  1. Not a bad race. Won't post the result yet in case anyone is waiting for the replay. Quite enjoyed the "Petrov's of Hazzard" (© Sniff Petrol) moment though!
  2. Morning race fans. Not a bad race so far. If you can, have a look at the Sniff Petrol twitter feed while the race is going on. Quite entertaining.
  3. I seem to recall being told that the anti-nuc brigade managed to get in between the 2 fences at Faslane. The base security in one of their more amusing moments released the attack/guard dogs at one end of the gap between the 2 fences and then sat back and watched the ensuing fun and games as the protesters set about shifting at speed away from the dogs. Don't know if there is any truth in this or not though!

  5. Best possible result there!!! Well done lads!!! Surely. SURELY we are going up! We have to!
  6. Would Astute have only had an armed sentry as she was in a non naval port or do they always have the armed sentry in addition to normal base security? Whilst alongside would a MOD Plad boat be continuously sat off her seaward side or was that only when the incident took place? As she was on a commercial berth, would she have more security in place than normal? I think there were 2 P&O ships (Azura and Ventura) in yesterday, with Ventura on Ocean Terminal - both would pass close to Astute as they approached dockhead. I know when I have passed a sub on 38/39 berth they have occaisonally had a larger complement on the open deck to "wave" at the cruise ships as they go pass and let the passengers take pictures of them.
  7. Jst been speaking to an ex-submariner who has been informed that the upper deck officer shot the weapons officer and the marine officer. TDD can you explain the job titles? Think thats the sentry, the weapons engineer officer and the Chief Engineer? N
  8. Jst flicked on the BBC News channel They are saying that the shots took place on the vessel. 2 injured, 1 man arrested.
  9. Hopefully we'll see an eventful race. Teams saying they expect the tires to wear a lot more than in Melbourne. Some pundits predicting a 4 stop race. Vettel apparently holding back in practice. Not sure if the Red Bulls have got KERS fitted. Would have thought it to be sensible that they do!
  10. From the BBC News website - Now saying near the sub. Shooting' near submarine HMS Astute in Southampton Two people have been hurt in a shooting at Southampton docks near to where the nuclear submarine HMS Astute is currently berthed, the BBC understands. The nuclear-powered submarine has been docked in Southampton since Wednesday as part of a five-day visit. The area around the docks have been sealed off by officers from Hampshire Police. The Royal Navy or police are yet to officially comment on the incident. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-13014640
  11. Breaking news on BBC1 news. Looks like she's tied up alongside the QE2 berth (think that tends to be where they go) Not saying if the shooting is on or near. Helicopter landed near VTS
  12. And it can even get porn stars!
  13. Niccccce. Team P GD PTS 1 Brighton 39 42 84 2 Huddersfield 40 24 73 3 Southampton 38 37 71 4 Peterborough 40 26 70 5 MK Dons 40 6 65 6 Bournemouth 40 20 63 7 Rochdale 39 10 61 Bompey slipping up tonight. And us reeling in the Udds. If we do I think I might enjoy seeing the mrs' family next time!
  14. One of my Janner mates seems to think we have picked up quite a decent player in the form of Stephens. Hope he's right.
  15. Personally I've never really seen the benefits of zonal marking. Whenever I have managed teams I have always used man marking. But then the team I have managed used to turn up half cut so it probably wouldn't have mattered which system we used.
  16. My Company used to use the Jury's a lot but are going for the Holiday Inn by dock gate 8 now. Never had a problem with the Jury's when I stayed there. The ETAP is bloody awful and I would only stay there again if all the other hotel rooms in and around Southampton were full! Premier Inn is ok as is the Southampton Park Hotel but you have to pay for parking in the multi next door.
  17. Glad Carlisle won it. Their fans seemed like a pretty decent bunch last year. Remember travelling up to Wembley on the Northern and Jubilee lines from south west London with some Carlsile fans I bumped into at the ticket barriers. Had some quite good banter with them on the way there. Great day out. Was looking at my pictures from it the other day. Seeing the Saints crest on Wembley as we walked down Wembley way was great. In fact it was a fantastic day out! Was also great to see Markus (RIP) there taking his own pictures.

  19. Looks like a budget "Tui" or Thompson Holidays logo. Don't think anyone guessed them on the big sponsor thread!
  20. One quick google later http://www.aap3.com/SitePages/index.aspx Based in Southampton
  21. Something like this? But in "our" red
  22. Have to agree with TDD re: The Barbican. Though if you do go, try not to be the one muppet who jumps in the water while his mates cheer him on who then have to quickly change their cheers to shouts as a fishing boat is rapidly approaching him. Anyway. I'm annoyed as I was planning on going and now I'll be back at sea. Bugger.
  23. Stayed in the Copthorne Hotel, Plymouth when we played Argyle on New Years day. Saw the squad in a closed area having dinner. When I was leaving my room with my then Mrs I spotted a lad in a Saints tracksuit coming out of a room a few doors down. He attempted to hide his room key behind a light fitting in the alleyway and wandered off. I shouted after him when it fell down and handed it to him. Turns out if you want to break into Ostlund's hotel room have a look behind light fittings in the alleyway. (Note: I didn't break into his room, nor am I suggesting anyone does)
  24. Carnival UK own P&O Cruises (along with Cunard, Seabourne, P&O Australia) however as they are owned by Carnival PLC which is based in Miami I'd have thought it unlikely. Micky Arrison (Carnival CEO) is owner of Miami Heat and I'd have thought more interested in them (Unless Cortese has got him lined up as Liebher replacement money). In recent years there has been an increase in Royal Carribbean International and Celebrity Cruise ships in Southampton. They are Carnival's rival and so it could be seen as a large "2 fingers" gesture to Carnival if RCI were to sponsor the shirts of Carnival UK's home port's football team. Associated British Ports are a big operation which has a prescene in the area. They use a lot of Liebher equipment (cranes etc) in their ports so there is a tenuous link.
  25. Does anyone have any suggestions on training and fitness. I'm only in my first season (first couple of months actually) and the players seem permenantly knackered. Is this just new to the game as in the last few versions the fitness and recovery levels of the players seem to have been better, or is simply that I need to adjust the training? Cheers OOO
