  1. Holy crap, this thread has generated some debate!! Surely this episode is all about balance? Banning the Daily Echo is not a long term SFC strategy in my opinion. Did the paper show a lack of integrity? Clearly something happened that NC felt was wrong and his punishment was to ban them. Right or wrong, he is in charge and felt this was in the best interest of SFC, but I am sure it's not a permanent decision. The editor of the local paper decides to go public regarding the ban, and in my opinion spins it deliberately to cause mischief amongst the fans - why mention Lowe? However, they feel they have done nothing wrong. The attempts of some posters trying to make out that the ancient craft of journalism is to always report fact and truth is at best naive. Similarly we should not blindly accept everything that comes from 'official websites' as fact and truth. I don't particularly care for Murray but do recognise his paper provides value in reporting news from SFC. A failed relationship for The Echo and SFC does neither party any favours as it stops the fans from reading about the club. My advice to them both is to get over yourself, share a bottle of wine somewhere and resolve the situation quickly!
  2. Have I missed the irony? Let's boycott SFC in favour of The Daily Echo.....
  3. Actually the tanker fiasco was due to the issues in the bidding process not cost or time over-run. The VH71 programme was cancelled as a result of a new President wanting to reduce defence spending - no cost or time over-run. There are very few occasions when a losing bidder attempts to change a decision through the courts. Coming from West End, I can look at both sides!
  4. Perhaps there are more issues than we are being told?
  5. I always buy the Echo when I am back in Blighty, for the local news, heritage section and non league footy. They do a pretty good job on the whole. However, I do think since Ian Murray became editor it has lost identity and believes it is way too important and influential than it really is. Ever since Murray and Lowe fell out, the Echo stirred trouble between fans and the club in a cynical attempt to sell more papers - in my opinion. Murray and Lowe are very similar in letting their egos get in the way of making good decisions. What other local paper has several pictures of its editor in every publication? What other football club chairman had his own initials on his tracksuit?!! This latest episode highlights again, Murray's ego and desperation at the expense of a good working relationship with the city's football club.

  7. Such a shame that yet again a certain tosser has taken the thread off to his own agenda. It took me a little while to realise that the anti WGS view is purely due to him leaving RL. This obsessive need to fight for RL's 'honour' is really quite disturbing, particularly when in the case of WGS there is no battle to fight. I don't think RL is the complete villain some people might say, but I sure don't agree with NC's continual hatred of anyone that had oppsoing views or simply left the Lowe ship. I've recently spent some time with WGS and I can confirm he is a top man and a long time 'friend' of SFC - without the need to criticise past or present directors, unlike NC.
  8. I don't think BAE are to blamne for this delay and cost over run chaps. Look to the MOD who continually changed specifications and requirements - much the same as the Eurofighter which is also late and over budget. In the US, every tax dollar spent on the military is scrutinised and audited which is why most projects are on time and in budget.
  9. NC at it again I see!! Incredible how it appears appropriate for some people to want WGS to fail becuase Gibson fired Southgate. I wish WGS all the best. This game needs characters not just technicians.
  10. Just to clarify in Winchester or in a salon?
  11. Kevin Philips, Dennis Wise
  12. What a story!! I always feel a little safer when flying with a Brit flight crew. Does he still live in Hampshire?
  13. I really can't believe that ex managers and players write a cheque to SFC. I've no doubt they are paid for, but more like by a corporate sponsor.
  14. You really can't help yourself can you? Do you honestly believe Wotte bought his own ticket?
  15. Good call
  16. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1881423,00.html For those without a ST this is well worth the money. I went when over last month and thought it fair value and for a big game would be even better.
  17. Jesus, this thread has now become a beginners course in English law Another victim of you know who. Please close this thread!!!
  18. Thanks for the original post Phil. Very interesting and sounds like a great night. Such a shame about the inevitable attempt to poison the thread. I hope MLT comes out to LA and we get the same chance as you chaps if I don't get to see him in Blighty.
  19. That's my point. Sunday's should be for washing the car, going to the pub, eating roast beef and falling asleep in the afternoon, then going back to the pub later.
  20. What the hell is that about? Any reason or justification for such a late start? Sky really are determined to screw up the traditions of the game. Perhaps they want to make footy a TV game with no fans in the ground. Makes no difference to me due to location, but I doubt too many families are happy with this time at home.
  21. Miami Vice Magnum Roobarb & Custard ,,,Howards Way
  22. Does NC read the Daily Mail?
  23. How very true. Sadly, I think it's also the metality of England managers too. As MLT also once said, you would have thought Hoddle would have picked him for the world cup even if it was only for taking penalties.
  24. Correct. AO was made a director to out-vote the likes of Crouch and Wilde.
  25. I think you are right on this. It seems to me that as the club is now owned by one individual there is no longer the need to have several high powered directors/executives. NC is the full time CEO and can run the business with a team of department managers as opposed to 'directors'. I am sure AO wants a high profile, highly paid position and this is no longer something SFC can offer. I also believe this change is another vote of confidence in AP regarding footballing matters.
