oh the irony..... -
I like this. It's got all the ingredients of a good football chant. Three of the four lines are the same, so it should be easy for everyone to remember. The other line is the lad's name, so we should get that right It's a familiar tune It's got a level of wit and tongue-in-cheekness that all good football songs should have. Marvellous effort, pat yourself heartily on the back

‘Expensive success’ or ‘affordable pastime’?
ooh it's a corner replied to Joensuu's topic in The Saints
For me it's not about success - how can it be, I only started going in 1980 and the only thing we have won since then is the JPT final. As for my match day experience today, it is made all the more enjoyable by the pre-match beers with friends and family. Without the social element of football, I'm not sure I would go. The product is very hit or miss from an entertainment perspective and going on your own to football is a fairly lonely experience. I think it is much more fun starting a season as favourites and winning more games than you lose, so right now I would take this 3rd tier offering, with its 3rd tier pricing, over the PL. However, if we were challenging for honours and playing in Europe every other week, I would sooner see that. I can remember going to see Saints vs Chelsea as an opening day fixture, just as the money had started to roll in and Chelsea had Gianluca Vialli playing for them, and I can remember thinking how great it was to be going to see one of Europe's top footballers play. Naturally that experience soon faded, but I would sooner be watching Lionel Messi play against Southampton this afternoon than some plonker from Bmth. So, if it's choices, my heart says expensive success, but my head would say affordable pastime. -

Anyone know where he was today? Was he in Swindon, or was he watching S****horpe? We'd all appreciate a new manager, Adkins or whoever, just interested to know if we're any closer.

Thanks Marcus. I will always smile at the fact that my JPT cup pictures include you taking photos like the rest of us. I'm sure you had as much fun as we did. I hope all the messages of goodwill on here help to ease the pain felt by your loved ones... God bless big fella -
Extra time and pens tonight

I'll sell you a twirl for £300,000. You may think that's a bit rich, but this is no ordinary twirl, it's made of mouth melting, luxury chocolate, this is an M&S twirl... PM if you want, but the £300k is non negotiable

Pointless. Your thread + 1 (or three if you include my dad and my daughters tickets) How many are we up to?

Cant think of any saints players with a diary theme, but one of our league one rivals has a whole team full.... yep, you guessed it, it's Sheffield Wensleydale. -
I've heard that HMRC has told AA they will not accept the CVA, in advance of Thursday's meeting, so that he can put forward a different proposal. Anyone else heard this?

I think it starts with..... Twas on the very first of May, to Wembley I did roam, I did not have a ticket so I watched the match at home, I loaded up with tv snacks and several crates of beer, I slung a toilet roll at next door's cat for atmosphere... nnnnaahhhhh silly sod

I struggle to understand how they justify the 25% increase in my ticket price. Lord knows what will happen if they ever get promoted.....

Another article, heaping nothing but contempt at their situation....and the administrator http://www.twohundredpercent.net/?p=5252 The world has run out of patience with them all..... bless.

I disagree. He was aware the ball was going over his head, he was aware Lambert was behind him, he was aware that he was 8 yards out from goal. He took the gamble that it was odds on Lambert would score with a free header from 8 yards, so better to concede a penalty and have the chance of a miss/save. It was an aboslute "professional" foul, which DID prevent an obvious goal scoring opportunity (let's face it, if Rickie Lambert had been standing on the edge of the box, with no chance to get the ball, the defender would not have raised his arm). I don't think the ref would have been slated for sending him off. Equally, the ref hasnt been slated for the yellow card, but in part that is because we won comfortably. Had the same player scored the winning goal in the last minute, we would all be focused on that "bad" decision. The rule is the denial of the "opportunity to score". A deliberate handball on the line, is stopping a certain goal and merits a red card. Deliberately stopping an opponent, with foul play, from having the "opportunity" to score, is a red card. Rickie Lambert was clearly denied an opportunity to score. Personally, I would have sent him off. but then I'm biased :-)

what's going to be more fun then? Pompey finishing bottom, regardless of the minus nine points, or Pompey finishing in the bottom three ONLY because of the minus nine points?

we're ugly?

actually if he sets himself up correctly, he will not pay much NI and tax will be avoided by the payment of dividend over income tax. but what do I know about IR 35 avoidance :-)

Saints 5-0 Huddersfield - Post Match Reaction
ooh it's a corner replied to Ponty's topic in The Saints
that was better than saturday. Huddersfield were big ugly and physical, but enough of their women folk.... bizarrely for a team that just got thumped 5-0, I thought they looked a reasonable side, it's just that we were outstanding. It's lovely to walk home in the cold, feeling really, really smug... -
as the end appears to draw closer, I was wondering if we should have a collective effort at getting Peter Storrie a Queen's honour. Along the lines of services to the local community (ours as opposed to theirs, but who cares?) Peter Storrie, OBE, services to (one team in) Hampshire football? Afterall, our blue friends gave the freedom of Portsmouth to Mr Redknapp, it would only seem fitting to me. Apparently all you have to do is fill in the forms online. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/UKgovernment/Honoursawardsandmedals/DG_067917
