  1. We've actually got quite a low unemployment rate though so whilst it's convenient to blame pesky benefit claimants I'm not sure it's quite that simple. Quite a complex area with many nuances mind.
  2. Without wanting to jinx it, I'm fairly confident. I doubt Swansea will be too defensive at home like Norwich were and if they come at us then we should be able to cope with it and exploit the gaps they leave. Swansea don't create that much either. We'll win 1-3.
  3. I haven't watched the press conference but did last nights vote justify having a press conference? It's not like anything has materially changed yet because it still needs to go through the Lords. Appreciate it's an emotive issue for some but it comes across as if Sunak thinks the Rwanda scheme is the burning issue of our times, the biggest single thing that keeps everyone up at night and will make or break him in an election. Dunno about anyone else but surely there's more important shit he should be doing rather than holding a (presumably) self congratulatory press conference about a vote a government with an 80 seat majority should win at a canter anyway.
  4. You get the impression both parties would rather set their head on fire than go down that route.
  5. Have I missed something? Has the season ended early? I’m loving the results and performances right now and it’s brilliant to watch but I’d hold fire on the self congratulatory smug posts until we’ve secured promotion. That’s what a squad like this should be delivering. Also worth noting that Martin blamed himself for the four defeats (in his last press conference) so even he is echoing a lot of the criticism levelled at him at the time. Anyway, thoroughly enjoying watching saints play and I hope it continues.
  6. Seems like a decent player from the video although it's not a position we lack for in numbers. Decent skill on the ball and at times looks like a fat Lallana.
  7. Sheff Weds doing well in the form table and not the pushovers they were at the start of the season. It'll be one of those where they defend deep but aggressively, there will be hardly any space and few chances. Draw for me, 0-0.
  8. TBF whichever side of the fence you sat on it doesn't sound like there was much interest in Che during the summer. Think I recall there may have been rumours of Che going to B'mouth for 9M? 15M was never going to happen though.
  9. They'll have had more detailed discussions about what kind of role he would be playing and how much. Both proposals may be acceptable but one might be better than the other from a playing perspective. Or he may just really like his mate and not want to be too far away from him like you suggested.
  10. It's probably more to do with guarantees of playing time than anything else. He wants and needs as many games as possible and Hull are probably making a more convincing case than we are of him getting it.
  11. Fraser was clearly MOTM but I thought Lumley looked calm, composed and saved what little he had to deal well. Also thought Meghoma looked excellent and was impressed with him.
  12. Absolutely, you remind me of Nicklas Bendtner.
  13. That's a really good and well thought out post. Well done and have a medal.
  14. This is useful as find myself in a similar situation. I've ended up adopting a cat - she started hanging around in 2017 to the point where she was round my house virtually all the time. Took her to the vet and although she'd been chipped they either couldn't get in touch or the original owners weren't interested. They wouldn't give me the details for previous owner for GDPR purposes. Anyway, I've taken her on and she's bloody brilliant - love her to bits. Trouble is she's just turned 16 so I'm assuming pet insurance might either be too expensive or more likely not cover her in a lot of cases?
  15. I binged it all on Tuesday (it's on ITV X), there's also a documentary going out after the final episode tonight which should be worth a look plus Times Radio did an interview with Alan Bates and the MP which is on YouTube. Fascinating stuff if completely appalling. Shows so many failures and the utter helplessness that the sub postmasters found themselves in - it's not just the post office that needs to take a kicking. The justice system also needs to hang it's head in shame.
  16. So this is effectively Aberdeen slapping a price tag on him and if 5M is the opening price then could probably get him for less. Hard to tell - he looked OK in the clips I saw and probably offers more of an aerial threat than we already have. Guess it all depends on what happens with Che.
  17. So have we signed him then?
  18. Ha, was just coming onto this thread to comment on Slow Horses and you've beaten me to it. I finished the third season last night. It's the best thing on TV for me, absolutely brilliant. Writing and acting is top notch right the way through and Gary Oldman is superb.
  19. Sunak had a lucky escape if you ask me. RM would have controlled 90% of a conversation that didn’t go anywhere or produce anything meaningful. And before anyone gets too upset, it’s a joke and I don’t really mean it.
  20. I like him, comes across well and I like the football and results we're currently getting. At the moment things seem to be clicking so that's all good. I gave him a bit of stick when we were in our losing streak because he deserved it and we were gash defensively. You can bang on all you like about needing time but no other club was shipping goals like we were and most of them had considerably less resources and this brings me to the most important point: He's currently achieving exactly what he should be and he's certainly not over achieving. Most relegated clubs (particularly ones that have been in the premier league for more than a couple of seasons) will go back up and bloody well should be at or near the top of the table. You can call me entitled but the squad we have in both quality and quantity is far far better than any of the clubs except Leicester and Leeds. So yeah, I'm loving this right now but lets not kid ourselves he's the new messiah and reinvented football. Given the resources he has, he's just about delivering.
  21. Middle of a busy period isn’t the time to make an unenforced formation change. Especially when 4 at the back was working fine. My guess is he’s realised Manning ain’t good enough at left back
  22. Think Mason Mount would be a superb player for us. Get him in. Also think we should be going for Fonte and Yoshida. Robbie Keane too - we're the only team he hasn't played for and apparently it was his boyhood dream to play for us so that one kind of makes sense. Knows where the back of the goal is, got a goal for an eye and a bit of a marquee signing. No brainer.
  23. That was one for the can we win ugly brigade and needed to be. I thought QPR were tough, committed, closed us down quickly and really pushed us. Excellent away win. Fair play to Charles too - deserved to go but went because he was covering for others mistakes. I wouldn't be fining him for getting sent off. If you want to get promoted then you need performances like this when you can't play your usual game. Great result.
  24. Might be more likely we try to tie a deal up with Trabzonspor for a permanent in January and use the cash on someone else. I'd be surprised if he came back here although I don't think he's ever been given much of a chance.
