Clearly unlikely, but I would have him back like a shot if the opportunity arose. Had the sense to get out before Burley was able to blight his career in 2007, asked for a transfer, the "strike" was just talk, Burley would probably have played him in goal anyway. We got good money for the bloke (probably far better than was reasonable) and he is probably just the type of striker we could do with. 3 or 4 goals and all the forum warriors would eat their words. Will it happen? Will it feck.

Just out of interest, where has this myth arisen that Puncheon had a good season in the Premiership? I believe he made a total of 11 appearances for Blackpool in half a season, and scored 3 goals. He has since made 2 apps for QPR. He has actually had a handful of good games in the Prem, maybe half a dozen in total. Reason they are after him now is because they could see that he might be half decent in the Championship. He really has not shown much as yet to suggest he is premiership quality.

Because frankly it is not something that I have an opinion about, I can see arguments for and against, equally valid. Thats all. I had a at least one (distant) relative on board, my Great Grandparents lived in the area hardest hit by the tragedy and would likely have known many people who perished, but I am not Southampton born and bred and don't really feel strongly one way or the other as to whether this is something that the Football Club should be involved in.

While not wishing to comment on whether this is something that SFC should commemorate, I think this posting shows a complete lack of understanding of such events, and the devastating impact this would have had on the community of Southampton. The loss of any lives in such tragic circumstance is terrible, but to dismiss it because it was carrying (a very small number of) rich and glamorous people and because most of the others were not actual residents of Southampton is just crass. A huge proportion of the victims were crew members, many of which were born and grew up in Southampton, and while many may well have moved to Southampton they were none the less still Southampton residents, just like many of those tragically killed in WW2 (why do you imply all of those killed in WW2 were born in Southamton?). The Titanic tragedy has nothing to do with the Hollywood renditions of the story, except that the reason such films were made was reflective of the huge tragedy. More than twice as many people died as a result of the Titanic IN ONE NIGHT, and in peacetime, as died in WW2 in Southampton. That number is mind boggling, and in no way is meant to diminish the memory of those who did perish in WW2, but some people clearly cannot conceive of the impact this must have had 100 years ago. The densely populated area around what is now SMS was hit vey hard and the impact of this event had long-lasting repercussions for the area for many years afterwards. It is wrong that it should be dismissed by people ignorant of the history and social history of their home. Should it be commerorated by SFC? I leave that to others to debate and decide.

9 caps all in 2011, only 2 as sub. Not sure he qualifies for work permit as that is based on last 2 years. Also don't know whether all of the 9 count as only competitive A team internationals are taken into consideration, friendlies are not considered.

Agreed, if the time they took to sort out Marians work permit is anything to go by, I seem to recall that took a few weeks and appeals. Latvia were too lowly ranked by FIFA for it to be a formality. For Lee that is not an issue (Japan are ranked 19 I believe), but his number of caps would be. Can't quite recall the rules but has to be a percentage of last so many played that he was selected for. Found a link to the criteria: http://www.internationalworkpermits.com/football-players-work-permits.html

Odd, will he be flying back again for his Home Office interview on Thursday? If so likely to be jet lagged for Saturday.

No, Strine

No sorry, that is just so untrue. I have a lot of time for Bart and am not KD's greatest fan but Bart's howler at SMS against Blackpool was one of the very worst I have ever seen.

I know the laws of football pretty well thank you very much, it happens when you qualify to be a referee. So stop jumping to conclusions and perhaps try understanding the rules yourself. If it was careless, which is the most any rational person could consider it then it should have resulted in a free-kick, but no caution. If it was reckless (which it wasn't) then it should have been a yellow. A red card is only applicable if the player used excessive force - quite clearly there was no excessive force, therefore it should never have been red. The reality is that it was a well-controlled tackle by Kompany who was very precise with his tackle and took the consequences into account, thus it was not even careless. Nani did not appeal, only the cheating thug and he managed to con the referee. It was actually a very well-timed tackle with both feet on the ground when contact was made with the ball. Sad really, would be a reasonable appeal by Man City, but as the FA do not accept appeals in >99% of cases it would be a waste of time. -

You didn't reckon with Rooney getting in the ref's ear to get Kompany sent off did you? Cheating bastards. Tackle didn't even warrant a yellow, even Nani didn't appeal, just the thug, and a useless ref. Hopefully we'll get a Prem team at home (someone outside Top 6 and not Stoke), Newcastle would be interesting, could easily see us beating them while they are without Ba. I'm sure NC would like to give Pards a nice little welcome as well. -

Who is this Le Tisseir?

Beacause Dickson is not a RB, we have more than adequate cover for RB in Dan Harding (who has played there before) and also we have cover from Cork and Stephens if absolutely necessary. I doubt that Frazer is anything more than a minor knock, no point in risking him. In any case Dickson is only on loan, so could be recalled in an emergency if we needed cover at LB (assuming all three of our other good LBs were not available).

Coventry 1 - 2 Saints - Post Match Reaction
VectisSaint replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Very good summary of how I feel. This and Dubai Phil's response. I don't have a problem with the person we are talking about here per se, but the threads just become so ****ing depressing that any enjoyment of the game or banter is just completely lost. I finish the afternoon thoroughly down in the dumps not because of the result,t hough that doesn't help, but because of the mindless negativity and moaning which has nothing to do with a match thread. Please lets keep the match thread to posts about the match, and a few pictures of nuns. -
No, vast majority of supporters wouldn't even know it exists. Views on here tend to be much more extreme than the average Saints supporter, and sadly nowadays there is very little evidence of anyone with insider knowledge and so the forum has become largely a waste of time for those of us who are really only on here to keep in touch with what is going on.

A question for the mods about this main board
VectisSaint replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Agreed, problem is that some folks keep quoting him and so the drivel still gets downloaded, don't care too much at home but it is a pain in the arse when you are away and relying on the match day threads for updates on your phone. He just takes over threads and makes them even more depressing than they sometimes are (Brizzle C for instance). -
Please just ignore the troll, then those with him on Ignore will not see the drivel.
-
We'll see next week, but I would have been very surprised for him to be risked today.
-
and we lost. I tend to think we got to Wembley despite Branfoot.
-
Butterfield was linked with transfer away before the season started (can't recall who to), don't think he injured just surplus to requirements and getting off the bus soon.
-
I would have been surprised if we had risked him today with no other fit/available experienced strikers for next week. No point risking him when he is only just back to fitness.
