  1. Clearly a good player on his day but must have a problem with his character. Scores 2 goals against Man U and just a few years later falls off the footballing map?
  2. I think will only work if you have a TV at home showing the channel you want to watch? Probably the best to watch for me will be to see if there is a web link.
  3. Anyone know if this will be shown over here? What channel?
  4. Beer depends on domestic draft or import. In my area it's around $5 for draft and $6 for import. I think NY is similar in cost to me.
  5. Sorry, you are not living in SO3 = Can't be trusted.
  6. Perhaps we should all be branded in our ability to be Saints fans? 1 mile from SMS = Platinum Fan 2 miles from SMS = Gold etc... 5,000 Miles = Untrustworthy, sunshine loving, money grabbing non-fan
  7. So if these two people lived in Southampton you would not ignore them?
  8. +1 Thought the same thing!
  9. All the obvious ones are most certainly worth seeing. What you see on the TV is what you will see when you are there - it's a great city to visit. Do be prepared to walk a lot of places and use the subway. I only used a taxi from and to the airport. I recommend you stay near 42nd st/Manhatten as this is a good base. Ellis Island is a must if you want some history of both New York and the rest of the USA -fascinating stuff. Grand Central Terminal (staion) is another good place to go as it's interesting and been in many films - close to Times Square. Central park on a horse and buggy is worth it - plenty of brownie parts from the Mrs too! Always a good city to watch a musical and then have a late dinner. Plenty of tours you can go on but I think it's more fun to plan the places you want to see and make your own tour. Have not been to Harlem, Queens or the Bronx but would suggest you watch Kojak, Baretta or Law & Order if you want to see the crime side of the city as this will be much healthier!! Early June and September are the most comfortable months in the summer if you plan to do a lot of walking. Can't say I would bother going to a baseball game - too long, expensive and no fun if you don't know the rules or care who wins.
  10. What a bizarre thread! I think we all have learnt that GM had a difficult period when he lived in the USA and now it has finally been vented. How sad! Personally, I think it's a good thing to be able to 'bang on' about the good and bad things in the old country and the new country - exacly who does this **** off? I will never stop being interested in what happens in Hampshire - I think that is normal behaviour. I feel sorry for you that your time outside of your comfort zone was not what you expected. A poor thread and I look forward to you posting something better - as we know you can.
  11. for the first time in many seasons, I don't get too depressed when we go a goal down early on!!!
  12. Problem with your argument is that the majority of the people you consider 'rich' are just normal working families that worked hard to have a decent house of their choice. Your misguided view on politics/the rich fails to understand that the majority of middle income Britain pays the tab for those that evade tax and those that choose to be the beneficiary of the welfare system. No matter what govt wins power, the middle income always pay for it.
  13. He scored on his debut when we got thumped by Spurs 7 - 2 !!!
  14. Over time I think the more balanced people on here will agree that Maggie was a good leader of the UK. Over a period of several parliaments every goverment makes mistakes - some for the right reasons, others not. I know history will show that Maggie left a better legacy than Brown and Blair. Back to Michael Foot. Certainly a man of political principle and admired by all sides of parliament. Not a smart dresser(!) but in those days there was more emphasis on substance than wearing suits and having 'celebrity' mates. Foot was a very well educated man and probably would have been better off not leading the labour party but staying behind the scenes. I am far away from his politics but can still appeciate a 'good' parliamentarian.
  15. let's hope the tiff is now over and everyone plays together nicely! and no smart arse comments from Murray...
  16. I realy hope the rain clouds soon disappear and the sun starts to shine in Hampshire. So many people are full of doom and gloom and I guess have found solace in posting negativity... FFS, winning every game is not going to happen for any team. So what if AP was a bit short with Radio Solent - who cares? Clearly AP is loyal to his team, and if Solent were slammng him after the Wycombe game then no doubt this would be in the back of his mind when the questions moved to that game. I don't want a happy clappy manager that the media love. I think we need a bit more substance, and we have it with AP. Some people are trying to paint a picture that a camera wouldn't take! (American cliche - apologies!)
  17. They always have - maybe more these days as TV seems to prefer the London accent for almost every programme and more kids watch TV these days. Portsmouth people have less Hampshire accent than other areas as over the years a lot moved to the city with the dock yard and Navy.
  18. Jesus, I just said that too!!
  19. I am sure most normal Scots would not want to break from the Union. However, like most places, apathy rules and most normal people don't vote, whereas the fanatics always do, thus allowing the loony minority to rule the majority. Having said that, I can never understand why most Sweatys will want anyone but England to win, yet most English prefer to see a UK team win. So they can fook off!
  20. We suffer together!!!! My favourite has to be Jackie Johnson! I always watch her forecasts!
  21. I guess her father must be.... Mr Trant! Genius.
  22. I think the more serious point here is we should be able to switch our tactics according to the opposition and the oppositions pitch. The squad is big enough surely?
  23. LOL Unless you have watched U.S news you will never know how much this film resembles reality!
  24. Let me tell you about TV news in Los Angeles!! Everyone is so far up there own backside it drives me nuts - still after 10 years. They all spend so much money on fake tan and teeth whitener its a joke. The weather presenters are treated as major 'stars' and when there is a sligght chance of rain it makes the top story. From Jan to March in LA we are constantly told the TV stations are on 'Storm Watch" or 'Storm Track' and there are interviews with so called reporters out in the rain with their yellow fishermen's outfits. Then they will interview some members of the public who are asked what they think of the rain and they respond by (normally in Latino accent) saying "oh.. it's really kinda scary" FFS!!! Then there are the 'Sports' reporters who are so revved up I swear they have had 2 lines of charlie. So my friends, BBC South, ITV, etc, is still a shed load better than a lot of TV elsewhere in the world. Try a sample!! http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/video?id=7294193 What's really irritating is rain is expected today and over the weekend - looks like I will not watch much news! Rant Over.
