  1. How big will it be Mike?
  2. What dimensions have you gone for?
  3. I think the fact Saints are newly promoted is irrelevant to any transfer activity this summer. Players will look at the wages offered and ambition of the club, rather than where Saints were last season.
  4. Why? They have no pressing need to sell him, so they can dictate the price or he stays.
  5. So because we don't know, Saints should automatically sell him at a price that suggests he won't? No, that isn't how it works, especially if the seller is in a secure financial position.
  6. - Chamberlain has possibly 10 years more playing time left than Van Der Vaart. - Van der Vaart was surplus to requirements at Real Madrid and expendable, Chamberlain is a key player for Saints. Both these and a number of other factors influence the values of the two players.
  7. Why is it ridiculous money? There is a very good chance he will be worth a lot more than that if he has a good season in the Championship, plus he still has 15 years left at least of his career and the club is in good health and doesn't need the money. If he went for £12m it would be a bargain, hence why I doubt Cortese will sell him for that (or indeed at all anytime soon).
  8. On the departures front. BBC sport reporter David Ornstein on Twitter 30 minutes ago... "Oxlade-Chamberlain update - I'm realiably informed Southampton have received no bids or even inquiries for the player" http://twitter.com/#!/bbcsport_david

  10. Sky also had a Friday night game last year for the first game of the Championship season.
  11. Nope, I'll give you permission to moan about lack of signings in mid July. July 15th to be exact. Until then, we should just wait and see what happens...
  12. Why not? What is that view based on? My point was that it matters not if you buy a player on the 4th June or 25th of June. You gain no benefit as none of the players you sign will train together until July. It is the 17th June today, still two weeks left to sign players so that they all have a full pre-season.
  13. Because they don't report back for training until early July, it matters not if new players were signed two weeks ago, or in the next two weeks. Either way they aren't going to start training until July. Also you don't know that Saints haven't already signed players that will be announced in July when their contracts run out.
  14. Spot the conflicting statements.
  15. It isn't random at all. A huge number of factors are taken into consideration and consultation with the clubs, as explained in this article... http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/FLExplainedDetail/0,,10794~1356571,00.html
  16. What on earth are you talking about?
  17. In any case, the tickets are likely to be very cheap for this game, it may even be the first home game of the season which will boost the attendance. Nearly 11,000 for the Carling Cup 1st round tie against League Two opposition Northampton in 2009/10. Which is a huge figure for that stage of the competition against a lower league club. 17,000 against Bournemouth a year later in the 1st round, of course boosted because of a "derby" and large numbers of travelling fans. The Torquay game may well see figures similar to the Northampton game in 2009. 10k or 11k in the League Cup first round against a League Two team is huge.
  18. It would when they have to agree the price with Torquay United. Why would Torquay accept Saints season ticket holders getting in for free and them missing out on a cash boost? Also, why is it "boring"? I like to watch Saints win, they have a good chance to win this tie and progress to the 2nd round.
  19. Can anyone think of any examples of teams wearing kits in pre-season that they then don't use during the forthcoming season? I can't. Will Saints be wearing the 2010/11 kit in the games before the 23rd July?
  20. That would make more sense. The article, like many from the club atm is a little vague.
  21. Glenn Murray turns 28 years old in September 2011. Can he really be described as a "young talent"?
  22. Pre-order is from Thursday 30th June, not the 20th. The article also states the kit will be launched on 20th July and will go on sale a day later on 21st July. Strangely that means you can pre-order it, three weeks before you know what it looks like.
  23. How do you know that?
  24. Football contracts in England end on 30th June each year. Norris is still an Ipswich player and will be paid by them up until that date, when he will then sign for Pompey.
  25. Planning permission was granted in February 2011 for the temporary training buildings Saints will use during the construction phase. http://web3.newforest.gov.uk/images/planningimages/169247_1.pdf On the 5th May 2011 you can see that the temporary buildings are now in place... You would think they would be doing this because building work was taking place as soon as the Walsall game was over.
