  1. Some of us are a bit older than others, so who is to say we will see Saints back in the top flight again in our lifetime, hopefully we will, I'm not that old. However, bigger problem may be that while we are languishing in Division 3 or below the Premier League may well establish Prem 2 as they are considering. If so promotion from Division 3 to Prem 2 will be much more difficult than it is to Division 2 at present, especially if the size of the top 2 divisions is reduced to enable Celtic & Rangers to join the elite. This is probably the worst time possible to be relegated to Div 3, especially with a 10 point penalty next season making it even more difficult to bounce straight back up.
  2. Stockport may still have points deducted next season if they don't come out of Admin with a CVA. Of course that applies to Saints as well, but as things stand going into Admin is not the end of the story.
  3. +1 What I read in Sid's post was one of the most ridiculous posts ever, absolute ******** from start to finish. I never really took to Crouch, still don't, but to blame him for the financial mess is about as stupid as a very stupid thing. Crouch has put more money directly into this Club than any of the other idiots that have been associated recently. He even continued to provide a small amount of sponsorship even with Lowe and Poodle in charge. Some people seem to be blind of facts - Crouch was only chairman from late December 2007 to early May 2008, prior to that it was Wilde's gang, aka Lowe's poodle. During his bried reign as chairman, Crouch loaned out 2 big earners, started the business of closing the corners and stopping the subsidised bus scheme to cut costs. He also appointed a very experienced manager/assistant manager in John Gorman, and when it became clear quite quickly that JG was still suffering from the effects of the loss of his wife acted swiftly to replace him, and in so doing ensured that we avoided the disaster that was relegation (and as Mandick has now found, perhaps unwittingly unearthed a rough diamond of a manager). LC may not be the most erudite bloke around, but his heart is in the right place, and with moderate means he has done what he can to support the club financially. Unlike any of the other tossers that get mentioned here. Clean sweep by all means, but LC is not the devil incarnate, whereas Wilde, Lowe and Askham come pretty close to being so.
  4. Are you talking about Cotterill or Coppell? If Cotterill it could be because he was previously manager of Burnley, the away team I've been advocating Cotterill for a long time now (while Burley was still here), his local connections and his abilities in the League (as opposed to the Prem) are well documented. Is probably about the best realistic option unless we have loads of money.
  5. So Tisdale would look to leave Exeter and join Saints, who will start next season at least 10 points above us, in all probability. Of course he won't. Some sense of perspective is needed here. Tisdale is a decent shout, but it won't happen. I'm also not absolutely sure that he is the right man to turn round a team that is on a downward spiral, he is the sort that builds slowly, improving teams gradually, and is very successful doing just that.
  6. So is Jackson's Farm the location of the Blue Few's new stadium? Is that the plan, a combined stadium and pikey van park?
  7. People read The Sun? I thought it was just for looking at pictures.
  8. Nope, we pay to get into Wales, the sheep would be able to leave for free...
  9. Assume you have never tried selling a property and completing in a week. The chance of selling any property and completing the deal in a week is just so unlikely as to be untrue, even in good times, at the moment, you're having a laugh...
  10. I suspect Lallana could be good one day, but he needs some serious coaching by someone experienced working with youngsters. I can see the logic of Fulham or Spuds taking him more for the long term, especially with new rules about home-grown players being discussed. I suspect a loan to Leicester next season would see Lallana develop in the Championship into a useful Prem player in the future
  11. Maths looks fine in Southampton, in order to beat 321 you need 322 (or at least 321 and a dog). Maths in Pompey not too good.
  12. Assuming Davis moves on (and who would blame him) then the GKs would presumably be Forecast and Poke. I thought Michael was back with us but see he came on as a sub for Torquay (when Scott Bevan was injured) against Barrow in midweek and played the full match for the Gulls against Burton on Sunday. Hopefully he has 3 more games this season. Of the rest I would like to see James, Perry and Gillett stay, and possibly Holmes. Not bothered about anyone else I'm afraid though some of the younger players will be useful backup in the squad - McLaggon for instance.
  13. While technically probably true, this must also preclude Lowe and Wilde being involved in any way, shape or form, since it is clear they not only cannot deliver but actually make it even harder to pay back creditors due to the evidence that their presence actually does impact attendances. He must also be aware that any investigation into financial irregularities must involve Lowe and Wilde (as well as Askham, Crouch, etc etc) and therefore could be a huge risk for any creditors or successof a consortium. I think Mr Fry will be well aware already that Lowe and Wilde are persona non gratis.
  14. Why, just because they are ex-Saints? JvD especially was a complete knob-head, and we wasted so much money on someone who couldn't give a toss about us. Davenport was one of the main reasons for relegation. Most others listed I would back like a shot, but these two were just ****s and I would not welcome back at any cost. Just another thought, How about Tin Man, HCDAJFU (even Chala might be usefuk at Leagie One level)
  15. Possible exceptions to the above statement: Davenport Jelle van Damme
  16. Quite honestly even unsuccessful people with any sense would be best off not being linked to Lowe
  17. Nothing changes then, he was always going down in the box, diving bastard
  18. Love to know why you and others think this. His League One experience consists of 3 games as assistant player/coach with Swindon.
  19. Max Clifford will know who he was
  20. KK is usually successful with plenty of money, still takes a lot of skill, but he has never proved that he can operate succesfully with limited funds. He also clearly has a personailty trait that means he finds it difficult to cope when things get a little bit tough. Not knocking him, but he is not really the answer (and anyway would not be interested).
  21. Strachan was a top player that became a top manager, your argument is rather defeated by this example. In many of the cases where a player does step up, it is the quality of his back-up team that is critical. Hence Shearer has Dowie as support. Hoddle needed Gorman. Although I don't think Le Tiss is the answer, he might work if he had back up of someone like Glyn Snodin. I think Shearer will become a good manager, but given that his stint at Newcastle is likely by his own admission to be short, he will always be looking to go back there when he has a modicum of success, and on that basis I would prefer not to have Shearer as manager.
  22. You even forgot Dave Peach, who was as good at pens as either of the above...
  23. This is exactly why the FL (and FA) rules on clubs going into Administrtaion must be changed. I accept the points penalty, but at the moment there is no sanction against those who actually aused the problem, Lowe, Wilde and in some people's views at least Crouch and others. The FL must ban these people from having anything further to do with football ownership (I would go as far as to say anything to do with football full stop). It is not right that the perpetrators get away with nothing other than a hole in their pocket. If Mawhinney is to have any respect then this must be part of the rules.
  24. There were plenty of others on here who also thought it was a good idea, seem to have gone rather quiet lately though. What a complete and utter waste of a season, all brought about by Wilde and Lowe, and their complete lack of understanding of football. Thank God they are gone, lets just hope that it stays that way and they never darken our doors again. Sad thing is that despite the FL punishment, Wilde and Lowe get away with nothing other than a hole in their pocket, while true supporters have to put up with the results.
  25. Means nothing of the sort, just means we have to beat Forest and hope Norwich don't get 4 points from last 2 games
