makings of a top, top player. I really can't see Cortese selling him at a loss just over a year into a 4 year deal.
  7. Rule V.7.6.2. is about the the temporary transfer of a goalkeeper and say it is at the "absolute discretion the Board may allow in circumstances it considers to be exceptional". The Premier League rules don't make any mention of a club having 3 keepers. Man City signed Martin Fulop on an emergency keeper loan in April 2010 when Shay Given was injured. At the time they had these keepers available to them... Stuart Taylor Gunnar Nielson Tobias Johansen David González It is at the Premier League board's discretion if they let you have an emergency goalkeeper loan from the start of September to the end of December or the start of February to the end of the season.
  8. When did that happen?
  9. Clyne left back, Chambers right back isn't a bad plan b. Fox at left back would be a disaster, as the Swansea game highlighted.
  10. Cody Cropper Saints already have a 1st team keeper coach, an under 21 keeper coach and youth team keeper coaches. Why would Kelvin give up 2 1/2 years of a Premier League player wage to be a coach?
  11. The free demo and an updated version of the beta is now on Steam. You will need to have downloaded Steam and created an account - if you haven't done that yet, you can do so here... http://store.steampowered.com/about/ Once you've launched and logged into Steam... 1. In the search bar, type Football Manager 2014 Demo 2. On the right hand side click the 'DOWNLOAD DEMO' button (you may need to scroll down to see this) 3. Follow the instructions to complete the download The Demo lasts for 6 in-game months and, as with the Beta, you can carry on your save when you have the full game.
  12. About anything in particular?
  13. They might take Derby County's record of 11 points in 2007/08 at this rate.
  14. But unlike the actual league table it projects what things might be like at the finish, using previous data of similar events last year to fill in the blanks of the remaining 29 games in combination with what we know from the opening 9 games. All harmless fun. Cheer up.
  15. Well its a projection based on similar data from last season. I think it is quite a good projection and becomes more accurate with each result. Hence the "rolling" part of the thread title.
  16. They got 89 points in 2012/13, they are -8 points down on the corresponding fixtures in 2013/14. Which gives them a projection of 81 points. Saints on the other hand had 41 points in 2012/13 and have 14 more points in 2013/14 from corresponding fixtures so their current projection is for 55 points.
  17. How does a "rolling league table" work? - Take the nine 2013/14 games played for Saints so far. - Look at how they compare with the corresponding games in 2012/13. - For example Saints lost at Liverpool last season 1-0, but this year Saints won at Anfield so Saints are given +3 points. - Add all them up and Saints are +14 points better off this season than from the 9 corresponding games last season. What about the promoted/relegated teams? - You swap the results of the promoted sides with that of last seasons relegated sides. - Swapping Wigan for Cardiff, Reading for Hull and QPR for Palace How does the projection part work? - Man Utd got 89 points in 2012/13, they are -8 points down on the corresponding fixtures in 2013/14. Which gives them a projection of 81 points. - Saints had 41 points in 2012/13, they are +14 points up on the corresponding fixtures in 2013/14. Which gives them a projection of 55 points. Although it has its flaws as a projection, I quite like it and as the season progresses the projection should become more accurate after each game.
  18. I bet no-one can watch this and not smile... "Who's a naughty boy?!" Should've been a red card really, still funny though. But not as funny as Scott Parker walking Berbatov to Lambert, telling him to mark him from the corner and then Berbatov leaving Lambert free to score seconds later!
  19. Perhaps they miss the key point to an academy, creating players for the first team. Instead they might be concentrating on a good team unit that does well in youth leagues/cups without having any outstanding individuals that can progress into the first team like Saints do.
  20. She isn't his replacement, she doesn't work with the first team like Nick Harvey did.
  21. What do you mean by that? It was just the standard pre-match press conference Saints have before every league or cup game.
  22. Guy Whittingham unaware that Sonny Bradley's suspension after picking up a 5th booking will still count. http://audioboo.fm/boos/1678936 I'd like to see him name Bradley in the team for Saturday!
  23. I'd bet Cortese already has an idea who he'd want to replace him if he either sacked Pochettino or if Pochettino left.
  24. What Rodgers did at Swansea and Moyes did at Everton was impressive considering their resources.
