  1. Or justified depending on your point of view - he's made 4 league appearances in 5 years as a pro and now struggles to even get non league loan moves. Professional footballer? Well it's not really him, is it? TBF It's not his fault he was given a 5 year contract but as the people paying his wages it is our concern, and in our interest. Personally I'd pay him off and get him out - he's never going to make it, we'll never use him and we can't sell him either - what's the point? Might as well just cut our losses.....
  2. Revolution of course!
  3. If the Clyne rumour is true then it might give a good indication of how we can expect the team to play next season, especially if we sign Buttner. Both seem to have their main strengths offensively so perhaps we'll have to rely on width in the fullback or even wingback areas......or it could mean NA just thinks without some pace at the back we'll get punished. Clyne seems a good little player although he was nullified fairly easily I thought both times we played Palace. If we do sign him then I wouldn't expect a right winger to start in front of him too often though - we'll need someone to fill in and cover and maybe where the likes of Chaplow and Guly get their chance.
  4. That's because you are talking rubbish. It's perfectly acceptable to slate a black player without it being racist. I'd prefer Puncheon or Chaplow. It is absolutely the individuals choice to decide their opinion, if you don't like it well that's a shame but don't critisize it.
  5. If that were the case then Lallana would get shedloads of stick for a bad game, but he doesn't. I think people need to recognise that it's an entirely legitimate opinion to think Guly isn't that good without it being uneducated (football wise), rascist or anything else. Personally I don't rate him that much, I'd rather have Chaplow or Puncheon in the side, but today I thought NA's tactics made him look worse than he actually was. I hope he doesn't play against Millwall as we have IMO better options.
  6. Ha ha, that's superb - sounds like a good lad.
  7. I thought that was pushing things a bit!
  8. Yes, RIP Davy. I'm only slightly younger than 40 (at least for 2 weeks) but The Monkees reruns were compulsory Saturday morning viewing. For a manufactured band they had some cracking tunes as well, "Last train to Clacksville" and "Pleasant valley sunday" being my favourites. Oh, and I had no idea Shirley Maclaine was Davy's mother!
  9. The whole hand shaking routine is a bit of a farce and a faff if you ask me. I've more respect when it happens informally after the game as it's voluntary and means something. The pathetic routine before the game is just something that needs to be done before the game kicks off and I doubt anyone really takes it seriously. I'd get rid of it.
  10. Feel sorry for her friends, family and fans. It's a tragic loss to warbling.
  11. Accountable? Really? The whole point of a monarchy and it's strength is that it is not accountable except to God (albeit not of the Catholic persuasion). How on earth will a system that enshrines divine right ever become accountable? It's whole existence is based upon the fact that the royal family are best placed to lead us due to some heriditary "superpowers" I presume. It's a ridiculous, anachronistic and absurd institution that finds it's only defence in tradition and fear of an alternative.
  12. I thought Lambert was unplayable today - fantastic first touch throughout the game, good vision, passing and striking (despite not scoring). Seems strange to say but for me that was his best performance at SMS this season although there were no goals for him. West Ham can buy who they want but I wouldn't trade Ricky for any of their players. I don't think it was a coincidence that he played so well with Sharp either - the two look a tailor made partnership at this level. Think you may be putting too much emphasis on the West Ham game; would be great to win but it's not make or break or even defining.
  13. Don't see this being called off. If it was the surrounding area then they'd have done so already, likewise with the pitch. So it's just the amount of snow on the pitch and given that it's got undersoil heating and probably covered then that shouldn't be a problem either.
  14. Anyone got a list of the charities that they've ripped off, and the amounts owed? Also exactly how much they dodged in tax last time round, and how much they owe now? I'm going to put together a youtube video, got the perfect music "Thick as thieves" by The Jam (Demo version for any fans) and a few stats would help. Ta
  15. Thanks both. I should probably give it a go as I do appreciate a book with good characterisation. As I mentioned I really don't go in for war time drama, and the adaptatation was full of period drama manners and dewy eyed glances which probably fail to convey the emotion of the book. Even the trench scenes seemed a little false, and almost polite. You probably did well avoiding the adaptation and at least I've only seen the first episode. It reminded me of "Atonement" - I've not read that book either but pretty sure both books are easily far, far better than their screen adaptations.
  16. This. It's different (as far as I know), simple, can be sung at a fast tempo (which will suit us) and finally it's the jam ffs!
  17. Mod for the music and fashion but frankly scooters don't cut it for me so not entirely mod.
  18. I love these threads, as if there is a general arbiter of taste to eventually judge who is right and who is wrong. Drink what you like and enjoy it - don't get all snobbish about it. Personally it's lager all the way for me - "ale" I just don't like. I do like Guinness though and grew up on mild (hate that stuff now though). Ultimately though I don't think it's "ale" I dislike as much as the people who decry anyone who doesn't like it. Get a grip - do you really want to be a beer version of a wine snob?
  19. I think you really need to compare him against Chris Nicholl - they had similar constraints and spending limits (and for a fair while the same players). Under Nicholl we never finished lower than 12th, under Branfoot we ceased to be entertaining and became relegation strugglers. Admittedly it may not have been all Branfoot's fault but the rot started there and the football wasn't worth watching.
  20. Missed opportunity if we don't, and needs to be sung at a fast pace which should suit some....
  21. Is birdsong any good? I've nearly bought it a few times but never got round to it mainly because wartime dramas don't really interest me. I did watch the first episode of the dramatisation a couple of nights ago though and underwhelmed isn't the word, I found it very dull which was a surprise given the plaudits the book received.
  22. Erm, not really. By that logic it looks like you're saying we should have got 2 pens with a third turned down, and they shouldn't have been allowed to have their goal stand.....which would make it 2-0 to us. Not quite sure how that evens itself out?
  23. Not if you register him as a loan, and then make it permanent. Boro did it with Juke. That said, it's not normally NA's style to chuck players in without even training with the squad so the best he'd probably get is a place on the bench. Far more likely Lee gets an extended run out. He'll probably score a hattrick as well Now that would be a nice selection dilemma to have.....
  24. Did anyone notice a grim reaper (albeit a tiny one) towards the top right of that clip?
  25. That would make him his own worst enemy.
