It has to be Tadic by a country mile, two excellent open play goals that most would bottle. Lemina is gradually getting match fit as he gets over his long injury problems. Too many idiots on here have been on his back quite undeservedly but it was always evident that the player has real class. When he ran to the coaches after his first goal assist you can see immediately who has helped him get back in the team and find his feet. We must pray that he is still here for our battle for promotion next season. He Romeu and Hojberg will be by far the best midfield in that league and with Bednarek and Hoedt improving by the game and remember they are still young kids, the future is beginning to look very bright. I sense most of the players will give it a year before moving away and then only if we don't get promoted.

Tadic, Tadic, nothing else to add.

I'm sure he'd be happy to take your advice since you understand the game so well.

The Premier League teams’ ineptitude index 2017-18
Charlie Wayman replied to Plumstead_Saint's topic in The Saints
Interesting but very subjective and tongue in cheek. No reason to highlight Saints or WBA's failings either as they are far from being the worst at anything. The whole thing is evidently rubbish as it has no correlation with how teams will end up in the league. -
Agree with what you say. Even 'though I watch matches intently during play it is quite easy to miss things happening on the ball let alone all the many off ball incidents as play moves on. Of course it's the ref's job and he's a professional - 'though they don't get paid a lot - and is so much closer to the action so should miss less things than casual observers like fans but some fouls are virtually impossible to see in real time. If a ref isn't certain then he can't give anything, he's not there to guess. Nor can he carry a rule book around in his head. On the other hand, refs get to know players very well so every player must have a certain reputation in a ref's mind such as "fair guy who never fouls" or "serial diver" or "elbow flayer" like Shearer. Sometimes it seems inevitable that reputations can sway a ref's mind as to whether an incident was fair or not.

Poor presser from Hughes. sounded defeated and downcast and in this mood he doesn't inspire confidence. Has he given up mentally? If so the players will soon sense it's all over
-
Quite a lot of venom based on absolutely nothing concrete except a speculative rumour published in a malevolent red top rag stirring the sh*t to unsettle our team on the run in. Well played sir for your very balanced opinion of something that may never have happened.

...and he's right too. My guess is that Sofiane realises he made a mistake coming here in the first place and is craftily engineering his way out. Pick a non-fight with an simpleton oaf like Hughes and getting 'frozen out' may well be part of the game plan to be invited tavoid branching any contact issues at the end of the season.

People are so down about this one but we have to win one day just by the way statistics works, so why not this weekend. You never know we might nick a 3 or 4 Nil out of the blue. People keep insisting we have a great bunch of players so it shouldn't be totally against the odds.
-
Chris, he's no more dreadful than Stephens, neither can head a ball which is all a CB is paid for. Let's give Bednarek a run alongside Yoshi in a back four, we don't need a five across the back against the Cherries from Littledown so an attacking 4-3-2-1.

Totally agree. Tadic for all his frustrations is the only truly creative player we have. Two up top might work if we had more to work with than those two useless lumps of lard that we have at the moment.
-
Good joke, best of the week. Keep it up!
-
Your were saying the same about Dusan Tadic yesterday or was it today, you slag off so many players it's hard to keep up. Who do you like other than your mirror and keyboard?

Big clubs are entitled to win, we should just let them...
Charlie Wayman replied to ashnats's topic in The Saints
Wasn't your invitation only to the top 4 (FOUR) a couple of years ago? Why not apply it to the Top 17! -
It saddens me to say it as a fan of more years than I am prepared to post (you can be certified for it!) but I agree with you totally. We are down already and deservedly so, arguably we have been the poorest side in the league since Christmas. The notion of picking up 12 pts from 5 games after all that has gone before borders on lunacy. If we get 3 we'll be extremely lucky and I doubt the need to eat my hat!
-
Sadly no, they were both in place on Saturday although Reed looked particularly uncomfortable and up tight.
-
Stop defending the indefensible! The guy was out of order.
-
Doubt it. Just a bunch of lads trying to do their best to be fair and to please everyone. They probably look at this forum and think **** it, why bother for this bunch of moaning, ungrateful glory hunters.
-
We do seem to be the only team that cannot win. We've forgotten how to mentally as we saw on Saturday. By and large the most likely outcome of all this is that we pick up about 3 or 4 pts at the most from the last five of our games, all from draws.

You made that up for laughs, go on admit it. You'll have us all in stitches.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Charlie Wayman replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
When his time at Burnley is done maybe we can get Jack Cork back. Just the sort of player we need to steady us in the Championship and around whom we can rebuild. Would make a good captain as well. -
No chance, Leicester are an ugly team to play against at the best of times. Our style of football seems to work best against high pressing, good passing teams that leave space for us to flatter but deceive. Invariably we end up losing. We're useless against high energy, long ball, physical sides. Invariably we end up losing. That's why we've won 1 in 20 and why we were dead and buried long ago.

Matt Targett - Joins Aston Villa (Official)

You are right there! -
Matt Targett - Joins Aston Villa (Official)
Charlie Wayman replied to Kaiser Soze's topic in The Saints
That is nowhere near the whole story. No way was he ever going to better Bertrand so moving on was his only sensible choice. OK we may lose Bertie in the summer but surely we can do better than Targett who appears to be not very bright at all. Being part of a club in which Sessignon plays doesn't automatically make him a great player. -
Won't make any difference to me either way. Just can't be Rrsed to trek up to Wembley anymore. Using it as a club ground has ruined its special status, just another over-hyped, hyper-expensive footie stadium with inadequate facilities, lousy catering and stinking loos.
