Still no goals from open play.....
-
How long is it going to be before Markus realises he has bought a pup and pulls out? If I were in his shoes, the thought would have crossed my mind that I can write off the 20 mil or so that i've spent, and just close it down. If we carry on like this, we will end up with And for those people who keep saying "we'll be fine", i've heard that a couple of times before. And it wasn't. If we had started on 0 points, we would still be in the bottom three. Only the deluded would say we are not relegation candidates. I thought that just before Mr Liebherr arrived we had reached rock bottom. Well, we haven't, and we're still falling like a rock.

I think the OP only listed footballers......

The more we sponsor the merrier. Will make Markus take note of fan power if anything.

2-1 , 80's somewhen - too young to remember exactly. Armstrong and Case both scored crackers if I remember correctly. That game, under the east stand, turned me into a Saints fan

On their own, of course they won't manage to generate the 'spirit'. But if you get rid of everyone who has ever had anything to do with the club, our history means nothing. (I wasn't suggesting that Rofe should come back, but someone of that character who we can see gives everything for the club) The 'spirit' has been eroded considerably in the last few years, but could be, in my opinion, revived with the new ownership. This board for the first time in ages has (almost) a positive feel to it. People are looking forward to the new season despite the dreadful position we find ourselves in. The bad apples are gone, we don't have to throw away the good ones.

Maybe a valid view for those who run the club, but a little shortsighted for those who actually do the good work. The spirit of Southampton won't return to the dressing room without the likes of Woggy, and dare I say it, someone like Dennis Rofe who despite not being the most gifted coach, could definitely get across to the players what it is to give a to5s about the club.

+1 Definitely. One of the biggest mistakes ever letting him go.

Too busy duck shooting no doubt to be bothered with this trivia....

Who will you support if Saints go really under ?

Basingstoke, maybe Reading as they are the nearest 'big' team to me. May even jump before Saints die, as the club I used to love no longer exists. Sick of being depressed every Saturday. -
OS Confirmed Michael Svennson - New Assistant Coach
lumuah replied to steadyeddie's topic in The Saints
As much as I have the utmost respect for Svennson as a player, what evidence is there that he is any good at coaching? Our defence has been an utter shambles all season, what has stopped him from saying anything about 'how it should be done' while he has been sidelined? If he has already been trying to coach from the sidelines then this only proves that we are still going backwards with this appointment. I, like many others, suspect that this is just propaganda from the club to try to use a popular figure to appease the fans. It's such a shame its all come to this...... -
Hassan Kachloul - the best left wing crosser we've had, even if he was a mercenary foreigner. Have to agree with Armstrong, and Nick Holmes as the two to nominate though

Still got my programme from that day! How we can dream of a final now.....
-
Steve Baker..... ....ok maybe not. Only two worthy of a mention for me in my time. Dodd and then Forrest.
-
Mark my words. In three years time, we'll be above Portsmouth again (even if we are still in the Championship.... or even league 1!)
-
So what's your point?
-
Great vision by Lord Lowe to bring in a centre back to get the goals for us!
-
According to Sky Sports text commentary, we haven't had any shots, on or off target. Is that right?
-
Simply a legend. I saw Shilton play, and Niemi was - in my opinion - a better keeper. (May have a lot to do with better fitness, coaching, etc than Shilton's era because there is no doubt that in his time Shilton was untouchable) I echo the sentiments of many that I would love to see him back as a coach (the BBC say he could resume some training in a couple of months, so its not impossible!) or hell even Niemi with one hand could be better than what we've got between the sticks at the moment!
-
Kerry Dixon, Ali Dia, Paul Rideout, Speedie (as mentioned above), Perry Groves, George Burley (alright, I know the question said players, but he is worthy of a mention), to some extent Mark Hughes

Never at 1-0!
