  1. 30 second clip of the interview... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/9268990.stm
  2. Saw this on a Newcastle forum. Mike Ashley's interview notes...
  3. I think this may have been triggered by Pardew's imminent appoint at Newcastle and Cortese may want to set things straight (as far as he can) before Pardew's unveiling at any press conference. Also the Sun's rumour would have played a part.
  4. Wear a rose.
  5. "Safe standing" areas has never been in Britain so how is it bringing "it" back? This works very well in Germany and is completely different to traditional terracing. In any case terracing still exists all over Britain in lower league grounds.
  6. The tickets are on sale now. There is a month until the game. If you want your season ticket seat or one close, it would be very easy to get if you book soon. I doubt there will be a massive rush for this game.
  7. Tribunals are for players under 24 that are out of contract (like Ryan Dickson for example) or players yet to sign a professional contract. Chamberlain has signed a 3 year professional contract at Saints, so if Arsenal want him they will have to pay big money for him.
  8. ??? Buying a season ticket... - guarantees you that seat at every league game - gives you priority for away games - gives you priority for big cup games - gives you priority for Wembley finals - allows you to take advantage of the season ticket holder can buy another ticket for £7.50 deal Saints had for 3 league games - most importantly adult season ticket holders pay £396 for Kingsland central seats, meaning each game costs £17 rather than £25/£27. Saving potentially £230 compared with turning up on the day each game.
  9. Because, as the club have stated in the past. They won't respond to every rumour about the club just because it appears in the press. It is a three sentence, unsubstantiated rumour hidden away in a tabloid. Some journalists when they make up bull**** aren't worth even responding to and is a waste of the clubs time and effort to do so.
  10. There have been lots of investigation in the national print media into the Glazer situation and TV doccumentaries. Their US businesses are failing and they are lacking in cash. To believe they are suddenly going to give Fergie £100m plucked from nowhere seems extremely unlikely. This is the same paper that has people worried about the Liebherr's pulling out.
  11. The paper today also contained a story saying the debt ridden Glazers are giving Fergie £100m to spend. This is one of the best supported clubs in the world and the Sun's readership would be interested in the story. Yet it sounds extremely unlikely to be true. Why would they make that up? ANSWER Because Fleet Street is full of crap journalists and the British public keep buying the rags and believing the crap they make up even though most of it is rubbish.
  12. So why 4 days ago did they submit plans for a multi-million training ground development? AND Why over the past few weeks has Adkins been hinting heavily they are spending in January? AND Why did Cortese tell those in the Itchen concourse after a game they will be spending in January?
  13. Hold a press conference and put an article on the OS rather than a three sentence story tucked away (almost hidden) in one papers Monday football pullout?
  14. Well I trust that article and Cortese more than a three line unsubstantiated rumour in The Sun. The same paper contains a story today that the Glazers are giving Fergie £100m to spend. Reliable?
  15. It wasn't just a spokesman, it was Nicola Cortese himself after talking to the family... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2128238,00.html
  16. Not even the club releasing plans for a multi million training ground development 4 days ago? The same architect firm did Stoke City's training ground in the last 12 months, which is smaller than Saints' planned development in floor plan and it cost Stoke £5m.
  17. Not even when the club released a statement soon after his passing, saying the family remains onside and the plans remain unchanged?
  18. If that is a hint to Hoddle, I think you are stretching it to say he was successful as an international manager.
  19. He played over 300 games for Pompey.
  20. No-one picked up on the last part of the first article...
  21. I get the impression Cortese wouldn't be on speaking terms with anyone from the failed Pinnacle bid as it delayed Liebherr's takeover.
  22. If it is "the estate of Markus Liebherr", then do his family actually have any say? It may just follow his wishes and they may not have the power of veto.
  23. Look at the author of the report...
  24. They already had the initial plans approved in February 2010. Most of the groundwork has been done and dusted successfully already. Look on the New Forest council website and you will see all the surveys etc that have been done for both the successful Nov 2009 application and the extended Dec 2010 application.
