Pellegrino’s record at previous clubs was hardly impressive. Les Reed has got what he deserves but sadly so have the rest of us. What a shambolic mess. I’m sliding towards complete apathy with Saints.
-
I was waiting for that Wade. Excellent! Very original!

Anyone know any good links? Dare I even watch it...
-
Romeu just ball watches and marks space. I’m not sure why some people praise him so much. After ball watching for a while he lunged into A challenge, got booked (again) and they had a dangerous free kick in an area you don’t want them to. Overrated imo

Today will be a marker of our progress.

That’s really depressing. The attitude that you can be ‘delicate’ for football. Hahaha what a joke. Are you living in the dark ages. It’s NOT ACCEPTABLE to imply that football is for ‘laddy’ types only. I’d laugh if it wasn’t actually so depressing.
-
What a disgraceful attitude. You obviously have never suffered prejudiced comments aimed your way. Casual predudice is the biggest problem. Nobody would accept racist chanting as harmless.
-
The people on here that don’t ‘get it’ are also part of the problem. People don’t realise this stuff is being said to belittle and mock Brighton. What does that say to gay people? It’s unacceptable and appalling that people think this behaviour is harmless.

A lot of people seem keen to put Romeu back in but he’s been poor this season. I don’t understand it. Some players seem to fly beneath the radar. PEH had a better game than Romeu has had all year. If you give a motm performance and get dropped it sends a poor message in my opinion. It’ll be just another example of rewarding mediocrity like we have with some long term contracts for average players. I feel it creates the wrong culture.
-
I’m trying to get it all sorted in my head: Board: poor recruitment recently, giving out extended contracts to average/underperforming players, creating a culture of expectation through the promotion of the ‘Southampton Way’ and the Black Box’ as well as many ‘we do things differently’ self congratulatory statements. Pellegrino: continues to play players who underperform, not trying something different (eg formation), some baffling substitutions, no distinct style, no improvements that I can see in playing style/performances, odd post match comments which seem to state performances are good. It seems to me both the board and manager have weaknesses and have had a hand in the current situation we find ourselves. I wondered whether a change of manager could of improve anything as the players would stay the same. However, I feel I’ve listed enough issues with the manager that could be improved. I feel the squad is fairly average but other managers have got more out of some of these players. For that reason I conclude the manager needs to go.

Perfect response. Very sensible and articulate.

Spoilt brats? I think that’s very unreasonable. People pay to watch football. It’s not cheap. I don’t think anyone can say people have got their money’s worth going to home games for a long time. People are entitled to complain.

Les Reed refuses to speak to the press and has denied journalists the opportunity to speak to him. That’s a really worrying sign. The local rag should be all over this but they are afraid of upsetting him. Shouldn’t journalists be trying to hold him to account? The daily echo need to highlight that he won’t resoond to requests. It’ll be a better and more important story than just writing pointless pieces which borrow comments from elsewhere. Perhaps the echo need some pressure to raise this as a story?
-
Can’t blame the fans really. Was looking dire with Puel too. It’s all Les Reed. Please direct the blame where it’s deserved everyone.
-
Bertrand, Tadic, Redmond, Forster, Long are all not up to standard this year due to attitude or ability. All need clearing out.
-
This is all on Les Reed and arguably Ralph. Ralph needs to make a change now. As chairman he needs to earn his money. Academy is going backwards, two poor managerial appointments. Since the chief scout went to Spurs we’ve nosedived.

No pressure on MoPe on motd. Why is he not getting at least some pressure in the media? -

I agree we were generally okay today but the frustration comes from the result on top of other awful performances. The Brighton second half was unforgivable. Today we played well for most of the match. New gk, replaced Tadic and Redmond and we’ll be okay. Will we? Doubt it. -

Always SFC just loves an argument and to hear the sound of his own voice. Look at his amount of posts! It’s embarrasing. Over 10K comments. In the same amount of time I’ve not reached 200. I’d ignore him to be honest. It won’t stop him posting though as he has nothing else to do with his time. 10K! Haha

Genuine question: what has MPe done so far that suggests progress from when he arrived? I’m strugfling to see any improvement. That doesn’t mean we should be the finished article as such but what’s actually improved? Surely there must be some signs of progress? The midfield looked so easy to brush aside. Romeu was awful and kept giving the ball away too! There seems to be no link up between the midfield and defence and nothing seems to have improved this so far. I really want something positive to cling to. Can anyone give me some progress they’ve noticed that I haven’t?

It’s the first time I’ve watched Saints play in another town and had to hear neutrals slating our performance and rightly so. It was embarrassing when we looked so awful to have smirking glances in my direction. That’s why it was embarrassing to me. That was a personal laugh at my expense. As for going and supporting someone else, grow up. As if it’s that easy to do that. I’ve been a Saints fan all my life and had a season ticket for the majority of my adult life. I don’t jump to rash conclusions and often look for the positives. I don’t over post on here like some people. Just because I say something negative doesn’t mean I don’t have a valid point.
-
Who has improved under this joker? England got rid of him.
-
For the first time I feel so embarrassed to be a Saints fan. Average players is bad enough but what I can’t accept is a lack of desire. We didn’t look up for it again. We lost almost every 50/50. No energy, no determination and no desire. We’ll sleepwalk our way out of this league. Les Reed mentioned high energy, pressing, attacking football. The managers he’s appointing don’t seem to know the brief. Poor recruitment, poor effort and a total shambles. I can’t see any progress with his manager at all. I can take a poor result, if it’s clear there’s some philosophy but there isn’t.
