Have no recollection of any fans backlash against Wotte before, only vaguely remember him being mentioned as being wanted by Woodward at the time. Then out of the blue along comes Burley. Given the CVs of these two I'm hardly surprised that Lowe went for Burley, I'm equally surprised that if Wotte was offered the job and this was then withdrawn that he didn't tell Rupert later to stuff his offer, appalling treatment. Nevertheless what it does show is that CVs can be worthless. Maybe Woodward actually had more vision than Lowe (not much of a shock there), as we found out with Burley and his appalling tenure at Saints, buoyed only by the time we were able to employ Snodin as assistant). It would be interesting to consider where we might be now if Woodward's view had prevailed. Of course we will never know, and its probably also still to early to judge Wotte based on 3 vistories, but he has certainly turned things round faster than Burley ever did. My one big criticism of Wotte remains that he should keep his mouth shut about non-football matters. As a case in point why was the club statement about BWP and Mcg made by Wotte? This should come from one of the Chairmen, not the head Coach. His continued attacks agianst the supporters is also bad form. If he sticks to football and gets results, supporters will respect him.

That'll be the Boyle twins. Wilde bogof

I received Saints March Newsletter tonight by email, but could not find details of the protest in it.

OK, here you go....

Evidently Illingsworth has decided that he speaks for us all and that the Parliament is not necessary as the Trust is already in place. I don't think the Parliament is necessary, but the Trust is hardly worthwhile either. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/default.stm

Thought we were comparing Rasiak with Euell. This proven goalscorer malarky, 5 this season, is that particularly good? Less than McG (although less games to be fair). More than Euell this season (but Euell has played less games). How many last season? Proven goalscorers have some good seasons, he has not been prolific for nearly 2 years now.
-
Easy call, Euell any day. More energy and more versatility. Has also scored almost as many goals this season (2) as Rasiak (5) having played less games. I don't see why anyone would want Rasiak back, OK maybe he was good for us 2 years ago, but time has moved on. Euell is one of the main reasons, in my opinion for our recent resurgence (along with Saeijs amd Saga) .

Hope not, the point of the protests should be as much if not more about getting rid of Wilde. If this is achieved the other aim will happen as a result. Wilde and Lowe should BOTH be the targets. If it were not for Wilde, Lowe would not be here, and if it were not for Wilde we would also not be in the financial ****.

The rot had already set in with Burley and was then taken to greater depths by G&D. Under Burley that players were unfit, and lacked motivation, recall our early season form when we had no proper centre backs (and Bennett's early disastrous form, made up for later by some excellent showings). Turning things around after Burley, Dodd and Gorman had done their worst was very difficult - improving fitness in March is not really feasible, especially stamina which is the major mistake Burley made. OK, NP got a bit lucky, but his task was difficult in the extreme, and he just about pulled it off.

Where are the 14 points we need coming from?
VectisSaint replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
I'm with several others in believeing that 51 points will not be enough this year. I would say more like 53 or 54 but our target should be 55. -
Do they clean boots any more, surely they just throw them away and use a new pair... I think this could be a useful role for Lowe
-
Maybe he's planning to buy us rather than play for us Seriously though, although he would be a welcome addition, it seems to me that we do have a good settled back 4 at the moment, which in my view is very important.

Not necessarily. If you came from Swansea you would think it was deffo not a pen...

McGoldrick probably

Was Lowe a lot closer to being right than we give him credit for?
VectisSaint replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
On what basis can you come to that conclusion? Is Lowe a super successful business man? Evidence? My view of Lowe is that as a buisness man he is a spectacular failure, evidence the share price and the alienation of customers. He was actually the 2nd worst choice available, better only the by the business brain that is Mike Wilde. There are alternative ways to be successful in business than just to cut costs (though that has to be done). Alienating your customers is one of the most prominent signs of a business man who will be a complete failure becuase customers are what count. Fortnately since MW2 (Wotte) has apparently started to turn things around by abandoning RL's mad experiment, the customers have started to return (18k+ yesterday) demonstrating clearly once again that winning at home and giving your all is the key to success, not making pathetic experiments with youngsters playing formations that are completely foreign to them. Rupert Lowe - good business man. My arse. -

Priceless. If you weren't so dumb this would almost be funny. So Lowe had a Plan B, oh my MLT, where did that come from? Wilde has had meaningful discussions with the Bankers, wonderful, why is the Football Club Chairman having discussions with Bankers, and not the plc Chairman? And constructie talks with Bankers, you mean those folks who have caused the credit crunch and who take £650k per annum pension funds, well thats comforting to know that they are able to at least understand how a FC is financed. Lowe will never ever do anything "in good faith". Lowe does things to the benefit of shareholders (which of course is something he is supposed to do), but of course the fact that he and his cronies are the biggest shareholders wouldn't be a factor there would it? As for "diligently trying to reverse two spectacularly failed years of gross mismanagement", I assume you mean when his new chum Mike Wilde was in charge (well 18 months anyway). Seems extremists like you think that this is a different Mike Wilde than the one who specatcularly ****ed up, but is now having constructive talks with the bankers, you really coudn't make it up. Two failed business men in charge of our Club and still you cannot se what a waste of space they are. Still I suppose you are entitled to your view, as much as people with a brain are. -
Shame when someone refers to the truth. Very doubtful that we would have been in administration, but even if we had been we also might not have been in the relegation zone, have you considered that? Darlington are in Admin but are still fighting to get in the play-offs. Two great results, but people need to keep their feet on the ground, we are still in the drop zone, getting out is not in our own hands, and Wilde and Lowe are still "in charge". Fitzhugh makes a good point, don't knock it.

Quite clearly no. Lowe has and had no idea what he was doing. The plan he put in place has failed spectacularly, and now there is a new plan in place, not entirely clear where that came from, but probably not from Lowe - its interesting that he has hardly uttered a word since JP went (which is a good thing, since when he does make utterances they are invariably full of crap). In fact very little has been said since Mr Nice But Dim finally packed his bags. I think to try and turn it round now and try to make Lowe look successful out of this is scraping the barrel. Lowe's plans failed, miserably, luckily events have conspired to give us a fighting chance to recover from the utter madness. Lowe seems to have "disappeared" with his tail stuck firmly between his legs, thank MLT -
Problem is that you do care, thats why you do it. Mr Funny with the hilariously amusing login name; smug as you like, enjoys winding up more than just about anyone else but pretends he doesn't. Look at the League Table and tell me we are not still in the ****. You can be smug all you like end of season when Mark Greatest Dutch Manager of All Time has saved us from Relegation.

Didn't know he played cricket
-
Technically thats not true, we would have to have an unlikely 6-0 win away to Wolves in our game in hand for that to be tha case. Oh, hang on
-
When does the game in hand kick-in?
-
Tell you what (or Wotte), how crucial was that win today. Every other result, except Norwich wet against us. If we had lost today we would have been absolutely dead and buried. Can't believe some of the other scorelines...
-
Agreed, Lowe and Wilde you should be ****ing ashamed of yourselves wanting us to fail...
