  1. Er.... crosses were coming in left, right and centre. What were you watching? Putting crosses in was THE problem. There was nobody in there to win the ball.
  2. I can't believe people are moaning about not creating loads of chances against an expensive Man Utd side. It's ridiculous. Expectations are through the roof. We should not expect to create loads of chances against every team purely because we are at home! Look at their team! Yes, complain when we don't against lesser teams but really, some people need to be realistic. We played well today. Try to enjoy it or you'll go mad. If you haven't already.
  3. Great second half performance today! A really enjoyable game despite the loss. Proud of the team. Feeling much more upbeat. Yes, we lacked a real goal threat but definite signs of improvement. I loved the high energy in the second half. I've been wanting that for ages.
  4. He said Austin may not be fit
  5. Do we think he can change it? I've not seen any signs so far that we are improving at all. We looked all over the place against Watford. We lacked energy, determination and desire. Watford pressed us and left me envious of their fans this year. We can't seem to play at a high tempo or press as a unit. What's gone wrong. I hope to god the manager can sort this but how long should it take to see some improvement?
  6. Where is PEH???
  7. Chalaba cost £5 million. Hoijberg cost £10m ish? Says it all there. Poor recruitment. Black box broken/overhyped. Silva has done exactly what I wanted MPe to do: pressing, high energy, exciting.
  8. What a sensible post Saint Fred. Good summary.
  9. Good to see everyone is on topic. Why discuss Boufal on a thread about a potential new signing? Just start a new thread otherwise there's no point in having them.
  10. Unusual for it to be Friday. Other clubs are doing theirs today.
  11. His brother's following Southampton FC on twitter now as well as Instagram
  12. These injuries haven't been announced have they?
  13. Of the young players, Ive not heard of Will before. How has he done in the friendly matches so far?
  14. Who is left to return to the squad? Another 5 was mentioned. No Josh Sims on the Austria trip...
  15. I find it laughable. Giggs? The club want someone with a proven record for bringing young players through as they've said constantly over the last few years. Track record. That's not Giggs or anyone without experience. I'm not expecting a great manager to be announced but I'm not worried in the slightest that it'll be someone's first managerial position.
  16. Puel and a Koeman were both mentioned in the run up to their appointment. This would suggest that it's likely to be one of those discussed at this stage. That's worrying. Surely they won't appoint someone to play more dull football? Surely?
  17. Where was a mystery guy mentioned? Link?
  18. Was Bertrand actually that good this year. He seems to get a lot of praise from pundits (who see the odd game). I feel he had a much worse season than previously. Is there a bias in favour of him? I could be wrong. I'm not saying he was poor but really, was he GREAT? Genuine question.
  19. Re-read Les Reed's January comments about Puel. He talks about him being a 'teacher' and teaching 'takes time'. He also said in a previous interview that when they appoint managers they tell them they'll get time and support and not need to be 'looking over their shoulder'. All this would seem to indicate that he is likely staying.

  21. Our strikers look isolated up front. The midfielders don't get up to support them. Both Gabi and Austin were surrounded by about 5 players. How do we expect to score with those tactics. Puel's taken no responsibility for his tactical errors and bemoans bad luck and good goalkeeping. Change the tactics! Don't lump the ball in from out wide to an isolated striker surrounded by loads of players then. He never learnt and kept repeating the same mistakes. Yes he's had some issues to contend with but his own point or tactical ability was his biggest problem.
  22. A few decent managers in the Championship. While I am concerned about a manager change (naturally a cautious person) I feel that I won't be excited by next season if he stays. A new manger would inject some excitement for me, especially one in the Poch mound - more pressing, energy. I'm not saying that should be a reason he should go but something that I do keep thinking about. I don't want to lose the passion for football that I have but I can feel a little apathy creeping in.
  23. Steven Davis? JWP? Not sure where I'd play these two with our current choices and formation.
