Did Cortese Do a Single Thing Wrong In His First Six Months?
VectisSaint replied to Noodles34's topic in The Saints
Only in your mind. -
We don't, we really don't. Look at the bench yesterday. We are two or three injuries away from the exact same situation as last year. We may be down to 2 fit CBs this week, no decent backup keeper, no backup RB (if Toby is injured), thin up front until JRod is back in January. No creative MF if Tadic is missing. We have a much smaller squad than last season. Our first XI (or may XV) are very good, as good as if not better than last season, but there is no way anyone can justify that we have a stronger squad or more depth.

Koeman resigned at Feyenoord in February, he was looking for a PL job after that, certainly sounded out Swansea, suspect Les had also sounded him out either then or previously as an option of things went tits up with Poch as was very likely when Nasty Nic left. The appointment of Koeman was nothing to do with luck, or for that matter much to do with the new Board, but due to the continuity from the old board.

Post-Match Reaction: Swansea 0-1 SAINTS
VectisSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
What about 14/15? Good win today, our team is looking good. But our squad is so thin, bench today showed that we have so little strength in depth. JWP injured, hopefully Toby is not too bad, JRod not back until Dec/Jan. No decent keeper backup. Not trying to be negative, but some people need to see how weak we could be with a few injuries or suspensions. Hopefully it will not be an issue. -
Certainly looked like he was upsetting a lot of people in the squad photo. Still makes no sense to me including him in the picture and then shipping him out.
-
I don't think we are allowed to play in the French League.
-
Bloody daft, if you ask me. We really needed a stronger goalkeeping lineup after last season, so we have replaced Boruc with Forster and still have the same poor backup, and a year older. We clearly have not learned the lesson from last season, just hope Forster does not get injured or suspended, I really hoped never to see KD in goal for us again (good bloke, blah blah), instead we ship out Poland's #1 (or even #2) keeper to Bompey. we even wait until he has been pictured in our squad photo before shipping him out.

So the Scottish Record and the OP don't understand the difference between Twitter and Instagram then. Your link explains why people had not seen anything on Twitter, because it wasn't on Twitter.
-
Never seen it mentioned before either. Bad taste for someone in Southampton though, not sure the Daily Record quite understood the Southampton link.

Not really early days, after all we have seen several minutes of Florin and Mane has got his work permit and will set foot in Southampton tomorrow for the first time, so clearly they are both brilliant. Toby has played a game. Taider was obviously a massive mistake. But no-one with any sense ever lamblasted Les Read who has been responsible for all of the singings with Ronald K, who again no-one seriously thinks is clown-like. But carry on Turdish (lol at predictive text) with your amusing postings.

When in Holland (or Belgium). It is not the same as Mayo in this country though. Dutch fries and mayo is not gross. -
Funny you should mention the Antelope Ground, but I found out recently that my Great Granddad was the landlord at the Antelope Hotel in 1889, the year Saints started to use it as their home ground.

You could smell John McGrath's embrocation from the back row in the Milton. Not so sure you couldn't smell it as you got off the Red Funnel ferry I only went to the Dell a few times after it was all-seater (because I moved away and couldn't get tickets easily after KK joined) so have very few memories of the atmosphere then, last time was when I took my daughter for the friendly against Le Havre. She is 21 now and season ticket holder but still recalls dancing in the back row of the East Stand to the half-time music, guess she would have been 8. The wooden stand was literally rocking that evening, not due to too many people though, just rotten wood. Atmosphere in earlier days was electric, the Anderlecht game always sticks in my mind amd also the Vittoria Guimares [sp] one , and also one or two games when we couldn't get in, Manure in the Cup I think it was, watched from the student hall tower block that overlooked the ground, but could not see the west side of the pitch, somewhere around 75-77. Didn't even know the girl whose flat we invaded, my mate just blagged his way in.

I guess Spuds' need for some sticky tape was greater than ours. But leaving the club because we had a surplus of stationery seems a little excessive.

Are you trying to make some of us feel old? Shouldn't you be at skool?
-
Surely one of the jobs of the Marketing Dept/Communications Dept is to communicate on aspects that might involve increasing sales. No-one is asking for Ron to tell us what is happening, but shirt sales could be affected by this player officially being available, saw several shirts with Mane's name on the back on Saturday. Sadly of course having mane on the back doesn't make us as much money as Alderwereledleerledorwhatever of course.

Exeter would be good, or East Cowes Vics
-
Was his profile ever there? Given there is still not a picture of the new boy Schneiderlin, not sure I would be too concerned if the OS has not yet caught up with the fact that one of our players is missing.
