Saints were the only team to bid for Ramirez and his wage at Bologna wasn't that great, simply no need for them to go so high above every other Saints player. Neymar's sponsorship deals are separate from his wages so not really relevant as the club isn't paying him for that, his sponsors are.

So a player that is a regular (and seemingly key player) for the European Champions and cost them £32 million, is on similar wages to a Southampton player that cost £12m? That is one example in the whole of world football then (I won't count Neymar as Santos won't be paying him anywhere near £90k p/w).

I think that is extremely unlikely. Very few 21 year olds (if any) in world football would be on £90k p/w. We simply had no need to offer him that much, he wasn't on a big wage at Bologna and we were the only team that bid for him, so no wage race started. £35k p/w before tax would be my guess.

This is all harping back to stadium expansions, a stadium expansion of non corporate seats doesn't require the current corporate seats to sell out. In any case a better performing/higher profile Saints team will see more corporate interest in the future to possibly warrant corporate area development. Cortese isn't aiming for us to remain as newly promoted relegation favourites year after year, a better team = rise in fanbase, crowds and corporate interest.

As I said, we sold more home tickets vs the least attractive opposition in the league than we did in a sold out game vs the most attractive team in the league. If Wigan had sold a full away allocation (like most Premier League teams will) then some of those Saints fans that went to the Wigan game wouldn't have been able to get tickets.

Oh, by the way with only 710 Wigan fans, we actually had more Saints fans vs Wigan than we did at the sold out a week before kickoff Man Utd game.
