  1. No, I think he is a defender.
  2. Usually only awarded to a player after 10 years service, sometimes less in special circumstances. Think KD would need at least another 3 years to qualify. Lallana is the only other player that will even get close in the next few years, and he would still be some years away from retirement. Testimonials are much rarer these days, they used to be granted more in the days when players did not earn megabucks as they were a way of providing a last decent pay day.
  3. Did Glen (not that one before Dalek wakes up) play for them? If there is one team that does not need a new brand name its the Spuds. "Hotspur" is almost unique, even Spurs. Personally think Spuds or Yobbos would be better. Man Citeh would become the Manchester Golden Eagles (or just Eagles) and surely Liverpool would become the Liver[pool] Birds or perhaps the Hubcaps.
  4. Very pleased for SRL. Hopefully he gets to play but also that England give him the opportunities with dead ball opprtunities, no pint him playing if you don't play to his strengths. I'm certain that he will be able to handle the step down in quality to play for England against Gordy's Jocks.
  5. Expected comment from WUM who clearly did.not watch the game and thinks that pens in a friendly shoot out are of any consequence. Worked hard and created most of our 2nd half chances, fashioned a decent half chance out of nothing and was unlucky to see it go wide and hit a strong header against the bar having outjumped the CV defence. Keep your
  6. Harsh
  7. Shame really because he actually had a really good 45 minutes, working very hard to create and had 2 great chances, the second he was denied by the woodwork. But sadly that is what you get when you follow things on Twitapp and don't know what has really gone on.
  8. What utter crap, the only ponce around here mate is you. Pathetic really, sad an old man like you calling a good youngster a ponce. Shaw and Chambers were really good tonight, especially in the second half, the only players who played more than 45 minutes. Really hope Shaw is not actually injured, because the collision did not look good.
  9. Seems a trifle discourteous to our former record signing. Fair play to the bloke, still wants to play and is prepared to drop down 3 divisions to keep playing, not many have the bottle to go on at 37 for the fun of it effectively. Don't see he warrants being called a ****.
  10. Sorry to be pedantic but Hartlepool are bottom, still 91st looks good for them though.
  11. So you missed Guly's shot just to the right of the post, Davis's shot that was very well saved and Guly's strong header against the bar. There were other lesser chances but 3 golden opportunities. Perhaps the stream was particularly bad for you, if so hard luck that you missed all of them.
  12. Guly with another great chance, he is looking very good today
  13. Suppose a game against the Jolly Farmer is a way of getting match fitness
  14. Did Matt Oakley play? He was supposed to have played for Exeter against Chippenham on Wednesday but was apparently injured according to Tisdale.
  15. Thanks, you are right, finally found a dictionary, celeste does have 2 meanings: celeste adj 1 (=del cielo) heavenly 2 sky blue Reverse translation of sky-blue suggests celeste or azul celeste Here endeth today's Spanish lesson
  16. Apparently this is not the same trophy, the OS mentioned that we had won this one in 1983 and pre-dates the memorial trophy that we are playing for today as described in the OP's nice introduction. Evidently we drew with Dynamo Bucharest 0-0 (5-4 on pens) and drew with Vigo 1-1, goal from Steve Moran. Don't remember this at all, luckily Duncan has it in In That Number. Still not sure about the reference to "Os Celestes" meaning Sky Blues. The translation would surely be the The Celestials I would have thought from my very very basic Spanish and schoolboy Latin. I guess it just means they have 2 nicknames, The Sky Blues and The Celestials.
  17. Reckon Vinny Jones would have put up more resistance, would have blown them away with two smokin barrels.
  18. Sorry, but that made me laugh...
  19. Perhaps he hasn't sold enough records.
  20. I was told on here by one of the resident experts that Manure were the benchmark for how to go about business in the summer transfer window, they did all their business early and got all their important signings in before the first game. So, where are Manure this season? They have signed one player. So, based on that clearly we have signed too many too soon. Above Arsenal as well, my God we are up **** creek without a paddle. Really, we have signed 2 and plan to sign 1 more main target at least, as long as that is the striker we need then we are in a perfectly good position as far as I am concerned. Will we sign striker before first match? Possibly not, but then for the first match we have 3 strikers available, 4 if you count our hat-trick hero. It becomes an issue when one or more of them is injured or suspended, and we need more competition for these positions, 3 strikers is simply not enough. So is there a need to panic? No, of course not.
  21. There are so many top class Belgian players around these days, we seem to have a track record of apparently signing the only ones that are not very good, de Ridder and van Damme. I'm sure there are others who have failed in England of course.
  22. It will only be used against the smaller clubs, they would not dare punish a Manure player retrospectively, Fergie would go ballistic. Oh wait.
  23. Is an "escape goat" the antithesis of a trojan horse?
