  1. Still no snow here!
  2. In fairness I don't think View From The Top is attacking other diseases or afflictions, etc. It's directed only to you.
  3. A balance of all is better than a majority of a few.
  4. But it's not past midnight here, it's only 4.15pm and on that note I am off to the pub. Good afternoon/night/morning all!
  5. Did the 20th century start in 1900 or 1901? Why don't we ignore the pedantics and continue!
  6. Sadly, as the majority of MPs are lawyers, PR people or professional politicians it's unlikely we will get anything but soundbite governments.
  7. 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 How many years?
  8. Having been away since 2001, I am sorry to have missed some games but not sorry to have missed the seasons in comparison to the '90s and '80s. Have we ever had a 'stand-out' player from this decade? The notable players for me have been Marsden, Beattie, Bridge, Niemi. Walcott and Bale didn't play enough games for me to include. I am struggling to think of many more..............
  9. The best quotes I have heard from a Saints manager for a long time... I think it's very important not to lose the British mentality We have a certain aggression that lifts us as a nation sometimes and we should never lose sight of that. We are not here to breed mediocrity. To finish middle of the table doesn't really interest me. There is no doubt in my mind that Southampton have a very good chance of being in the Premier League in the next five years and I'm hoping I take them. Merry Christmas!
  10. My 1983 Capri was more fun in the snow and ice - not!!
  11. Probably not too many Cortinas and Allegros in Dubai...
  12. For the benefit of those of us overseas, please attach some pics of the snow in and around God's country. Can't beat a bit of nostalgia during this time of year - plus I am getting ****ed off with hearing "Happy Holidays" and all the other BS. Honda have wheeled out their old Christmas advertising slogan again - 'Happy Hondadays'! It's just remined me why next year we will be spending Christmas back in Southampton!!
  13. ****ttttttttttttttt
  14. who is the sweaty commentator? how many times does he say "ya knoo"?
  15. Keep in mind how big the state is, northern Cal gets all the seasons while in the south the winters are mild. However, if I drive 80 miles north east to Big Bear, I could snow ski this morning and get back to Redondo and water ski in the afternoon!
  16. 75F today in Redondo Beach. Hope this helps!
  17. If "most of us do" then surely "some people don't" otherwise all of us do. If you actually read the thread.
  18. I watched Meridian when I was over recently and struggled to find any 'local' news for those in the Southampton area. Barry Westwood and Trevor the Weather would be disgusted!!
  19. Some people just don't get that point! Look at how well the union 'leaders' pay themselves. Big salaries, pensions, cars, houses, etc, all coming from members dues!! Strike or no strike, they get their money yet escape criticism from the boss bashers!!
  20. I think your argument falls down when discussing the open market. BA offer a service that is subject to competition. This means they have to offer a good product at a competitive price otherwise they get no business or lose a lot of money. If the cost of staff is so high they can't be competitive then they will go bust just like every other business. Like it or not, BA are a business that has to make a profit in a very competitive and challenging industry. Ryan Air and Easy Jet have a very good safety record and do not cut corners. Airlines are governed by very strict rules regarding staff and equipment. Other than perhaps your own field of expertise, everyone has had to take some cuts in salary and benefits.
  21. Agree completely. However, most unions encourage the 'them and us' attitude as it provides greater strength to the union. Unfortunately larger firms and organisations that have been unionised for many years will always have an adversarial relationship between management and union unless both accept without change everyone's job is on the line. This year in the U.S there have been major strives forward in working practices in the airline and automotive industry because many major businesses (such as United Airlines and GM) were extremely close to bankruptcy.
  22. Beating West Ham away about 10 years ago and then on the **** in Leicester Square before getting the mail train to Eastleigh! All of us in our late 30's/early 40's. Bloody marvellous!
  23. Yet another management change. Did Rodgers have enough experience to get them in the play-offs is one thing, let alone promoted. Stand by for the AP links!
  24. The airline industry as well as the rest of the economy was in a completely different place in 2007 compared to the last 18 months. Must the same as the finance sector, what was acceptable two years ago no longer is today. Pretty much every single airline has lost big money in this period and many have gone bust. It seems to me this is where the union have failed to understand BA's position and possibly the reaction of the public. I assume the union people wil still get all their pay and benefits during this period and in the future..............
  25. I think a tame Baboon would also jump around tonight.
