Pardew - Time to act like the best team in the league
Redondo Saint replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Pards probably feels that this is his team now and they are well equipped to have a strong finish to the end of the season.... let's hope we are not disappointed. -
As usual, a light hearted thread featuring probably the best ever SFC player and obvious fan of the club, is high-jacked by the resident forum ***t.

So who's travelling the furthest for the Pompey game?
Redondo Saint replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
I got back yesterday after watching the game in a pub in West End!!! Approx 11,000 miles so I must be the winner!! (was over for business the week before and stayed longer!) -
There was once a feature on MLT in the Sunday Mail and they used a photo of this. Try them - it was about '95.

thanks I don't want ****ed up Brits with Man U and Chelsea shirts that's for sure!! Greece is my preference but I also like the idea of flying from Soton and not dealing with Gatwick. I am over this weekend and will pick up some brochures.

Taking Mrs Redondo to UK in July and want to go to Euro land for a few days. Croatia sounds good and we can fly from Soton, but I also like the Greek islands and it's been a long time since last there. I haven't been to Croatia. Any suggestions?

Echo dispute reaches Express
Redondo Saint replied to Third Division South Days's topic in The Saints
I don't thinks it's such a sure thing that a football club is a bad investment. Gold and Sullivan are not stupid - they could have waited for West Ham to go bust and then buy them, but they didn't. No doubt they have huge debts, but they are manageable. Spurs made a pretty good profit last year and they won't be the only ones. The trick is to make sure you spend wisely annd keep the fans on side. The premiership has the riches and the risks but even out of it there are ways to stay profitable. In my opinion! -

Clearly you have no principles othewise you would understand NC's positiom. Or perhaps you are siding with the paper as they appear to now support Rupert... -

I don't think you make your point very well by using politicians as an analogy!!! We all know they have zero trust and integrity just like Murray. -
Echo dispute reaches Express
Redondo Saint replied to Third Division South Days's topic in The Saints
I have taken Cortese's side in this (without knowing all the facts of the story) as Murray/The Echo have a history (in my opinion) of ego trips and spin. So far, NC has not put a foot wrong for the club. The Echo it would appear, will do anything to sell papers - even using a charity as a tool to cause trouble with the city's football club. -
Echo dispute reaches Express

Agreed that this is a poor situation for both sides. However, if the paper was asked to keep quiet for a certain period, they should have done. I buy The Echo when over, but this spat with SFC would not make me want to boycott it as I have never bought it for SFC news - not since Graham Hiley left. -
The shirt sponsorship is interesting. I find it hard to believe that the absence of sponsorship is due entirely to the clubs anniversary. My belief is NC knows that we will get a higher fee from a sponsor when we are promoted and that Flybe were looking to reduce their contribution. NC calculates the goodwill generated and better negotiating position when promoted is more valuable than an extra season with Flybe. I think this is a great piece of business.

Echo dispute reaches Express

Surely this point is irrelevent if you asked to keep it confidential? If someone asks you to keep quiet, you should, unless you have no integrity. -

The original issue was concerning integrity. Clearly NC feels The Echo have none and I agree with him. Freedom of speech is not at issue. There is no injunction stopping the paper from reporting about SFC. They are not permitted in the ground or granted any interviews - that's it. -
How about Flybe were asked to pay more next season but the two parties could not come to an agreement...? Keep in mind Flybe like the rest of aviation, is not having the greatest of times. If you read the on-line Echo their spin was a big loss to SFC as opposed to a commercial decision by Flybe to cut their advertising budget. - but then again I think The Echo currently have a vendetta against SFC!!!

Saints V Stockport County - Post Match Reaction
Redondo Saint replied to St Landrew's topic in The Saints
What are you talking about? -
Paul Walsh?

I remember Norman Wisdom didn't like Mr Risdale either.

Agreed! I buy the paper when I am over for the local news and non league sport. For coverage on SFC I go to the official website, this site and Sky Sports. Murray is out of control in my opinion. What other local newspaper editor has his picture on various pages and writes a weekly column on himself and his family? He's probably got a tracksuit with his initials on it....
