  1. Give us the position he plays in primarily. You said you didn't want to name him, but stating his position surely doesn't matter, especially if their are other clubs already "sniffing around". I'm sure you could even give his name now as you have just disclosed other clubs are aware, plus I'm sure his agent would be hawking him about. You talked yourself into that!
  2. The Scottish aren't a race. Technically nor are Indians or Blacks as there is genetically no such thing as "race".
  3. Chamberlain was number 26 in 2010/11 But The9 is correct, Chamberlain was number 11 in 2011/12 before he left.
  4. If Saints end up losing out on promotion because Adkins took that risk in one game and dropped 2 or 3 points because he put Jack Cork in goal for example, would you want to be the manager at the centre of it? The fanbase wouldn't be happy in the summer... imagine what Alpine or Dalek2003 would say?! I'm normally optimistic, Dalek2003 would self destruct!
  5. Was hard for Sutton to prove he was "better than everyone" in England when playing against SPL sides in front of 5,000 - 10,000 people. I doubt Sven considered scoring against such sides as a good marker for Sutton's talents. Same applies to Gary Hooper if he has England hopes in the future.
  6. Falque had already been mentioned, the story was in the Daily Mail over a week ago so doesn't meet MLT's description of a player not mentioned on here.
  7. I would think so, Adkins after the Forest game talked of Tadanari Lee and one other signing before the Leicester game. He also mentioned he wanted another striker in addition to Lee and it seems that is/was Gary Hooper.
  8. It was a joke, a mild (probably unfunny) one at that. In any case, the Scots aren't a "race" and they have the same nationality as I do on their passports.
  9. That is completely irrelevant as Gary Hooper will never play for a Celtic side in domestic competition year after year against Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal etc nor even against Leeds, West Ham, Leicester, Nottingham Forest etc. If he moved to Southampton he would be able to do so, whilst remaining in Scotland he pits his wits against St Johnstone, St Mirren. Inverness etc in front of 5,000 people and have no chance of an England call up.
  10. As for the Celtic in Europe point... Middlesbrough (2006) and Fulham (2010) both equalled Celtic (2003) in getting to a European final. Neither Fulham or Middlesbrough are bigger than Saints. No reason Saints couldn't match that achievement at some point in the future.

  12. Scottish Premier League vs English Championship Average attendances 2011/12 Celtic 50k Rangers 45k West Ham 29k Southampton 26k Derby 25k Leeds 23k Leicester 23k Cardiff 22k Nottingham Forest 22k Hull 18k Brighton 18k Reading 18k Birmingham 18k Ipswich 18k Middlesbrough 18k Crystal Palace 15k Coventry 14k Portsmouth 14k Burnley 14k Bristol City 13k Hearts 13k Watford 12k Blackpool 12k Millwall 11k Barnsley 10k Doncaster 9k Peterborough 9k Hibs 9k Aberdeen 9k Dundee United 7k Motherwell 5k Kilmarnock 5k Dunfermline 5k St Mirren 4k Inverness 4k St. Johnstone 3k I could take it further and look lower down the English Football League... - There are 5 clubs in League One and 1 club in League Two with higher attendances than the 4th biggest Scottish club Hibs. - There are 4 clubs in League One with higher attendances than the 3rd biggest Scottish club Hearts. Should Southampton return to the top flight it will see a return to the 30,000+ averages in a 32,000 stadium they had in all four Premier League seasons at St Mary's. The chairman also wants to increase the stadium to 45k+. Taking it close to Celtic's average. Not so "small little English team Southampton" as Celtic fans like to make out!

  14. The standard of English lessons at Scottish schools is shocking. No wonder you want independence, so you can make the "language" up as you go along. Why would Saints overachieve? The are one of the best supported clubs in the UK in terms of average crowds. Averaging 26,097 whilst in the 2nd tier of English football. The 3rd biggest Scottish team - Hearts averages 13,000 in the 1st tier.
  15. That is taking a huge risk! Yes it is unlikely a sub keeper will be needed, but with 20 games left, playing an outfield player in goal if Davis gets injured/sent off could be the difference between promotion and another year in this league. Having one more outfield player on the bench won't make that much difference, having no sub keeper in a game where you need one could make a huge difference to the outcome of an entire campaign with the league so tight.
  16. Falque has more pedigree than Forte, Holmes or N'Guessan. He has come through Real Madrid and Barcelona's academy systems, is a Spanish under 21 international, signed by Juventus and yesterday was signed by Tottenham in a multi million pound deal. (Villarreal aren't in Serie B btw, they are Spanish )
  17. That twists it somewhat, his loan finished and he returned to his parent club.
  18. I think we'll see a lot of him. Pointless Spurs letting Saints have him otherwise, or they'd loan him to someone that would give him lots of gametime.
  19. It isn't SI's fault it doesn't have the licenses for certain leagues. EA paid big money for them on long term deals. It really isn't difficult to add graphics, the game has been designed so it is easily changeable in appearance and there are step by step guides how to add graphics on the SI forums and lots of user created content to download.
  20. No, not yet. This thread will keep you up to date with things... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?34823-Updated-Tadanari-Lee-Set-to-Sign
  21. Based on what? Certainly goes against what Adkins has said.
  22. I agree with Mr Nursey, Adkins having been Hooper's boss for two years must have a good idea that Hooper would be interested if a price between clubs could be agreed or he wouldn't waste his time. Yes "tapping up" isn't allowed, but it is impossible to police especially if those involved already know each other well. If a club forces a player to give an interview to the OS when no bid has been accepted, then the statement Hooper made is exactly what you would expect. They aren't going to release a statement saying he wants to talk to Saints before any fee has been agreed. That would weaken their negotiation position. That will no doubt irk some Celtic fans that are reading this forum! But do they honestly think a manger that already knows a player very well wouldn't find out directly/indirectly through 3rd parties if that player was interested before spending time and effort pursuing him?
  23. For paying players via a third party Luton Town had 10 points deducted by the Football League... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/luton_town/7500435.stm -30 points in total for all their offences.
  24. He'll be one of our best players if the Spurs/Juventus/Barcelona researchers ratings are anything to go by.
  25. As Spurs bought him today that was always going to be unlikely!
