  1. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/arsenal-face-a-battle-for-saints-4m-teen-6287747.html "Shaw is understood to have agreed a professional deal with Southampton to begin when he turns 17 in July" The article isn't well researched, there is no doubt about his contract status as the Independent implies. Why have they put an element of doubt when a simple look on the Southampton OS would show this... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2228492,00.html
  2. Sorry for trying to help... ffs Were you not trying to also "help" by asking you "man on the inside at Spuds"? How would you like to be mocked for that?
  3. That is how I would see it.
  4. I beat you to it.
  5. Not that I like defending the Daily Mail, but there do seem to be precedents for these kinds of loan deals.
  6. The Daily Mail article does make it clear that he is on loan to Spurs and also states they would need Juventus' permission to do this. A similar thing happened with Dani Pacheco. Athletico Madrid agreed to sign him on loan from Liverpool with a view to buy him at the end of the season and then Madrid loaned him out to Rayo. Seems very strange but there are precedents for this in European football.
  7. Are Celtic preparing for Hooper's departure...? http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/spl/2012/01/10/celtic-target-hamdi-salihi-keen-on-move-to-parkhead-as-striker-gets-set-for-rapid-exit-86908-23692920/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2084470/Celtic-want-Hamdi-Salihi-Jordan-Rhodes.html They may not want to sell Hooper without having a replacement lined up first.
  8. @MatthewLeGod For Football Manager and Saints news, with occasionally some itk info...
  9. QPR http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/QPR-want-Celtic-striker-Gary-Hooper-plan-7million-January-swoop-article811621.html Sunderland and QPR http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/886076-gary-hooper-set-to-reject-qpr-and-sunderland-to-stay-at-celtic Aston Villa and Sunderland http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/sport/9460853.Villa_and_Sunderland_to_bid_for_Hooper/ Newcastle http://www.thesun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3869436/Newcastle-line-up-5m-Gary-bid.html Loads of others as well. Rangers' Nikica Jelavic and Celtic's Gary Hooper are the two best strikers in Scottish football, if a team outside the top six in the English Premier League signed Hooper it would be a coup. If Saints in the Championship were to sign Celtic's top scorer (and possibly their best player) it would make headlines and be a real sign of intent. The fact Saints have even made an enquiry for him shows the level of player they want and is a very positive sign. Of course they need to wrap up some deals in order to stop the pessimists moaning, but one thing at a time...
  10. How do you know they haven't?
  11. I think you should seek medical help before your liver explodes.
  12. I have absolutely no idea what this is about! Is the opening post in English?
  13. If you have a Saints Player account, use your login to view. http://www.ccfc.co.uk/articles/20120108/ext-highlights-coventry-city-1-soton-2_2264353_2570332/0,,10269~2570332~1,00.html Enjoy... EDIT: It is actually 9 minutes of extended highlights. The video is 41 minutes long and has 30 minutes of a black screen for some reason. Can a mod change the title please?
  14. Why do you think they are mutually exclusive?
  15. People call it "boring" but it is an excellent chance to get to the 5th round. Cardiff and Millwall have in recent years made the final as Championship clubs. Saints could do the same perhaps and we'd all be going to Wembley twice. Is that boring?
  16. Their accountant and bank manager... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14467953.stm http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/feb/18/celtic-neil-lennon-spl-title
  17. People post rumours/start threads for rumours that come from sources with at least some credibility. You have posted a rumour from a source which could have been written by anyone in the world and has no credibility. Plus as Steve Grant says, Kenwyne Jones went on strike to force a move away from Saints, would he really be welcomed back?
  18. Then what did you mean by this? In order to "go for him" as you say, Saints would have to match the transfer fee and match or beat what Leicester are offering in terms of wages. Which is reported to be close to £30k p/w plus bonuses.
  19. It does if Leicester are willing to offer Sharp more on wages than Saints are willing to spend on a player of his quality, especially if they can get what they see as better value for money elsewhere on another player. You have to draw a line somewhere in regards to wages and not get into a bidding war that lumbers you with a huge 3 year contract on a player you don't deem worth that much of your money even if you can afford it.
  20. There is a significant difference between being able to afford something and considering something good value for money. Saints could well be able to "afford" to give Sharp £30k, £40k, £50k per week. That doesn't mean they should though does it?
  21. 55 posts in 90 minutes of football all with largely negative connotations I think would be considered "relentless" by most people. Especially considering it was a game Saints won! So those posts were largely in the 60 minutes Saints were losing. "Relentless" at nearly a post per minute?
  22. - You made 55 posts in the Coventry match thread. - By far the most posts in the thread out of any Saints fan. - Nearly 10% of the total posts in the thread. - Read them back and the vast majority are with negative connotations. I'd say that is both "relentless" and "negative". You may say "emotional", but the emotion seems to be a negative one all the time and in volume in terms of posts as the above shows from today's match thread.
  23. Not too early to say at all. My point was only Saints can say their summer spending got them to top spot for when the January window opened and teams are allowed to spend and improve the squad again. All other 23 Championship teams failed to beat Saints to do this. In any case... - Jos Hooiveld on a permanent deal (his loan would have finished and he would have gone back in early Janaury) - Tadanari Lee deal complete bar work permit ...is a lot more than a large number of Championship sides have done in January so far.
  24. We have also now reached the transfer window in 1st place and the club is actively looking to improve the squad in order to maintain its league position. None of the other 23 clubs can say the same about what their summer spending has achieved for them.
  25. For some issues you post on (but not all) I think it is perfectly valid to consider the amount of games you have seen in person.
