  1. Anyone watch?? How did Rowthorn get on? First start in a while...
  2. Have they got a Harry Kane-Peters we can take instead?
  3. I was at a work conference at the casino in the Ricoh Arena. The only Saints fan there but a few Liverpool fans. I remember going absolutely mental when Long scored then putting £20 on 7 on the Roulette in his honour (high roller, I know!) but the little bugger came in, making it an even better night. I don't remember much else after that...
  4. Your wardrobe would probably come and claim a cross in to the 6 yard box every once in a while too...
  5. David Blunkett could have told you that in fairness...
  6. Any news on the lineup?
  7. Anyone who thinks he wouldn't be a good signing needs their heads examining. He is one of those players who will flourish at a club like Southampton. As long as he produced the goods he will be indulged and adored by the fans. A loose canon perhaps but he might just be what the squad needs to bring them together. He reminds me a bit of Paolo Di Canio. An absolute nutter but he's got talent coming out of his ears and is able to create something from nothing. Exactly what we need. I would be massively in favour of this.
  8. I've never been one to advocate the premature sacking of a manager. For nearly every manager we have ever sacked I have always seen the argument for sticking by them, even if at times I didn't necessarily agree. On this occasion, there has been absolutely no redeeming features of his tenure with us. No evident game plan or style of football that will "come good" once the players adapt to the system. No flashes of tactical brilliance that have won us unexpected points (the draw with Man Utd was more through luck than judgement. They missed a hatful of clear cut chances). No improvements in any player performances at all. In fact, quite the opposite - players have regressed under his leadership. The players appear unmotivated. Sacking the manager would of course be a gamble and there is no guarantee it would produce an improvement in results but there is absolutely no evidence that keeping him is going to produce an upturn in fortunes all of a sudden either.
  9. The Tyro write-ups used to be put up on the board by the boys changing rooms when I was at Thornden School. No better feeling than getting a mention in the write ups and having it up for everyone to read for a whole week!
  10. As long as isn't to Liverpool and the bulk of the money is re-invested in the team I wouldn't object. Luckily the length of his contract still left to run should dictate we still get £50+ for him.
  11. We could do with a few in the general direction of the oppositions goal...
  12. Out. His tenure has had absolutely ZERO redeeming features. We have regressed in every possible way. Something I thought was impossible after last season.
  13. Not usually one for calling for a manager's head, particularly so early in to a reign but absolutely no progress has or is being made. In my eyes he has to go. If anything we are more boring, predictable and formulaic that ever. Clearly the players aren't motivated by him and would surely respond to a manager who shows more confidence in our attacking capabilities rather than this turgid, safety-first horse$hit we are currently being subjected to.
  14. I've heard a plausible story that when Everton came knocking we didn't put up a huge fight to keep him. Part of the reason was that up until Christmas in his final season with us he was very close to getting the sack. Obviously results picked up towards the end of the season but that was more accredited to Mane's form than any managerial brilliance from Koeman. We've struggled since selling him (our last "x-factor" player) and now Everton have sold theirs (Lukaku) they are also struggling. Some awful, awful business done in the summer too didn't help.
  15. He'all have the starting spot within the month from what I've heard....
  16. How's Ben (number 4) getting on?
  17. Still likely to be going ahead I reckon. Great signing from what I've seen and heard. Especially if we can forc VVD in to staying and playing alongside him. VVD is going to have to knuckle down and accept his situation if we do stay strong and refuse to sell him. It's a World Cup year and their participation is by no means a done deal so he'll be required to stay match sharp to take part in their qualifiers and then put in some strong performances at the World Cup and win himself a move to a proper big club next season.
  18. Looks incredible. Visited South Africa and Mozambique on my honeymoon last year. If you get the chance to visit the Timbavati region, do so. Go and see Stoffel the escaping honey badger! Most of all... enjoy. What an amazing country that is.
  19. Good point in fairness. If Liverpool signed him I doubt they'd give him 6 weeks to get match sharp. He'd be expected to be match fit and start playing almost straight away. Maybe not start him this Saturday but he should be ready in the next week or two.
  20. He's as mad as a box of frogs apparently....
  21. Ooops....!! That'll teach me for stopping watching then!!
  22. Just started watching. Rowthorn got on yet?
  23. Voted for Tiss but Yeboah's strike was better for n my opinion.
  24. Joey Pigford looks promising. Will be competing for national belts soon.
  25. Ben Rowthorn. He's my nephew.
