Totally agree, my point above. As a former league official in Wilts this is what we always did, as it is in the youth football standard template "rules" published by the FA.
-
Just highlights the crass stupidity of the rule. If you are safe mid-table you can go into admin, and have effectively no punishment. But if you are relegated (already in big trouble) you then get a penalty the next season as well. 2 punishments for 1 crime. And all this is supposed to prevent cheating (clubs spending above what they earn to get higher up the league). And in the end the people who have caused the problem walk away scott-free, not even banned from all future involvement in the sport. You really couldn't make it up (well actually you could, as Mawmoney has clearly demonstrated)

Point is that Sheff Utd should have been awarded the game, and Palace should have been deducted a point (or points) as well. Thats what would have happened in most lower leagues. As it happens it makes no difference to either team, but its what happens when organisations can make up rules as they go along, like deducting points for a holding company going into Admin. Its what comes of having corrupt politicians involved in sport.

Pompey....probably the best drinkers in the world
VectisSaint replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
But he could have played for Wales (or Scotland or Ireland or even France) because he comes from the Channel Islands, which is not part of England or Great Britain, or even the UK. So don't get so wound up about Abu Dubai or whatever -
Notice that this has been fixed now, changed to season 1899-1900. I guess someone is monitoring this message board

How about some proper beer, Ringwood Bitter or something rather than all this chavvy lager stuff We're not all teenagers you know LOL
-
So it won't be the last home game then I am looking forward most to the last game of the season when we are promoted as Champions. Just not sure which season that will be.

(Pedant alert): It is formally known as League One, but it was formerly known as Division 3

Very odd that it is almost word for word what is in the Southampton FC Wiki page, except that they changed this date and the number of years before the next final from 2 to 3. Those 2 first half goals from Jasper McLuckie, and the others from Wood and Plant still haunt me To be fair to Bury they were bound to win with a player called Jasper McLuckie weren't they.

For those who won't be getting a season ticket next year
VectisSaint replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
Good stuff. Actually going to nealry every game and not buying a season ticket is far better for the finances than buying a season ticket in the long term. I know clubs like to have money in from season tickets so that they can make financial forecasts and so on, but overall revenue is decreased by STs. Of course if you are financially stretched then buy a ST, but otherwise while we do not have anything like a sell out then regularly pay as you go is a much better option. -
LOL. Must have been a complete freak if anyone ever picked it up in Marlborough. The town is at the bottom of a bllody great hill to the south, and its difficult enough to pick up anything local. Hampshire Radio faded anywhere near Winchester on most receivers, which is exactly how it was designed. You couldn't even get it on the Isle of Wight FFS. That doesn't mean it was bad, but with huge amounts of supporters outside the direct Southampton area it was never goign to work. As for listening online, great, I tend not to do such things when driving. The idea of a radio station for a club is nowadays completely laughable, even the top stations in the country are struggling and only surviving by merging. Next someone will suggest Saints TV back on Sky. Hello, we are in Division 3!!!!!

Not so sure, it may be that only the corners will be open...
-
Perhaps his name is Michael.
-
But Lowe did not like his attitude, probably because he tried to head butt him. Sadly he failed, perfected the technique later...
-
Simple answer: No The radio station lost money even when we were in the Premier League. We are now bottom of League 1. What possible justification is there for owning a radio station that cannot even be heard by a sizeable number of the supporters. This was one of many mistakes made by previous regimes and to repeat the mistake would be absolutely stupid. Clearly the business is not viable, thats why it has gone bust. Sorry for the employees but sentiment does not make a successful football club.

Robson only ever got Middlesbro promoted (so not clubs) and once he kept a club up on the last day of the season, thanks to Pompey and at our expense. An abject failure, time and again apart from the time he was bankrolled at Boro. Cotterill has been promoted in 2 different divisions on a shoestring budget, and has never been sacked as a manager. He left Burnley by mutual consent with the club in a good position in the Championship. He lives fairly locally and is just the sort of manager we could do with. Much as I like Tisdale, the chances of him leaving Exeter to join a team below them in the league is about as likely as me playing CF for Saints. He is also not the type of manager we really need, he is a slow (good) cautious builder of teams, whereas what we need is someone who can give promotion a go at the first attempt, even with a 10 point deduction.
-
You mean Michael Tabor the well known West Ham fan? Haven't we had a West Ham fan in charge before.. gulp...
-
Can't see how season tickets can be sold until a deal is finalised. We have only entered a period of exclusivity. Maybe that is a good sign, but too many people are jumping the gun.
-
But enjoy what? 3 weeks wasting the close season waiting for a deal to possibly go through, while our rivals appoint new managers, get deals in place for new players and so on. 3 weeks time, new owners hopefully start to put plans in place, so once again for the umpteenth season in a row we start behind the pack (not forgetting the 10 points deduction) and our pre-season is ****ed up again. Still cannot be argued that this is better than the alternative, no club, but afraid I cannot get excited, at least not yet
-
I feel some peops are getting ahead of themselves. I'm very happy that entering a period of exclusivity and the non-refundable deposit means that the staff, and to a lesser extent the players will get paid, but this does not mean a deal is complete. It could still all fall apart. Thats what 43 years of supporting Saints has done for me, cynic.

Nice sentiments Docker, but some of us have boycotted Barclays since the 60s when they propped up the racist government in South Africa and prolonged apartheid. However, they are not the villains in this case, the real villains of the piece are Lowe and Wilde. They are the ones who should be putting their hands in their pocket to help out the staff they employed (not the players) as Leon Crouch apparently has already done. But oh no, they walk away and get away with it scott free, bastards.

No, its the Stewart, Collins, Mann, Townsend, Daltry and Wonder consortium...
-
It depends, as long as this forum keeps running I don't think it will make much difference Most of my life is taken up reading the drivel on here, going to a game is a brief, welcome distraction.

Pete Townsend? Roger Daltrey? Stevie Wonder? The Rod Stewart, Phil Collins and Manfred Mann consortium is spreading its wings...
