Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC 1h Guly misses out with a knock picked up in training, and the game comes too soon for Maya Yoshida and Gastón Ramírez. #saintsfc -
Absolute rubbish! Why have you even bothered with this? 1 hour ago he was in Hong Kong playing for Manchester CIty... Unless he has used a tele-porter from the other side of the planet it is time to close this thread.

Danny Fox, Frazer Richardson Maya Yoshida and Jack Cork played around 30 games at full back for Southampton last season. Naughton would get a lot of games.

Channel Four should repeat this tonight...

Why does it matter if they were the "worst side in the league" or had a man sent off in the second half? Saints played well in that game, which was the point I was responding to. Plus both strikers scored.
-
Why does his age matter? England need players to perform at the World Cup next summer. He'll still be a good player next summer, why does it matter if he doesn't play at tournaments beyond 2014? If England are always building for future tournaments they'll struggle to do well at any of them. They lack a goal threats that Lambert would provide them with.

To count as an under 21 and not have to be included on the 25 man list for 2013/14 you have to be born on or after 1st January 1992. - Paulo Gazzaniga was born on 2nd January 1992, so still counts (just! ) as an under 21 player for Saints in 2013/14. - Victor Wanyama was born on 25th June 1991, so doesn't count as an under 21 player and has to be included as one of the 25 man squad.

If he "ain't going nowhere" then that would mean he is going somewhere. Double negative.

PRE-SEASON: Palamós CF vs Southampton

Gazzaniga, Clyne, Fonte, Hooiveld, Shaw, Stephens, Wanyama, Schneiderlin, Davis, Ward-Prowse, Isgrove and Rodriguez have the honour of being "on the pitch when Guly scored". -
PRE-SEASON: Palamós CF vs Southampton

Good opening post again, but I'd question this... As tiers 3 and 4 in Spain are regionalised and have numerous leagues in each tier they would be below League Two. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_football_league_system They play in a Catalonia league, with 6 leagues above them, and 17 leagues equal to the league they are in. -
If you want to see some players close up yes, but for an overall view of what is going on in the game row A is terrible.

That is good to hear, I think the summer of 2014 will be the time to judge him.

For those that want Ramirez to be sold... if he did go to Inter Milan, does that not suggest to you that he is actually a very good player that is worth keeping? He can be frustrating at times, but he has also shown glimpses of real class. He is still young, had a serious injury & family bereavement which broke up the flow to his season and it was his first season in England. Next summer is the time to really judge him.
-
Why don't you apply the same logic to Ramirez? Someone who is 6 years younger, foreign, had a family bereavement, serious injury and hadn't played in the Premier League before.
-
What are you describing as the "committee"? In 2009 it would have been Cortese, Pardew and the head scout discussing if they should or shouldn't sign a player, is that not a "committee"? Or is something only a committee if Les Reed is present? Strange how people don't give Les Reed credit for the good signings and only criticise him for the bad ones... why is that?
-
Of those you listed as "bad transfers" I'd agree with... Tadanari Lee Vegard Forren Take these signings in context... Jonathan Forte - his goals vs MK Dons were very important, obviously surplus in the Premier League Dany N'Guessan - a short term loan that served a purpose to cover injuries and helped gain promotion from League One in the few games he had Steve de Ridder - played a role in gaining promotion from the Championship. This one I really don't understand why you have labelled it as a "bad transfer"... Danny Fox - Yes, he isn't great in the Premier League, but look at the signing in context. He was signed when Saints were in the the Championship and played a key role in promotion. And now for... Emmanuel Mayuka - he is only 22 and although he has had only a small amount of game-time I think he looks promising. Far too early to be writing him off. Paulo Gazzaniga - Again, very young for a keeper and it is far too early to be writing him off because of a couple of errors in the 1st team Gastón Ramírez - An extremely good player, young and yes he can being frustrating but I think he will come good. Last season he had no pre-season with Saints, a bad injury, a family bereavement and had to adapt to a new country. Lets not write him off just yet. This season will give us a better idea.
-
So "a few" actually refers to about 35? As I said - cherry picking. You can't pass judgement without looking at them all in context and give consideration as to where the club was in the summer of 2009 to where it is a mere 4 years later.
