  1. You are wrong as noted already, but we could be Southampton County Seriously though Southampton St Marys it should be, and we should play in red and white as per the original team. I think our nickname ought to be Saints. I like history. Please whatever else, not AFC Southampton.
  2. Hope not, we could get those Cash in the Attic folks round and auction it for a tenner, every little helps
  3. LOL. Club goes into administration due to the fans. You are joking right? Nothing to do with the appalling football, the results, the terrible decisions made by board and semi-pro coach. We are customers, as your lord and master has made clear many times, as customers we have a right to be treated reasonably and be provided with goods/services of merchantable quality. If customers have deserted Saints temporarily then the blame sits fairly and squarely on the sloping shoulders of Wilde and Lowe. The Bank has finally seen the light and realised that 2 failed business men are not fit to run this Club.
  4. Are we in Administration now then? The Echo says we are so I guess we must be. As for Wilde, try to show some sense of contrition, you are the main reason why we are in the **** now, not just for what you did after Lowe lead us to relegation but by compunding the error by letting Lowe back in. You are a bigger problem in my view than even Lowe.
  5. It was on BBC Breakfast News on TV this morning just after 8am, it was only the web site that had nothing until a little while ago. Their source is evidently the Skegness Standard
  6. To be pedantic, its not the FA, its the Football league that have the Admin rules. Eikther way it will amount to the same thing, 10 points this season and at least 10 points next as well. Why didn't the 2 idiots force this last week, nothing has changed since last Thursday.
  7. Exactly why business experts should not run football clubs. If they were football experts they would see otherwise.
  8. Is Exeter any more inland than Southampton? Theres not a lot of difference. Exeter is also further south than Southampton. You cannot really argue with geography.
  9. No they didn't. It was 2 years ago. They lost out in the play-ofss last season. Pedantic about them not being south coast, they are as much south coast as Weymouth. The "south coast" means that, the southern coast of England. Agree that Plymouth should count as well, and they aren't doing too well either.
  10. Torquay are doing OK, though they missed the chance to go 2nd today.
  11. I see Dexter has joined Forest, could be somewhat galling to have him score against us on the last day
  12. Doesn't really imply that, it could more accurately suggest it is the last one. Could be that we staged the payments, and we still owe 100k.
  13. Sort of feel insulted that MLT is considered a maverick because he played for Saints all his career. He wouldn't have been thus if he had played for Manure or Arse from start to end. The article is almost saying that MLT must be a bit of a plonker to have stayed at Saints. Tripe.
  14. Doubt it, with the possible exception of Chester the 10 point deductioin would not make much difference to the others. Stockport are comfortable mid table, Charlton and Cheltenham are as good as down, Darlo are mid-table, Bournemouth are already in admin.
  15. Depending on what he was shouting at the ref then it could be a crime. We all shout at refs to some extent I'm sure, I know I do, but its not usually as pointed as this seems to have been. One of the reasons why the game is dying at grass roots level in this country is because of the abuse referees (and linos) are given. So even if its not a crime perhaps some people need to at least understand about Respect.
  16. No to mention Aldershot...
  17. Wonder if the ego on legs will ever reach 107 league goals (ok, some were for Accrington Stanley before they rejoined the League) - another 80 to go, maybe he will. Given Brett's horrendous injuries over the years thats not a bad tally for someone who is crap. Made a lot of goals for Beatts when he was with us, even if he didn't score many himself. I see he is quoted on wiki (from the BBC) as saying "I had some of the best years of my career at Southampton. Its a big club with great supporters." Pity some "supporters" don't have the grace to at least acknowledge his contribution
  18. Don't know, but would guess we'll have a better idea next season
  19. Big Mac in a thong, thats an image I could have done without
  20. Not everyone has the same view, here is an extract from the Torquay site: "Michael is on a season long loan from Southampton and his arrival back at Plainmoor after a very impressive spell last season was greeted with elation by the Gulls supporters. Commanding in the penalty box, a good shot stopper and a huge physical presence Michael may well end up playing at a much higher level and it would surprise no-one". OK, so Torquay are a in the Conf, but it wasn't so long ago that they were in League One, and Paul Buckle is no mug. Keepers rarely make it when they are 23, and he could well be a good back up next season, especially if we are in League One as it currently looks, might even be 1st choice if KD wants away which would not be a surprise.
  21. Poke had his contract extended before the start of this season and was then loaned to Torquay on a season-long deal. He was injured and returned to Saints for treatment (25 September). Former Saint Scott Bevan has been the regular keeper for the Gulls this season since Poke was injured (on loan from Shrewsbury). Since Poke's deal was season-long I suspect he is registered with them still and cannot play for us, but not sure.
  22. Note that this pathetic PR exercise will also not start to operate until just before the start of next season, i.e. after any important decisions about the strategy for next season have been taken. If nominations need to be in by end March, why not kick off the "parliament" in May?

Gary Crosby, who then proceeded to whine like a ***** Hmm, say no more...
  24. No, checked back to the OS Archive (June 13th). The whole package of measures were planned to cost £250k per annum, this included (1) shutting the 3 corners, (2) suspension of the subsidised bus service, (3) reduction of the shuttle bus service between city centre and ferry and rail terminals, and (4) opening stadium 15 minutes later on matchdays. I seem to recall the bus subsidy was about £120k, I would guess (3) and (4) would save perhaps 50k, leaving about £80k for the corners. I would think one of the factors here is reduced insurance cost, not just much reduced wages - the insurance would be based on the number of seats, and by closing these parts of the ground they are effectively saying the seating capacity has been reduced. Have to assume this exercise was worthwhile, after all we cannot say this was just Lowe's idea, as Leon was planning to do exactly the same, so Lowe/Wilde only copied the lead of the only successful businessman we have around. It seems like they decided against closing a complete stand "the more radical option" even though it would by implication have saved more money, but was considered too unpopular even for Lowe & Wilde to consider. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=10215
